Are you aware that Great Britain once was an imperial power encompassing Hong Kong, India, Australia, Jamaica, Bermuda, and guess where ? Here in America. Those people were all commonwealth citizens. How could you possibly think that the Federal Communications Commission, a part of the US Federal Government could have jurisdiction in England. Oh my... I'm so conflicted.... His comments are so deranged and psychotic that they deserve to be pinned to the top but then he demanded you pin his comments to the top so I would have been tempted to refuse to pin them to the top but then his comments that deserved to be pinned to the top wouldn't be pinned......... My brain is melting.

Thanks for talking to Randy. I really enjoyed hearing from you. I have been to Rochdale for a G-QRP meeting on the other side of Manchester from Ringway. I don't know if you ever get to that side of town. It was one of the most fun trips I have ever made to England.

Again I really enjoyed this! I have a CB radio and a GMRS license and I am a General license ham operator. I believe that each has its own utility! For each his own! Or for me. All is well!

Do a show on the one radio to rule them all for SHTTF. One channel said you may need 5 or 6 radios to distribute to neighbors, etc. So, keep that in mind. Not talking about $$ radios to fondle.

Have been subbed to Ringway Manchester for a year or so and enjoy his vids a lot. Lewis presents in a matter of fact and interesting way and is easy to listen to. Really pleased you had him on- great interview.

The 446 sounds like the UK version of the US FRS, which is very limited power but shares the simplex channels with GRMS.
Yeah, PMR446 is the European equivalent of FRS. I wish we could have something like GMRS too.

You don't need to pay for a TV license if you don't watch live TV or TV on the iPlayer (mostly... there are channels you can watch on it without a license).
You can stream anything, so long as it's not a broadcast by a bona fide tv station as a live broadcast.
Only mentioning that because over here TV Licensing likes to put out the propaganda that "if you have a TV then you 100% need a license", which isn't true.

There is no freedom of speech anymore in the UK. You cannot talk about a lot of political subjects without being arrested. Offcom heavily regulate radio, TV and internet in the UK to make sure only government approved speech is allowed. GB news is a great example. They have often been warned by offcom as well as having to fire presenters over sensitive subjects.
It'll soon be here if we let them. Gotta vote freedom not oppression.

This may sound like a REALLY STUPID QUESTION, but will a repeater work after an EMP strike? I'm trying to setup coms so I can communicate with my wife in the event of a nuclear attack. I know the radios will work, but I can't reach her without a repeater

Randy, oh great one, I just found the Baofeng T26 on Amazon for $17.99 for two. This beats the the MP31 for ‘cheapest Baofeng.’ Perhaps ‘some people’ would like to know your thoughts on whether this radios are worth the monies.
Hey Randy ,let me get my colonist head around this: You know how to pronounce baofeng, a Chinese co., by asking some Japanese guy? Your kidding, right? It's like living in Canada, and me talking about how people state-side might pronounce 'ruf or but' (roof or boot). Enjoy your channel. And by the way, If your a master- baiter, I' then am a cunning-linguist. ;-) As an aside, despite the way people who aren't from China say it, baofeng is pronounced in Chinese bow (front of ship) and fung (like fungus) -cheers m8!
I remember it was BBC1, BBB2, BBC? and Sky TV. That was it. The TV license kept the commercials away except for Sky TV.
