Dry shrimp chutney or yetti chutney is a very popular & much-loved chutney in the coastal town of Mangalore. it is salty, tangy, and spicy and prepared in times of monsoon. It tastes heavenly when eaten with Congee (Kanji/Rice gruel) or Toddy and this is probably one of the simplest of all meals.
INGREDIENTS:
Dry shrimp - 1 cup
Kashmiri red chilli - 5 - 8
Cumin seeds - 1 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 - 2 strings
Coconut - 1 cup
Turmeric powder - 1/4th tsp
Garlic - 7 - 8
Tamarind - small piece
Salt as needed

In our place we grind the dry roasted shrimp as well along with the powder mix
Mix by hand with bit pressure
Good taste
I really enjoyed your recipe and the way you spoke and presented. But i am little doubtful to have this dry shrimp without having being cooked.
We need to dry roast a bit it gets roasted quickly
There is a lot of sand in the dry 🦐 so can we wash the shrimp than dry roast it to make this chutney
Try to seive it sand will go off. Don't wash pls
Don't we grind the Yetti as well? I have seen in hotel here in Mangalore
No we don’t grind as it is already small
Can we store it for 5 month
No you can store upto week
Can this be stored outside the fridge for few days?
Yes you can store in airtight container for 1 week.. need to roast coconut nicely
@@VibhasKitchenVK Thank you so much
Did you wash the dry prawns
No we cannot wash it , that is why we fried it a bit
😢😢
Why didn't you wash the shrimps?
We don’t wash shrimp as it is very small and if we wash it then it’s not possible to roast
It wud taste better if u wud add little tamarind.
I think I added
How long can you keep this without putting in the fridge?
You can keep for 5 to 6 days . Try to clean moisture of spoon and use the spoon while transfer the chutney. If any moisture goes then it will not last longer..
