Thanks for doing this, Neil. Capturing and showcasing this masterpiece of a soundtrack on such a mainstream media platform, allows it to live on and makes it accessible so many more people. It's a great service to us all. 👍🏻
Really shines on SC-55 also! the shredding guitars into the intro/build-up section, are completely missing from the mt-32 version. lots of small differences like this in the soundtrack, depending on which version you listen to. All of them great!
Awesome even after all these years , if only I had access to this sound quality rather than muffled SNES or megadrive the back then ,thanks Neil great demo of tracks especially bloody tear at 08.50 👍
I use the X68000 core on the MiSTer FPGA and it supports the mt32pi. It sounds identical to a real MT32. Awesome music from the X68000 games that support it. Castlevania is one of my favourite games on this platform - especially for the music.
Genius soundtrack from Konami‘s heyday. Castlevania Chronicles on PSX also has both, MT32 and SC55 soundtracks, so the same MIDI music as the Sharp X68k original.
@@Megatog615 Yeah, I’m not sure either why Konami would hide the Roland soundtracks of the PSX version behind a code, but here goes: Hold L1 and R1 while selecting original or arrange game mode for MT32 or SC-55 music :)
Oof, Thrashard in the Cave's harpsi-guitar is bugging out! This means you probably got an older, slower MT-32. I have the same issue, but worse, on my D-20.
I used to have Konami soundtrack cds and thought they made midi version just for the cds. But it seems they were actually for the X68000!!! Can you please add Parodius tracks? They are possibly even better than this 😁
@@chrisbrazier88 @Chris Brazier I was so happy to discover CoolSoft VirtualMIDISynth a few years ago while exploring zDOOM's extensive MIDI options. It's a game changer for MIDI, especially with some great sound fonts. Arachno Sound Font is one of my favourites. It's awesome, and it comes with some great demo MIDs as well. MUNT is also a nice MT-32 emulator.
For a device that came out 34 years ago, the MT-32 still amazes me at just how damn good it can sound!

Thanks man! 😊
Hahah!
"You goddamned bathead!"
Best song title I've heard in months! And that bass line was suitably wicked as well
Thanks for making my new midi music playlist for my boring train journey this morning! 👍
These are the days of epic MIDI ... chilling to some demo tunes now :-)
This is amazing! I often play this using an RGP Pi adapter (correct resolution etc.) but to hear the real hardware with Midi is incredible.

The MT-32 really shines on the Theme of Simon Belmondo.
Yes totally agree! It's really good :D

Wow I've never heard this on the Sharp via Midi! Goose bumps overload! Thanks Neil :D

Thanks Neil this is amazing. I am lucky enough to own some good quality headphones and the sound of the Roland and Yamaha are amazing

Simply incredible hardware!!
Whew, that, as the kids say, "slaps"
Wow this sounds amazing. We definitely were held back playing these games on SNES and Genesis/MD. Sharp x68000 was a monster

I have searched TH-cam and could not find the MT32 tracks from the Chronicles soundtrack.

19:24 Love how the midi sounds dip on You Goddamed Bathead! 🥰
My favorite castlevania
How about some Final Fight tracks? Or all of them??

Some great sounds from the Roland. Will say that Vampire Killer sounds a bit odd at points, but the rest of the OST sounds brill!
Strong Carpenter vibes from Something Loopy.
Ahhhhh.... Belmonte!

Love that bass around 13:00
MT-32 orgasmic sounds !
4:00 Is someone doing a jig off camera on the left? 😂😂😂😂
Haha that will be me bopping along while I capture it
5:56 there seems to be something wrong with one of the channels...
someone above said he prolly has an older, slower MT-32 so it's bugging out
Epic
Wait, was this recorded with an actual Sharp x68000, or no?
I tried to find the midi files, no luck yet! ^
Emulate the game and play them through the menu like he did here. I'm emulating it and using different soundfonts with CoolSoft VirtualMIDISynth
@@chrisbrazier88 I wanted to ply the soundtrack on my real mt32 but thanks
@@stephanemignot100 Plug it into the machine you emulate the x68000 on and you can
@@chrisbrazier88 the mt32 is plugged to a 2004 eMac, there is an old version of a x68000 emulator, all in Japanese but thx!
