    For those of you wondering. The connectors are JST ZH 1.5mm. The fans are 04010SS-12L-AA-00 and have a similar cfm to the noctuna fans.

    I pick one up at the Orange Hamfest here in south Texas and I am loving the little radio and I am putting on an Anderson Power Pole a friend made for me. Good video 👍. 73 KV5P

    Nactua is one of the best if you want high performance and quite fans at the same time. I had no idea they made fans for radios so I’m for sure picking these up

    On my radio , I just run heavy duty fans on top of the radio facing down , and also on the bottom facing up !! And keeps the radio very cool!!

    Nice work, solid upgrade for the radio. Noctua makes good fans.

    Good job
    I own 3 ft891 good value for money
    But i blew ipo att on one
    Still receives normal ok
    I was tx on 160m vertical and had it connected to my 80m dipole
    It was turned off
    Never thought it would hurt it but it did
    So be careful with that seems common problem with 991 too

    CRV is probably the composition of the bit. Chrome-vanadium.

    I am concerned about the airflow. I also replace with Noctua fans where I need less noise, but is not always possible. Could you reveal the brand and model number of the original fans please? I like to compare.

    Nice mods you've done to the 891. Do you have any experience with the 857d, or can you point to anywhere where people have done a similar thing?

    • @FITFO
      @FITFO  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t have any info on that radio, most of this was sourced by finding out the voltage and flow of the stock fans then going from there. I eventually plan on picking up a 857D if I can get my hands on one eventually but until then idk what the inside looks like or what voltage size it’s fans are.

    would be nice if you put the radio into the contest fan mode so we could hear how quiet the fans are at full speed 05-20 menu

    Hi. Any update? Air flow as good? Radio any cooler? Are they less noisy in contest mode when they shift from low to high speed?

    • @FITFO
      @FITFO  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haven’t had any problems since upgrading them noise is significantly less and haven’t had any issues with the radio getting hot to the touch anymore in the Texas heat.

    What size and type screws did you use to mount the fan to the 3d wedge?

    • @FITFO
      @FITFO  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used the mounting screws that come with the noctua fan. Just typical standard computer fan mounting screws.

    Sorry when I buy any 2nd hand radios I never buy radios that are moded I dont see the point in these mods it ruins the radio

    • @FITFO
      @FITFO  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Reasonable thinking, i guess it’s a lot like used cars, I plan on holding onto this one for awhile so I’m not too concerned as I know what has been done with it, something definitely to keep in mind however.

    • @oherrala
      @oherrala 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      A mod doesn't ruin the radio! A well done mod, like shown in this video, is an improvement. Fans are parts that can break and changing to high quality fans is repair work keeping the radio running better. The wedge in this mod is awesome idea and I consider it improvement to original Yaesu solution.

    • @terryboyle
      @terryboyle ปีที่แล้ว

      @@oherrala makes you wonder why Yaesu doesn't do this in the ffirst place.

      Run the radio in contest mode, fan runs more aggressive.....
