    I have an Canon R100. I use an RF 100-400mm f5.6-8 IS USM, EF 100mm f2.8 macro lens with an adapter. I used to have a 24-105mm EF lens that I gave to my mom (paired with a Canon T7). I am saving up for the RF-s Sigma 18-50mm f2.8. I shoot mainly flowers and foliage with my R100. I love my R100 as I am a hobby photographer and the R100 did not break the bank. The R100 is my first mirrorless camera. Coming from the T7, 5D mark ii and iii I love the digital viewfinder as it shows me what Iam getting in the photo no guess work needed. My R100 definitely takes better photos (paired with a good $600. lens) than my iPhone 15 Pro Max.

    I am not a professional photographer just a hobbyist who second shoots every so often with my professional photographer daughter. I bought the R100 for two reasons I saw one used at my local camera shop for $276 and I have owned some rebel cameras and to me the R100 is basically a mirrorless rebel camera. I use my daughters ef to rf adapter so it didn’t cost me anything. I also chose to buy some adapters o i could use vintage film camera lenses. I realize not everyone will make the choices I do but if you focus on making great images use what you have.

      R50 is light and compact and would be less worried about it in holidays. Cropped sensor useful for wildlife as well. R8 full frame of course better performance in every way but twice the price. LOL, it's ok to pe proud of your son but if you cannot see the difference between one of the best ff sensors and an entry level aps c, you're still a noob.
      One example, wide angle photography. It's impossible to get the same angle of view of a ff with an aps and the same lens. And no, there are not good RFS lenses and even if they where, physics tell you an aps c camera will always have lesser image quality than a ff.
      Perhaps both of you shoot jpeg? But anyway, both cameras are capable of excellent results, but are meant for different purposes. R10 will be better for wildlife and A7 for landscapes, to say something.

    Recently I purchase a used EF 70-200mm F2.8L Canon lens to use on my Canon R100 camera. I use a Canon adapter to mount my EF lens to the RF format connector. I take really good photos of flowers with the 70-200. I took some photos of my nephews at the beach with the 70-200mm lens and those photos all turned out great. I had to edit some of the shadows in Adobe Lr on my nephews, but other than that straight out of the camera of the 70-200mm lens on my R100 takes really good photos. I also photographed some moving boats in the channel of water by the beach, with the R100 on "AV" mode or "Apeture Priority" mode.The boats where not traveling that fast, maybe 5 miles an hour. All the moving boat photos turned out well and are in focus on Av mode. My 70-200mm lens has image stabilization.

    Listen to Fro, people, glass is super important. I've never been happier with any camera than the R6mII, but that's only because I got two nice zoom lenses 24-70mm and 70-200mm f2.8. Those are amazing and cover basically all my needs. I will get a better macro lens than the 35mm f1.8 at some point (which I only ever use for macro shooting), and I borrow a 10-20 f4 whenever I need one, but if I only ever could own two lenses, it would be those two because without them the R6 would be useless.
    Any of those lenses would give most people such amazing results with all three of the bodies shown im this video, and that's why glass is super important. 😅

    @h.o.j2375 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

    Warning to others who are thinking about buying the R50/R10, do not buy it with the kit lens, they are absolutely terrible with image quality. Doesn’t matter so much for those considering a R100 cause if you’re buying that I don’t think this is something you would notice to begin with. The RFS 18-45 is a pain in the butt to use, you have to turn it to start shooting, otherwise it’s like you still have the lens cap on, the barrel extends outwards a lot as you zoom out. Buy these bodies on its own and go for the new Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 if you need a zoom lens, you won’t kick yourself later for having it. Otherwise go for the budget prime RF24,28,35,50mm lenses for amazing sharpness and image quality. The RF28 & 50mm makes the most sense size wise to go on these bodies, the others protrude out the front quite a bit and makes the camera extremely front heavy and a bit awkward looking.
    This is just speaking from personal experience, got the R50 and not a day goes by where I don’t wish I never got the kit lens. I got the RF24mm f1.8 because I needed something for night photography, I was blown away at how much sharper the images were compared to the kit lenses. I liken it to going from SDTV to HDTV😂😂
    For people who have genuine interest in photography and looking to start on lower budget but perhaps grow into higher quality cameras later on, don’t go with the RFS lenses.

