Thank you so much for an easy to do maintenance on the brew group! I am 81 and have had the brera for almost 3 years now and love it!!! I rinse and descale my machine weekly and when called for, but I have not done the maintenance as shown in your video yet! I have always been afraid I would take it apart and never get it back together again. But with seeing your easy to do instructions, I am going to do this on my next weekly cleaning. Thank you again for your videos, they are lifesavers!

Mark, you've got a great eye for the details. Thanks for really getting in there with the camera so we can see how the brew group comes apart, gets maintained and goes back together.

Hi e, Thanks for your comment and patronage! Perform routine maintenance as outlined in manual. If you'll be doing mostly espresso set the grinder to its finest setting before adding any beans. You can always back off to a coarser setting if extractions are bitter. Also start with full-strength and high temperature setting for espresso/coffees. For larger "regular" coffees do Americanos instead of coffee on the machine. Most prefer the flavor of Americanos. Know that your first few brews will be a little weak/watery until the machine "learns" your coffee and adjusts the amount ground. Thanks for the valuable infos.
My Phillips 5440 coffee machine started to have a problem after about 10 months of use.
Machine doesn't dispense water into cup but into the tray only when making Americano.
This doesn't happen with espresso lungo or others.
Actually when making americano machine dispenses coffee first without any problems but then when it's time to dispense water, it doesn't dispense the hot water into the cup but it dispenses hot water into the tray below instead.
I've washed the brewing unit with tap water several times. I used tablet to clean it up. I cleaned the compartment where brewing unit sits inside. I've lubricated the brewing unit. I've lubricated the orings. I've checked orings but there were not visual deformation rather then one of them was slightly lose and not too tight like the other one. I pulled off the aquafilter. I tried without the filter. None of the things i've described above works to fix this problem.
I see on the internet that if i change orings it may fix the problem. But when check them they stay intact visually.
Some other people from Seatle area on internet says that technical service told them that it's a faulty mainboard and machine needs to be replaced totally.
Do you have any advice for my problem?
Would you change the orings first or send it directly to tech service?
Thanks in advance for your reading time.

Hi Hakan, I would definitely try the o-rings first - especially if one appears lose. As we service mainly Gaggia machines I have no info on main board issues.

My dispensed pucks are not coming out as solid as they use to, they are quite watery and sludgy. I assume this is due to not enough compression? Perhaps my O-ring is bad? I have cleaned the tracks and everything, but they still come out very loose and watery.

I have an Accademia from 2014 AND i regularly maintenance and clean the brew group. However, there are two orange O-rings on the water inlet nipple that are drying out and I can see a little water start to seep out. It is the water inlet nipple that interfaces with the cup on the back of the brew group. Can you tell me the replacement part numbers for those two O-rings?

Thank you. My Gaggia Accademia is giving a Brew group MAx pressure message followed by E04. I lubricated as per this video and also moved the brew group using the service mode from home to working position and back again but the error persists. Any ideas?

      Hi M, here's a video discussing the E04 error: th-cam.com/video/pXICgK5W4NY/w-d-xo.html
If your brew group is able to move properly between home and work positions the issue may be deeper in a microswitch, motor, etc. If you're in the US/Canada you can submit a ticket to our tech support team here for additional assistance: www.wholelattelove.com/pages/contact-us

Using a Gaggia Anima super automatic machine, can I filter my water separately using a PUR faucet filter and add that to the water tank instead of using a dedicated filter inside the machine? Is this bad for the machine? Can I descale the machine less often using this type of water vs regular tap water? Do I need to add any minerals to this type of filtered water?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi b, Thanks for the question. Check your faucet filter's specs but most of them do just particle and activated carbon filtration and do nothing to reduce or control the minerals which cause scale buildup. In-reservoir filters for your machine do control the minerals and extend the time between descaling. You do not have to use the in-reservoir filter. If you do not the machine will request descaling more frequently. If going with the faucet filter only do test the hardness of water after filtration and enter that into the settings of the machine so it alerts you properly for descaling.

Hi ST, Yes you can. For deep cleaning you can soak the whole brew unit in a Cafiza solution for 10-15 minutes if desired but that is not required. Be sure to re-lubricate the tracks if you do that.
