    I personally loved the arc where lion-o has to defeat chetara in a race, defeat panthro in strength, tigra in mind games and illusions, the wilykids in tricks and finally kick mum-ras without the sword of omens. That to me was peak Thundercats. Also loved the female cop from space that came from time to time to have adventures with lion-o. I was like: yes , take lion-o to space before chetara scratches your eyes out.

    I loved Thundercats, and still do. I'll put it out here, I loved Snarf, and watching the whole 130 eps again recently, I'm 43, made me love the show even more. season 2 goes a bit off the rails, but it's still good. and I even recently tracked down a genuine 1986 LJN plush Snarf! yes, cost me a bit from a seller on EBay, but the plush snarf is everything I remember from seeing him in Hamleys toy shop back in the 80s and I wanted to give him a home then, but didn't have the money. Snarf is going nowhere, this is his Final home. "Snayayayarf." *smile*

      I agree after the entry of the lunatacks the story lost its balance. That's not fair with the noble thundercats living in cats lair and the new thundercats at the tower of omens. Why did lynxo, bengali and snarfer left third earth with the nobles to new thundera when they swapped tygra in tower of omens and pumaiyra in cats lair??

    I grew up with that show. Even now I think the animation is still pretty high quality, especially compared to modern animation. A show like He-Man was good but also a bit lackluster in its storytelling. ThunderCats seemed to offer a richer story with more complex characters. Even today while it is still kid friendly it somehow feels like it took a few more risks in its storytelling to create more compelling stories.

    Snarf is great. I see no reason for the hate. He's the Thundercats version of Orko / Cringer and his role is kind of required for the formulae of these shows I mean, Cowl, Niddler Blip, Bandit etc.. Furthermore, Snarf in particular seems to me to be a precursor to Pikachu but unlike the pokemon cast in his image, Snarf can say more than snarf though he does often say "snarf". Also, he's pretty much a Binturong (Bearcat) and they're the coolest animal to ever exist.

    • @blackbearish
      @blackbearish 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Snarf was so practicle. and I think they even animated him correctly so that when he ran on all fours, you could see he was a biped as well as a quadruped. Look at "snarf takes up the challenge," I think there, at the beginning, is a rear shot of him walking towards cat's lair, you see his tail and feet, look at how he walks on the balls of his feet and hands. and I agree with you about the Binturong (Bearcat). I'd also like to take time to give a shout out to the late Bob Mcfadden who voiced Snarf. Bob was responsible for other voices in the show, Slithe, for instance. bob got more expression and emotion into the word "snarf," than i thought possible. People think Snarf said "snarf" all the time to be annoying, but his use of it was akin to a cat's meow. Snarf used the phrase to express emotions such as delight, fear, anxiety and anger. Just listen to Snarf when he gets angry, oh yes, and bob did voice all those purrs, miaows and other cat sounds Snarf and Snarf's nephew Snarfer made. I still think Snarfer's "giggle Riaow," as I call it, is the cutest. for that you'll have to watch season 2. the episode is called Side Swipe, in which Snarfer's delivering a take out to the other Thundercats, yes that's how off the wall the show had become by then, and he gets delayed by Chiller, one of the Lunatacks. of course, Snarfer makes a joke about the food being "Chilli," which it is, in more ways than one.

    • @blackbearish
      @blackbearish 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AH-ef3rw if you want to see how silly snarfs can be, watch the chain of loyalty. Oswold and Egbert get into a scrap and it's rather cute. yes they're furious at each other, but the fight seems very half hearted, even when they're properly going at it. I think this was the point, Snarfs usually don't fight among themselves.

      @MGower4465 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the script is legit done by a fan of the show, and not just a jump-on-the-bandwagon, it could be worthwhile. The next hurdle is casting. I just hope the casting doesn't devolve into a half-dozen generic a-listers chosen entirely for box-office draw. The Thundercats were akin to their family traits. Panthro was high strength, medium agility, less cunning and no speed. Cheetara as a cheetah was all about speed and agility. She wasn't especially strong, but power wasn't her game. Tigra was all about cunning. A bit of muscle, moderate speed. Lion-O had to embody all those to a lesser degree.
      I still don't quite get what the Wily kids would contribute as adults one day, as clearly they aren't especially smart, and don't look to have much promise of strength. I guess they were the one kids watching it would associate closely to. Then there's Snarf. Who seems to exist because someone has to Snarf. Snarfer was just Scrappy Doo as a cat.

    • @BenLWolf
      @BenLWolf 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MGower4465 All modern cartooning is an incestuous horror show that comes out of the same building, Cal-Arts. That's why it all looks the same and is pretty much either Lol-Random, Bad Memes, or Rick and Morty clones. That's the only people major companies will hire. So it has no choice but to be awful.

    I LOVE Thundercats! I own the new figures from Super 7 and even pre-ordered their amazing Thundertank. As long as everyone involved the movie cares about the characters and what made the show so special, it will succeed. Top Gun Maverick did an amazing job honoring the source material that came before it and it could be on track to make a BILLION dollars. If the film makers try to shoe horn in an agenda, it will fail. Fans of many of these beloved properties from the 80s are tired of all the garbage being put out in the names of their favorite shows. With that said, it is past time for the WB to digitally retore the complete original series of Thundercats and put it on Blu-ray. It will sell.

    I also liked the 2011 version and was disappointed when they cancelled it. The only issue I had with that one was that I think they should have given it an intro similar to the original, as a sort of hook for newer viewers. Also, where I lived they were just airing the same few episodes regularly, and you'd have to keep checking back to see if anything new turned up. Even though I was an adult when Thundercats first appeared on Tv, my Son, Kevin, LOVED them. I liked the show as well, and we enjoyed it together, and I, for one, liked Snarf. I felt, even though he was a bit annoying at times, he was always trying to help Lion-O do the right thing.

    I grew up in the 90s. I was raised in care of the state. I had no role models that were healthy for a young boy. I used all these cartoons and thier respective Characters as a model for what I wanted to be. I beleive if it wasn't for them I might be 1000% more fucked up than I am.

    The actual reason Lion-L was changed to Lion-O was they were afraid of being sued by the Lionel Toy Train Company. For the names sounding too similar. It had nothing to do with Lionel Richie.

    Love how Cheetara was fast enough to be a speed demon in her own right, but not so fast that she rendered the other Thundercats stationary and useless, like a DC Flash or Marvel Quicksilver kind of does

    • @camerondodge2070

    Snarf was important because he was important to Lion-o. The "Oh Snarf" Lion-o wobbles out when he thinks Snarf has snuffed it is probably the most emotional moment of the whole thing. I like to think after 100 episodes of someone disliking Snarf they would still root for him to be OK, for Lion-o's sake at least.

  • @BillyBowlster

    A 12 year old inside a cat-mans body, i mean that's Ryan Reynolds definition isn't it? Like that's him playing himself. He'd have to have Wolverines body though, deadpool is sleek where Liono is more Rocky Balboa. I have no hopes though Disney has destroyed and corrupted everything it's touched lately.

      @@floydjohnson7888 For Vader to join Yoda and Obi-Wan as a "force ghost" was a huge moral flaw with Star Wars. It bothered the hell out of me even at age 13 when I saw Jedi in a theater THE DAY IT PREMIERED. So beat that, sonny...
      Killing the Emperor does not make up for murdering a whole planet, not to mention all his other tyrannies. Imagine forgiving Hitler because he had a change of heart on his deathbed. Vader was vastly worse than Hitler.