      I used the same combo over 1 year and M50 is a very good photo camera. Just video is marginal compared to the R7.
      My 2 M50 ii are used in for video/youtube because of clean HDMI out and very good quality in 2k.

    Between them, hands down the R50 has the tiniest and most crammed controls ever in a camera! Even the R100 is better, because the screen in integrated in the body, and there was more space left for the controls on the back. And the R10 is by far the best in ergonomy, controls, customisability of controls. The R50 cannot have 2 buttons at least customised. And you can't customise the d-pad with just moving the focus points. Very unpleasant, for someone that knows what they're doing.

Keep in mind that Generations Z and Y don't use a viewfinder anyway, so if that were missing it wouldn't matter to half of the market for the R100. My opinion:
    Vari angel LCD is a source of joy for lots of situations where you cannot use the EVF or look at the display so for me absolutely essential.
    Touch LCD is natural, so a no brainer to mee too.
    4k oversampled video might be the main differentiator for those who are in video. R100 has the awkward contrast detect of the M50 (if I understood the Canon information correctly) for its 4k cropped video: far away from DPAF + mostly annoying crop.
    I would strongly prefer the R50 over R100 if you need increased display usability + the potential of high quality 4k movie.
    EDIT: Forgotten to say: Always a good and enjoying video - Thanks.

AF is great, IQ is great, and the R50 has been quite surprising. The AF in the R50 might be better than that of my R6 mk1. Almost debating selling off the R6 and all of my FF lenses. I run a small business and I'm looking for a good camera to take product images. My products are lapel pins. 1in x 1in. You sold me on the R50 or R10.
    The lens is where I get lost. I need a Marco lens. I know that. But I don't know which lens I need. A 35mm macro or 85mm macro.
    Did I tell you I know nothing about photography. I just want clear zoomed in images.
    Can your community help me. I'm pretty overwhelmed and I'm stating to get anxious over the whole buying process. I only have about $2500 and I want to have a camera that lasts a long time.

    and I should buy an RF lens, (too expensive),
    and they deleted the topic I made with access denied...

    • @flyfelix333
      @flyfelix333 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If that happens due to or with the firmware update, then it will be a software issue. In the days of DSLRs there was this problem with back- or front-focusing, when the actual focal plane was not on the sensor. This had to be corrected manually fpr every lens on every body, but it is solved and is not a problem here anymore as i think.
      I also own the Sigma 60-600mm EF, and it is a great lens in terms of optical performance.
      So i would reccomend to try a newer or older firmware than the one you have issues with. If the Problem is still there, then i am sure it is an optical/lens-electronic issue. In this case i would send the combination of R5 and Sigma to a service center so that they get a look at it.
      If you have the option, try another copy of either of these two devices, so you might get where the issue is at.

      the trapdoor with Cannon is that they love leaving out features like the garbage r100 with no touch screen, or a actual lower resolution back screen for the r10 which is the most expensive, they do stupid stuff all the time and you're generally not going to know about it until you run into it or you're very well informed from multiple reviews from multiple sources and hopefully it can still work for you.
      for example the R5 has a savior settings feature that they didn't put in the R62 which came out later. you don't think it's an issue until you have to reset the camera because of some technical issue and then all of your settings over 20 some odd screens has all been reset to default.
      I've been with Canon for about 14 years now, it was better back in the days they seem to put their all into whatever model that they came out with, but this is not the same Canon.
      if you're going to stick with crop especially, you might want to look at Fuji or even Nikon at this point. you do have options even though all of the options have limitations. at the end of the day comes down to what you're shooting and how so-called professional and such you want to be.

    • @ConcealedWeapon
      @ConcealedWeapon 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sorry to say this, but if you have had a 600d for ten years and don't know if your lenses are ff or not you're just starting out, very slowly.
      R50 is not the sweetspot. It lacks some necessary (to me) features that make it crippled, like the lack of a full mechanical shutter. That alone completely blocks you off from some types of photography. R10 has the "complete set of characteristics" but diminished, like a baby R7 minus stabilization. You can do most things with it, just not for a very long time or big.
