3:45 “this is the best day ever!” 😂 Man I loved this place, my ex and I would stay there all the time. So many great memories! too bad time has to pass and things have to change
Oh Gosh thanks for uploading this video, it’s just came to my mind on searching for a walkthrough in the Riviera hotel and casino sure enough found this video. Probably the only walkthrough I could find on TH-cam and very last before it was sadly demolished 😢 miss this casino so many memories I had spending time with my grandma there ate and gambled there a lot. Rest in memory Riviera Hotel and Casino.
She was a grand old dame.....I enjoyed my time in " An Evening at La Cage" working with such a wonderful and talented cast....When I walked through the front doors or breathed the air during a performance all the greats were there with me I felt..... in my heart....it was quite remarkable......Bruno
Had the pleasure of walking around that iconic casino hotel back in 2012. Stayed across the street at Circus Circus. No Resorts World yet and had a perfect view of the Strip in the Skyrise Tower. Mirrors mirrors everywhere in the Riviera if i recall correctly 😅
we stayed at the Riviera on each of our dozen or so trips to Vegas. Thank you so much for letting us see it once more. Our last stay was a month before this video. The breakfast deal back in the food court was our first stop every morning. All the tattoos my wife got at 3 Lions. The countless trips in the ABC stores in there. Kady's Coffee Shop in the earlier years of our travels. The English pub. The Riv just offered a place that wasn't packed shoulder to shoulder, away from the craziness of Fremont. We watched the implosion of the Stardust from our window at the Riv. So many memories.
Omigosh!!! Only ONE pit was open??? Sheesh. I hope it was GY shift when you were there... Thank you so much for the tour. You did a great job. It sure looks different to me...I left the Riv in late 2008 and haven't been back since. It is still so sad to see it gone...and all the people I worked with for nearly 20 years gone too!!! I have lots of great memories I'll always cherish..... Thanks again for the final tour. It's going straight into a "Vegas" playlist. :)
Thank you for the kind words vegasjill21. Yeah, it's really sad to see this place go. I loved this oldskool place with so many memories. Luckily I was able to shot some footage so it will always be remembered.
Oh my gosh. This brings back a ton of memories! I would wake up really, really early to hit the craps tables and loved just playing alone. I would teak a break and hit the coffee shop and wait for my husband to wake up and come downstairs. I loved talking to the employees that had been there for decades. Lots of cool stories.
What a great video to bring back great memories, well done and thank you. The Riviera was the first place I stayed the first time I ever went to Vegas in 2014. It was so awesome and memorable and I remember so much of this walk through. I took the same walk many times. So much Vegas history, so many names, the movies etc.
Same here, same time too! (We went in June 2014) I remembered this vividly too, the restaurant to the left on the way to the casino (or pool area if you go straight), hang a right instead and another right and there's the tattoo parlor (surprised it wasn't shown but you can see a glimpse of the sample art in the window). Wanted to get one there like the others in my group but wasn't sure what to get, too late to make that happen here at least. What an awesome trip then, and a great trip down memory lane now.
I stayed here at Riviera back on September 1958, January 1962, June 1965, December 1967, March 1971, May 1973, April 1977, August 1983, February 1987, April 1993, October 1999, August 2004, July 2007, and my last time was January 2012
Reminded me a lot of the Sahara, which I stayed at for new years 02/03 and I loved it! It's a real shame, the Stardust was the first to go during the ongoing implosions on the strip of old. Sadly it's due to the fact that there will be no one left to actually remember the LV of old, so I kind of understand why it's happening, even though I hate it!
Ohhh, the good old Sahara.... I miss that casino big time too. Luckily Circus Circus is keeping old Vegas alive but that place is a dump imo. Rather had Riviera still being there instead of Circus Circus!
Would have been nice to stay there at least 2 or 3 times but my family stayed at the Excalibur. But I never knew about the Riv. Until 2 years after I found out it was gone.
This breaks my heart. 30 years from now Las Vegas as we know it will NOT exist just keep it up I hate the new casinos they suck. they imploded this beautiful magnificent exquisite building for a stupid convention center!!!!!!! this is the definition of retarded!!!!! unbelievable... this should be illegal this evil man behind this should be thrown in the implosion this makes me absolutely sick this should have been PRESERVED. It's so infuriating . ONLY Las Vegas dose this!!!! California and other states have things from the 1800's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and we can't even keep something from the 1990's!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable.... for a Blank convention center wow.......... Unbelievable this is immoral. R.I.P. Riviera will miss you every day. 1955-2016
I totally agree with you Darius! Thank you for your opinion. It's the same for the Sahara hotel which was great and is now called SLS which sucks real bad.
I stayed at the Stardust back in the 90's and I'd walk over to the Riviera sports book to check their spreads and I'd watch a game there from time to time. Also eat at their food court that was right near the entrance closest to the Stardust.
I remember reading that this place closed down due to not enough people were coming and they were not making enough money. It was thought that the closure of Stardust and New Frontier and all the construction in the area declined the foot traffic to the Riviera. It looked like it was a nice resort to go to.
haha, was that a lady of the night at the start?? i miss the sounds of the casinos 20 years ago, it will never leave my brain, nor will the layer of cig smoke keeping my chest like a rock all these years! haha, no offense, i was playing smokers, its just that the smell of cigs(and seeing those cool cig vending machines) coins falling into the tray when a winner winner winner was stiking rich, the buckets you always have to pack your 65 lbs of coin around... ahhhhh, the good ol days. sad that it had to go. old vegas will always be the best.
I could sense in this place you were not alone there were spirits that they were having a good time. even ghost hunters Zach had the same sense. she was possessed.
I stay there! I think I was 310 it was in the corner. Not a bad place to stay,. Circus Circus will probably be the next old hotel to go! How much was that camera???
Cool! I stayed there as well in 2015. RIP :( Which camera are you talking about MrJeffy? Mine? I used a GoPro to shoot this video and it costs a couple of hundred dollars... lol :)
Well the Trop ended up being the next to go. Circus Circus is a tough old joint. Owned by Phil Ruffin and not the corps so it plays by different rules. He makes big money from the parking lot adjacent for concerts too. Bally’s bought the Tropicana and wanted it gone so that sealed its fate sadly 😔
Anybody really. They had a sale to strip literally everything out. If you could remove it, it was yours. You could have a light fixture, bedding, vacuum... anything.. Update: I recently heard that the D has their machines
only 60 years. This casino sure was in great condition when it was closed for a parking lot... those fools who decided that - this casino could have made it up to 100 years.
Don’t be fooled by how nice the place looks in this video, the Riviera was sorta dumpy in its final years. Read some Google reviews and you’ll see what I mean.
When they were about to tear down the building, where did they relocate the hundreds of slot machines and tables? What is left before a casino is demolished?
My favorite casino of all time ...the new strip sucks ass no class just give me ur money buy expensive shit eat trendy food and get the fuck out...this place was different
That is really sad to see this hotel go. I really wish they would stop distroying beautiful hotels just to put up new ones. It seems like such a waste. ;(
I miss the Riviera, it was my favorite hotel to stay at in Las Vegas!
3:45 “this is the best day ever!” 😂 Man I loved this place, my ex and I would stay there all the time. So many great memories! too bad time has to pass and things have to change
My 20th HS reunion was there in 2012. I’m so happy I got to see it before it was destroyed 😢

