We have stayed at The Riv several times and loved it. The vibe was so retro Vegas and that is what drew us to it. This is a sad video for me. Not many original old school Vegas Hotel/Casinos left.

It went thru bankrupt that they have to close doors after 60 years. Its a shame yes but whats the point of keeping it around if it's going to be closed forever?
If the people who buy these old outdated casinos were half smart, they would build the new modern resorts but keep the names. Imagine if they announced they were building a brand new Riviera on that spot, keep the theme but with a modern take on it. The public would be thrilled to see it and those who remember the original would come to see it just to know if it is a worthy successor to the iconic name. You could apply that to any of the older places that are in decline. Imagine if places like Circus Circus, Excalibur, Luxor, and others who's stars are waning were getting total tear downs and being rebuilt from the ground up. When they demolished the Stardust, I really think the place that was being built there now called Resorts World should have been given the Stardust name. Preserve that bit of the past but with the new look and feel of the future.
now the riv has gone along with others on the strip i was wondering which hotel / casino is now the oldest still standing? i would think its circus circus or cesars that havent been totaly rebuilt and just added to? i may be wrong so if someone could correct me ect ....i live in the U.K BUT remember all the OLD places like sands ect so if im correct in thinking those 2 are the only ones still standing from the original strip ...not counting the ones that were demod and rebuilt and kept thier name like sahara ! ?
The only two original name hotels left on The Strip are the Flamingo and the Sahara, both of which are no longer original structures, so technically there are no original hotels left on the strip...
The convention center thing is tasteless. Just expand and renovate the Riviera and it wouldn’t be like this. Sahara and Caesars Palace still exist for those reasons and especially since Riviera is a huge part of the city's history, they really should've kept it

The destruction was only at night they couldn’t do anything about it. And it’s more than 2 seconds and shows the whole thing, and the dust is another thing they can’t handle.. plus the aftermath is something to see too...
