    Album: "A Little Bit More"
    Utgitt: 1976
"A Little Bit More" is a song written and performed by Bobby Gosh, released on his 1973 album Sitting in the Quiet. The first hit version was recorded by the band Dr. Hook; their version was released as a single in 1976. It charted at number 11 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and spent two weeks at number nine on the Cash Box Top 100. It reached number two on the UK Singles Chart. It was Dr. Hook's joint second-best UK chart placing, matching "Sylvia's Mother" and surpassed only by "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman".
    ***
Dr. Hook & the Medi cine Show (shortened to Dr. Hook in 1975) was an American rock band, formed in Union City, New Jersey. They enjoyed considerable commercial success in the 1970s with hit singles including "Sylvia's Mother", "The Cover of 'Rolling Stone'" (both 1972), "Only Sixteen" (1975), "A Little Bit More" (1976), "Sharing the Night Together" (1978), "When You're in Love with a Beautiful Woman" (1979), "Better Love Next Time" (1979), and "Sexy Eyes" (1980). In addition to their own material, Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show performed songs written by the poet Shel Silverstein.

    Lyrics:
When your body's had enough of me
And I'm layin' flat out on the floor
When you think I've loved you all I can
I'm gonna love you a little bit more
Come on over here and lay by my side
I've got to be touchin' you
Let me rub your tired shoulders
The way I used to do
Look into my eyes and give me that smile
The one that always turns me on
And let me take your hair down
'Cause we're stayin' up to greet the sun
And when your body's had enough of me
And I'm layin' flat out on the floor
When you think I've loved you all I can
I'm gonna love you a little bit more
Got to say a few things that have been on my mind
And you know where my mind has been
I guess I learned my lessons
And now's the time to begin
So if you're feelin alright and you're ready for me
I know that I'm ready for you
We better get it on now
'Cause we got a whole life to live through
And when your body's had enough of me
And I'm layin' flat on the floor
When you think I've loved you all I can
I'm gonna love you a little bit more
And when your body's had enough of me
And I'm layin' flat out on the floor

I used to sing this song to my sweetheart back in the 70s, and on for years and years after we were married. I lost her 2 months ago after a lengthy illness. When she was at her worst times in the hospital, I would crawl up onto the bed beside her and sing this and other old love songs. At first, it was almost like magic, as she would get better and amaze the doctors and nurses. As a physician myself, I have seen many things turn patients around, albeit sometimes only briefly. Music was sometimes the strongest medicine. Regardless, after 8 months, she finally passed away with me holding her hand. I still love the old songs, but while they bring back many good memories, they also refresh my mind with the realization that I won't see her until my time comes. I am going to repeat her last words, I love you baby.

I am so sorry to know of your loss. When I hear this song and several like it from that era, my mind goes right back there... my husband is a singer and musician , yet never sings at home, :(, but the songs Ive heard him sing on stage still echo and our love of 50 plus years is as powerful and love portrayed in this music.

We were together for 47 years and 15 days including the 5 months and 29 days of dating prior to becoming husband and wife. A whirlwind romance that lasted when others said it wouldn't. One of the regrets about getting older is, as much as you cherished the '70s music back in the day, and after seeing the degradation of things today, listening to these songs again takes you back to a better place where you can cherish them "A Little Bit More".

@@davinastanton3865 - I've found that the hard part of getting old is seeing friends and loved ones pass on. I truly believe that it's they who keep you going both physically and mentally. Without them, you slow down and find yourself in a more secluded world. I too am 66. Inside, I'm still as energetic as I was 40 years ago. But the batteries aren't as fresh as they once were, and the mechanism works a little slower.

I saw my last close friend pass in 2013. He was no relation, but he was "family" and always introduced me to his friends as "his son".
As he was lying on his deathbed, he called and wanted to borrow $75 from me. I gave it to him without hesitation, knowing I'd never get it back (I still tear up when I think about this).
After he died and was cremated, I drove down to bring his ashes back so they could be spread along the river he once lived next to - and behind the restaurant where we would spend hours on end drinking coffee with friends - all of whom have passed on as well.
I'm the only one left, and it gets lonely at times.
I still have family, but most live in other states. I have one brother that I see as often as I can, but that's all.
Other friends wonder why I don't find someone to hang out with again. I don't think they understand that there are "friends" and there are "friends".
The current friends I have I don't see every day - they're not that "close" and no matter how I try, I can't get that close to them.
No one will ever be as close as the friends I loved and miss.

I play a little guitar and so does my son. One day he said that he could tell the difference between our generations, being that I played a lot of "happy" chords like C, D and G, where he plays rather grungy, angry, power chords. I am so glad I grew up in the Dr. Hook era of "happy" music rather than the rap and seemingly depressing music of today. I wouldn't trade my music for anything that passes for "music" today! Thank you, Ray and Dennis and the multitude of real songwriters from the golden age of rock!

You mean, (and I am in no way trying to speak for you, but by realllll do you agree that real-ness that all the good music on the radio's top 40(hell even all the rest of the music back then), there was some kind of magic that you could really feel in your soul, a kind of magic that absolutely NONE of the music being written or played or mixed in this day in age has any of. Void of even a spark of what a song had in it and what it could do with its wonderful spell over us! I too am a total "wish I had gone into being a recording artist" like I always thought I would be, instead I thought I would teach my mother a lesson by joining the ARMY at the tender age of 16 1/2 after a tiny argument where she threatened to throw me out cause I quit going to school, cutting class.... which in hindsight now I totally see my wonderful mother just wanted the best for me, she is where as a child not even 2 years old she had me singing in front of my entire family at every holiday or get together. And not just music I liked, but soulful R & B, or a really sad country ballad and yes even some hot funk or pop from Motown labels. .... OMG sorry I rambled, so true and so sad though about the music of today.... And thank God for TH-cam cause we can put ourselves into a time capsul and play all those remarkable hits and let them wash over us as we sing, dance and yes MAKE LOVE TO the magic they seemed to contain!

Tiffany Guinn that is for sure what I would give to bring back that day when love was real and sincere when love wasnt just an application maybe I find it someday before my time ends I do hope I get to fall inlove again with godknows my heart desires and if I can feel this way then im sure there is more of us who will want it back and keep it real live face to face skin to skin and the sound of each others voice make u smile and warm I love love the original hearts candy kisses and holding hands

And We need women see us that way, to be loyal, nurturing, loving women. so we can show it. We've been duped into seeing each other as "wrong" but we're part of a whole.
Come ON! Carrie, carry me one more mile.
I don't know where its leading too,
But I KNOW I can make it if I LEAN ON YOU!
Alone men are broken, lost, obsessive creatures. Our anger is so hot it burns us. -But quench us with love, and we harden like fine steel.
