    I made a fairly quick muscle memory adjustment to the on off switch as you can switch the camera on with your shutter finger as you’re grabbing it out of a bag (or by your side on a strap) It’s ready to go by the time it hits your eye. Just my two cents. 😊

    I have the R6 and I needed a 2nd body so I decided to buy the R6 mark ii. I noticed the jump in sharpness too and I did not like it. Especially not for portraits. The R5 and R6 photo's have the perfect look in my opinion and are already very sharp. In the end I decided to keep both. I think it comes down to this: There is a preferred look/balance for everyone. I think the R6 has the perfect look and the R6 mark ii crosses that line by what they did to the low pass filter (weakening or removing it) or some sort of artificial sharpening. The advantage of the R6 is the more beautiful look and the advantage of the R6 mark ii is the more megapixels which is useful for wildlife photography and cropping. The overly sharp image might be extra beautiful for wildlife or cars, but not for close up portraits. Another thing I like to mention is that it also depends on which lenses you use. I owned the RF85mm 1.2 which was extremely sharp. It looked better on the R6. On the R6 mark ii the portraits needed more photoshopping and looked noticeably worse. Every pore could be seen and looked worse than reality. I sold that lens and bought the RF 70-200 mm 2.8 which has a much better look and balance in my opinion, even though it is a very sharp lens too. So I use this newer RF 70-200 mm 2.8 lens on the R6 now, which is a perfect combination. With the perfect look. Then I have the older EF 135mm 2.0 (with adapter) and the Samyang RF 85mm 1.4 AF which are also sharp lenses (fantastic look) but just not as excessively sharp as the previous mentioned ones and so I use these 2 lenses on the R6 mark ii. I think I have found a good balance in look and lens/camera combination now. I can now take good portraits with each combination. There are also some other differences, the R6 is a little better in low light and indoors and the R6 mark ii has more options with the electronic shutter (you can choose shutter speeds there and shutter sound volume), on the R6 the electronic shutter is just one option, one very fast shutterspeed and completely silent. But I prefer 1st Curtain electronic anyway. There is also a difference in menu's. It seems more like a completely different camera than people usually say. About the focus system, I haven't noticed any difference. They say it is supposed to be better on the R6 mark ii but it feels the same. Maybe it's 0,1 % better on the R6 mark ii? I also have the original firmware on both camera's and I will not update them because I'm afraid it will change things again and I also heard that newer versions sabotage the wonderful Samyang RF 85 1.4 AF lens.

For me it was light years ahead of my last real camera...which was the Canon AE-1...a 35mm film camera...yes film!!! So yes...I am enjoying this camera and what it offers. I would really like to know your AF settings...which is something I keep changing around to find what works best for me. Shot a bunch of live concert music lately and it seemed to have issue setting on focus...I will blame it on the crazy lighting. So please share your settings....Thanks!

      If you can live with what you have and it isn't broken then id wait, then performance upgrade of the mkiii will be much more substantial and notable, so will be worth the wait. But heed this warning, the R5mkii is still only available as a preorder with no dates at the shops when they will be available.
      SO the r6mkiii could be available summer next year but it could be upwards of 2 years from now before you're able to purchase unless you're lucky, they have Lenses they still havent shipped that have been available for a year now. SO if you're desperate for a camera or you dont think your's will last that long you need weigh up you choices.
      Also from business perspective the Mkii is pretty cheap now, in certain places as low 1400, the r5 is 5k I reckon the r6mkii will near on 3k. Are you getting work coming in to justify that amount on a new body? personally as a business myself I dont need the latest and greatest and pick up things on offer or even secound hand. Its a much smarter way to operate and you dont lose so much money when the time comes to sell.
      If you're a hobbist you also need to weigh up your choices do you need those new features? Stacked sensors don't always mean better, Nikons new z6 has comparable DR to an APSC! For example its 2 stops worst than the r6. Do you photograph sports or landscapes, well if the latter autofocus speed improvements wont help you at all! any camera from the last 10 years will be ok and im not joking you need dynamic range more than anything so that stacked sensor might actual really hurt your output.

    I think the on/off switch turning into a stills/video switch is to favor hybrid shooters. They can work faster that way and they rave about it. Us who shoot just photos may not love it, but I understand Canon making that move.

  • @Mariner1460
    @Mariner1460 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Yes, the change in the on/off/video switches does take some getting used to, but it’s one of the best ergonomic changes yet made to the R series of cameras. First, moving it to the right makes it super easy to switch on and off with one hand. Second, adding a stills/video switch allows for 3 custom stills modes AND 3 custom video modes. This was not possible on the R6 with its PASM dial-only on the R5 with its digital mode selection via top screen. Canon knows this and has thankfully carried it over to the newest models.

    I upgraded from a 15MP 50D, waiting for Canon to make a full frame 24MP prosumer mirrorless which could shoot continuous video and stills for < $2500 for wildlife shooting. The R6mkII was the first one that met all my requirements as a former pro wedding photographer (I assisted Monte Zucker full-time back in 1972-74) and graphic arts professional who managed magazine production and printing with photography as an avocation.
    What I still don’t like about still camera in general is the 35mm film form factor which prevents including that is necessary for dual use CLog ISO 800 video shooting: a built-in VND filter between lens mount and sensor. I solved that problem with my R6mkII by using my EF-S 10-22mm, EF 24-70mm f/2.8 and EF 70-200mm lenses with the EF-RF VND and when Canon dropped the price of the R6mkII before releasing the R5mkII I bought a second R6mkII body.
    I shoot mostly wildlife and carry the two camera on my hip with either RF 100-500mm and 800mm f/11 for stills or the RF 100-500mm and my EF 70-200mm w. VND adapter for video. Compared to the 50D the AF and AE on the R6mkII is amazing and so it the dynamic range and shadow noise when pushing its limits. A shoot in M + Auto ISO most of the time and really don’t worry what the ISO is except under low light conditions.
    Battery life really a problem for me, it’s just a matter of buying a few spares.

    So I have 3 things. I compared vs the original and I thought the colors on the new one were more accurate on the new model. A little less red so I think that’s why the yellow stands out.
    The power button was probably because a lot of other cameras have it over there because many people like to turn it on so it’s ready one handed and that’s the grip hand.
    And as far as battery life maybe you need to do a reset or something because I thought the red indicator came on at a good time and I think the camera is rated for more shots than the original.
