How to Book Photo Mini Sessions Using Honeybook (Demo & How To)
2024 NOTE: I'm leaving this video up in case you really, really, REALLY want to do mini sessions through Honeybook. That said, it's important to note that because Honeybook is a project based app, it is fundamentally not built for mini sessions. I highly recommend setting up an account with Session and running your mini sessions through that software. It is SO much easier and more intuitive because it is literally BUILT for mini sessions - It is worth every penny, I promise you!
It's finally available! (But a bit tricky to set up) Here's how! IMPORTANT NOTE: There is a HUGE caveat to this - if you set up the contact form with the project date as I described in the video, that entire date will become unavailable once the first person completes their booking UNLESS you go in and manually adjust the project start time and end time. (Which honestly defeats the purpose of automating it to start with.)
As a commenter noted, to truly automate it, leave out the project date in the contact form and just put the date in the contract inside the smart file without attaching it to the project date smart field. Note that done this way, the payment schedule doesn't work as well. So it's best to charge the entire session fee upon booking when doing it this way.

    Ok... so Let ME just GET EVERYONE's attention here! I checked out "Session" and WOWWWW!!!!!!! SERIOUSLY! It took me about 4.2 min to have EVERYTHING set up and looking fantastic and all ready to go! EASY, simple and VERY nice! Wow! It's about 147 times EASIER, faster, and as Amy said, it's DESIGNED for mini sessions! I'm gonna be at a networking event and will be offering a "event only" type special for people that are attending. THIS is so perfect. I will also say that Session is worth EVERY single last penny it costs! Just wow! Love HB, but for "this?!??" it's Session all day ever day! THank you AMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Am I the only one who hates how the user has to click through the calendar to find the month the sessions are offered? So if im offering sessions six months in advance they have to click through six months? Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I haven't figured out how to fix this.

      I believe the updates do not transfer because the iCal file is just a snapshot. So you would have to re-import to see updates. If you can get the URL of the iCal calendar, you can import that into Google calendar and it WILL update!

    Hi, I tried in the scheduler to setup the end and start date to be the same (since mini session is the same day different time slots) and it’s telling me the end date has to go after the start date 😭 is Honeybook’s really set up to do same day mini bookings?

    • @AmyLynnCreative
      @AmyLynnCreative 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, you have to leave the end date empty and just set the availabilty for that one day only instead of every Saturday (or whatever day). It CAN be done in Honeybook, however it is extremely obnoxious and if you do mini sessions with any regularity, I highly recommend using Session for them instead because it is built for that. (I've been ignoring my youtube channel for a bit but have a video on that coming soon.)

    One question: why are we making a mini contact form when we're having to make a mini project option? because it seem thats where this automation comes in right? Unless you're sending a bulk email with this specific contact form.... Just been working on this a few hours and had that question come to mind.

    • @AmyLynnCreative
      @AmyLynnCreative ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, feels like jumping through hoops for sure, but it is important in this case! If you don’t create a separate contact form for your mini session project type, you’d have to add a question to the contact form with the project type field linked and hope the client selects the correct option (plus it’s an extra step for them) instead of the project type automatically being your mini session project! Does that make sense?

In fact back in the early 2000's I shot with Canon 30D and I believe it's only 10mp and a crop sensor. It does make the work flow easier having 20mp v 48. I just set this up pretty much exactly like you did in this video. It was very informative. But I ran into one tiny snag that I hope you can help me with. Maybe it was something I overlooked. When I had my first hit, it created the project for my client, but then marked my availability to "busy" within the project details, and that took the whole date offline for anyone else who wanted to check into it. It was basically a first come first serve. How can I default take my availability to "free" so I truly can just watch the bookings come in hands off?

    • @kristyadams5633
      @kristyadams5633 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, with some fiddling, I ended up deleting the date field in the contact form. I think that's what messed it all up. Once the first person did that it just marked it as busy and no one else could finish booking. I'm not too worried about that because it needs to be paid in full at booking anyways, and I just went in and inputted the correct date in the contract that they can't edit. So it was a little bit of a workaround, but at least now multiple people can book.

    • @AmyLynnCreative
      @AmyLynnCreative ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kristy - so sorry for the late reply - you are correct - it is such a pain. the project date would have to be adjusted each time someone booked to be a certain timeframe. In my contract section, I like to state the Session date and time (project date and time) so I added in a smart field and selected project date, but i don't want to allow clients to change it, instead i would like for it to auto fill with the time they selected on scheduler. is that possible?

    • @AmyLynnCreative
      @AmyLynnCreative ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi there. Thank you for this. Is there a way to create ONE page that had multiple blocks and each block offers a different digital download? Before I design it, not sure that each block button (when on the same landing page) will then be able go to a different checkout page... each digital download will have a different price. Would be nice for people to be able to see all the digital downloads on 1 page versus having to create 5 different pages for 5 products.

    • @peppermintpenguincreative
      @peppermintpenguincreative ปีที่แล้ว

      The only way to have multiple links is to link pieces of text - all the buttons will go to the same sale page. Checkouts were designed for a single product use case. That said, I created one page for a digital product, then duplicated the page for each other product so that I didn't have to start from scratch! Then I would have a page on my website that shows all the products and links to each sales page. (Also - just realized I replied from my other account - sorry to be confusing! - Amy)

      Is there an additional cost to making a subscription to one's checkout page?

    Why not just have both?

      I could see that working for a hobbyist who has cash to burn, but like many professionals, I've found that sticking to one system makes more sense for my business. 1) It's far more cost efficient to stick to one system so that lenses, flashes, batteries, etc are interchangeable. 2) If I need to use two cameras on the same shoot, going back and forth between two different systems is just another thing to think about and could lead to mistakes being made.

      @@AmyLynnCreative I have the R5 for any sort of shooting where I pull a camera out of my bag, aka traveling. (2) A7siii for me is just set up in my studio (bedroom studio) and an A7iv that I have yet to use but it’s a backup I guess. I can see where what you said makes a lot of sense though. Appreciate the input and the great video!

    Hi Amy, tried to send an email "now" but it keeps getting scheduled. I'm from Philippines and would like to send it to Canadian clients. What can I doto fix this?

    Great tutorial Amy. I've had access to Checkout for a few days and have tried for said DAYS to use it. However, I cannot scroll freely up/down from block to block as you're doing while in edit mode. Is there a trick that I'm missing? I've adjusted the padding, screen size, clicked up/down arrows only to end up moving blocks. Is there anything you can suggest? Someone told me to use preview mode, but it's no longer available for them either. Any help is help at this point. Thanks so much.

      Hi Carrie - I am so sorry - I saw your original comment and completely forgot to respond when I got back to my computer! I was using my laptop trackpad to scroll up and down and it is also working with my regular mouse scroll wheel as well! (I checked again just now.) Are you accessing Flodesk through the Google Chrome Browser on desktop?
