Love how Joey was the only one who honored Phoebe and resisted being a part of watching that, till it was discovered that the star was actually Ursula 😆 It really does say a lot how much Joey respects Phoebe.
The girls would not watching it as that sexual, more more curious. And it was in a video store and not taken from someone’s apartment.

Someone I went to school with went into the adult industry for a little while and I stumbled across it... I didn't watch it with sexual intentions. I watch the beginning of it out of curiosity to see if it was real. None of the friends in the the show were watching Phoebe with lustful intention, they wanted to see if it was real. Also by the by... If a friend of yours voluntarily goes into the adult industry, she's putting herself out there for all to see. It doesn't work like that where she gets to select who sees it.
I think everyone needs a friend like Joey who supports you even when your not in the room

The part they really wouldn't understand is why Rachel didn't just pause the video to see the ankle - with digital you get a clear picture, but VHS would have the lines all over.
Phoebe and Joey are HYSTERICAL in this scene, though Chandler's ankle joke is pretty great to.

The show was originally filmed in widescreen and then cropped for 4:3 on TV.
There are lots of gaffes/errors/bloopers etc like this one hidden in the edges of scenes that would not have been visible when the show first aired.
It's not even off... it's just the black backdrop from the Vampire Layer set... you see it in other scenes most of the screen is black except for the actors.

didn’t chandler grow up with butlers? am I missing something or was his tough childhood joke solely about his dad being gay
His dad was gay and would bang the pool guy, which lead to his mom being promiscuous with other men due to either loneliness or retaliation. It is implied that this lead to a cycle of debauchery in which both his parents would sleep with people in his life causing him immense shame.
Which was why he was so upset when his mom kissed Ross. Because Ross, being his best friend growing up, should know the kind of damage his parents did to him due to their … sleeping around with people in his life.
And because of his parent’s debauchery, not only did they make his life miserable by sleeping with people in his life … the home became broken, which is why he hates thanksgiving (see all thanksgiving episodes). E.g, since nothing was ever about him in his childhood … he had a lot of self esteem issue in adulthood (which pervaded every relationship he had throughout the show) and would use sarcastic humor as an escape mechanism.
Money, unfortunately does not fix a broken home and two parents that put themselves before their child.
