Honestly years after the R’s release, it’s showing itself to be the best all around entry camera. It’s not good as specialized needs but if you want to start photography, it’s a really amazing FF canon. I don’t see myself upgrading from my R for a long while. Additional it’s exhausting and costly trying to keep up with all the new gear that comes out. The R is even now a reliable and inexpensive tool.

You’re much too young to remember the days when every wedding photographer shot a DSLR in the 10-16 megapixel range. Never had an issue printing big either, with or without cropping. 20 megapixels is more than enough….unless you lack confidence.

Belive it or not. I shoot my landscape and wildlife mostly with my r5. Just because I like to crop. But for weddings I always use my r6 because of the low light and low noise performance. Love my 21 mega pixel r6. Clear sharp pictures everytime. I even use it for some landscape as well and love the prints I get with the r6.

I have the 5DS, EOS R and the R6. The 5DS I use with the EF 24-70mm f2.8L II, EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS USM II and the EF 85mm F1.4L IS USM. This kit is my go to portrait kit. The EOS R and the R6 are paired with the RF 16mm f2.8, RF 50mm F1.8, RF 24-240mm f4.5-6.3, RF 24-105mm f4L IS USM, RF 70-200mm f4L IS USM and finally the RF 100-400mm f5.6 - 8 IS USM.
The EOS R I mainly use in manual for landscape photography and often only with the RF 24-240mm to keep thing light & simple with a few filters. The R6 is a jack of all trades being used for portraits, landscape, street photography and product as well as occasional sports. No one camera can do it all, the 5DS resolution is not beaten by the R5 but it has poor dynamic range especially low light. The EOS R has awful control layout compared to the 5DS and the R6 (the Touch Bar is useless) but the 30MP is a good sweet spot for landscape. The R6 is the weakest for cropping but if you compose well to start with it more than makes up for it with superior AF, dynamic range, control layout, electronic 1st curtain shutter, size & weight. Paired with good glass this is an awesome camera and the image stabilisation a game changer.
The time is close to replace the 5DS with an R5 and the RF 28-70mm f2 for portraits the only EF lens I will retain is the EF 85mm F1.4L IS USM which in my opinion is a better lens for weddings than the 85mm F1.2 lenses simply because the IS makes a difference and the bokeh on the 1.4 lens is still creamy unless Canon brings out a RF 85mm F1.4L IS USM

It is my feeling that the lower pixel count on the R6 is an advantage because of the lower pixel count each pixel is larger which means there is less noise and a better image.

I subscribed to your video. I also shoot Canon. My main camera is the R6, second shooter is 6D, then I have 5 other back ups. I haven't had an issue where the 20mp has been an issue. In fact back in the early 2000's I shot with Canon 30D and I believe it's only 10mp and a crop sensor. It does make the work flow easier having 20mp v 48. Especially if I shot a 1,000 images at a wedding! Enjoyed your video!

Thanks for the video. I personally chose R over the newer cameras because:
    1. Price is lower
    2. I work with EF lenses, including 85 1.2 (image is so aerial, that RF does not beat it even with better sharpness and lower level of chromatic aberration) and focusing abilities of R do a good job for me
    3. Resolution
    4. 1 card slot has never been an issue for me

Isn’t the 28-70mm incredible?? I’m rolling with it on the R5; I think you’d love the experience of that camera!!
Also, I’m wondering if you found the 20mp to be a problem for canvas prints? We’ve printed large with a 16mp sensor and not had any problems. I also don’t feel like much gets missed with cropping room if you’re shooting at base ISO. 🤷‍♂️

The 20mp on the R6 is absolutely fine for printing large prints and now you can record video to both cards and in CLOG 3 makes it an absolute beast. For my wedding photography it performs extremely well.

Many ppl misunderstand the 20mp thing. They see the number and that’s it. They don’t take into account how the image is processed. They just don’t understand enough so they make an assumption based on the number.

Personally I would like the R6 because:
    - The sensor is from a 1DX III for sports (that advantage is the high fps for action)
    - Less megapixels is better for low light
In my eyes its a compact 1DXIII sports camera. The R5 is for that high quality stills/video. I think the R is more of an in between. Now that the R3 is out, its the new flagship sports camera. I think its smart that Canon is reusing their existing technology at a more appealing form factor so they can keep the development that went into those cameras alive longer.

The R is affordable and competent, allows access to RF lenses, uses already owned batteries, allows use rf lenses. In all it makes sense with decreasing revenues to wait for another camera to appear or the current crop to decrease in price. That said i want an R1!

The R6 isn’t meant for big prints or lots of cropping. That’s the R5’s place. The R kinda toes the line between the two. They’ll diversify the models soon. A body with all the things you want will be out soon I’d bet.

    Very good content.
All your videos was easy to like.
I really wish Canon understood what a big mistake it was to come up with the R6 and only 20Mpix. Think what 30Mpix had sold well ... Just right. But Canon has been wrong for so long so I hesitate to wait for R6II ...
    I want a Canon ...
And when R3 came with only 26Mpix then it felt doubtful that Canon should give 30Mpix on an R6II.....🤔
But then came Sony A7IV and ruined everything for Canon😂😂 ...
It became what the R6 should have been🙄 ....
Sony now with a new menu system and bigger grip.😍 ....
Now Canon must realize its big mistake that surprised EVERYONE when R6 was presented😕💔 ...
I get really happy when Canon gets slapped by Sony ... Them need to woke up.
Canon obviously does not understand what people want ... or expect to come ...
Thanks for this video ... Too bad Canon never sees what is being complained about ...
I will now give them another chance ... And if it goes wrong this time too, we'll see if Sony or someone else gets the chance.
I never bought R because the dynamics on 5DIV was bad when it came and 3 years later the same sensor is used again in R 😨... It was a big disappointment😢😭 ... also no IS in the camera😭 ... which was important to me then.😩 ... But now the price of a new R is so low that I'll probably get one in anticipation of better times.😆
    Thanks for your video 😊👍