RIP Riviera yout got us lot memories.
I've been to Vegas a few times in my life and I never took the time walking around inside this place. Thanks for this.
Pretty much would've said the exact same thing on this video. ^_^
That looks beautiful and well kept on the inside such a shame it got imploded instead of repurposed.
First time I was out to Vegas was 2014, and I stayed at the Riviera. Lots of very fond memories flooded back watching that walk.
It's a shame they tore it down. Wish I can visit the Riv again... :(

I was there in mid April for the NAB Show with my college class. My first and last time staying at the Riv. Made a lot of fond memories there.

Vegas Info what's at the Site of Riviera now?
Nothing. It will be a convention center in the future someone told me.
Thanks, I used to enjoy staying at the RIV. I miss it.
No problem Ancient Warrior, yeah I miss it too. Stayed there in '15 just before they closed. Very sad :(
Ty for posting.. been going to Vegas since 1980 and loved the Riviera
Thank you for keeping this place alive! Bullshit, that they tore this place down. Should have stayed there, when I had the chance!!!!
Thank you for your nice comment Dace. Oh yes, they should have keeped this place. Too nostalgic to demolish it if you ask me.. :(
Loved playing there.
never been there...
but growing up watch glow..
can't believe it's closed down..
Would have been nice to stay there at least 2 or 3 times but my family stayed at the Excalibur. But I never knew about the Riv. Until 2 years after I found out it was gone.

I totally agree with you Darius! Thank you for your opinion. It's the same for the Sahara hotel which was great and is now called SLS which sucks real bad.
I mean you can’t run a old hotel when none is coming in
The reason why it closed was the demoliton of the stardust, desert inn and frontier caused it to fall into decline
I stayed at the Stardust back in the 90's and I'd walk over to the Riviera sports book to check their spreads and I'd watch a game there from time to time. Also eat at their food court that was right near the entrance closest to the Stardust.
I remember the breakfast buffets for 1.99 the Riviera
Great story Darwin, thank you! Wish I could visit the Stardust... too bad :(
@Ram, WOW, really??? That's crazy!
Woww! When this place was first opened, cars were finned, instead of financial burdens...Long time...Au Revior...
Man good times here!
Yes!
I remember reading that this place closed down due to not enough people were coming and they were not making enough money. It was thought that the closure of Stardust and New Frontier and all the construction in the area declined the foot traffic to the Riviera. It looked like it was a nice resort to go to.
The Riviera should not have been demolished in the first place. Too bad it's gone now :(
haha, was that a lady of the night at the start?? i miss the sounds of the casinos 20 years ago, it will never leave my brain, nor will the layer of cig smoke keeping my chest like a rock all these years! haha, no offense, i was playing smokers, its just that the smell of cigs(and seeing those cool cig vending machines) coins falling into the tray when a winner winner winner was stiking rich, the buckets you always have to pack your 65 lbs of coin around... ahhhhh, the good ol days. sad that it had to go. old vegas will always be the best.
Lol Jenni, nice story. Good old days indeed. You might want to go to the Four Queens, great atmosphere!
Interiors of the "Tangiers" from Casino were shot here.
p.s. i alwasy wondered where does this AWESOME carpet go when this happens??? that shit is and always has been legit.
Sadly I’m sure it got trashed
Elvis Blood type O+ has been here. Marilyn Monroe AB- Princess Diana AB+ these 2 have never been here but it seems like they have
That song is eriee to hear now knowing about the suicide that happened a few months before the riviera was knocked down
I could sense in this place you were not alone there were spirits that they were having a good time. even ghost hunters Zach had the same sense. she was possessed.
RIP Riviera Hotel Las Vegas 1955-2016
why did they demolished it?
That was my question. But when you have all the money in the world, I guess you just waste everything!
To make room for a big conference center. I know, it's for a stupid reason :(
I stay there! I think I was 310 it was in the corner. Not a bad place to stay,. Circus Circus will probably be the next old hotel to go! How much was that camera???
Cool! I stayed there as well in 2015. RIP :(
Which camera are you talking about MrJeffy? Mine? I used a GoPro to shoot this video and it costs a couple of hundred dollars... lol :)
***** So Gopro put out 4K video??
Yeah!

who bought all the slots machines?
Anybody really. They had a sale to strip literally everything out. If you could remove it, it was yours. You could have a light fixture, bedding, vacuum... anything..
Update: I recently heard that the D has their machines
That would have been so wicked to have a piece of the Riv.
This is where the De Niro movie Casino was shot.
How is this so clear? I saw the video of the last day at the Stardust, and the video was so blurry that it was practically unwatchable.
They were about 10 years apart so that is part of it
I have video of the last day at Tropicana & it’s crystal clear
There was literally nobody at the slots lol.
It was pretty early in the day hehe :)
only 60 years. This casino sure was in great condition when it was closed for a parking lot... those fools who decided that - this casino could have made it up to 100 years.
Yeah, I totally agree with you. Wish I could visit the casino again :'(
Las Vegas is tear down happy.
have visited therein year 2000 for Gecco
Don’t be fooled by how nice the place looks in this video, the Riviera was sorta dumpy in its final years. Read some Google reviews and you’ll see what I mean.

My favorite casino of all time ...the new strip sucks ass no class just give me ur money buy expensive shit eat trendy food and get the fuck out...this place was different
Casino movie was shot in hotel with Robert De Niro
Time machine
What happened to the crazy girls?
I don't know but would have been nice to find out or at least go see.
Moved to Planet Hollywood
@@TackyFlamingo thanks.
Luv the Riv, stayed there for 20+ yrs! Same room. HOWEVER, the worst buffet in Vegas. Same chaffing pans for 40 yrs it seemed. Mediocre food at best.
That is really sad to see this hotel go. I really wish they would stop distroying beautiful hotels just to put up new ones. It seems like such a waste. ;(
I totally agree with you +lewis3265!!!
So true I find it disturbing to get rid of old ones it's like they are a historical building.
