If you're running a server rack, it's quite possible. Servers are bundled into one big resource pool, then all of that pool's RAM gets allocated to a single virtual machine.
Security should be an expected minimum, not an add-on feature. I can understand media tools, virtualization, maybe even the hardware support being restricted to professional editions, but everyone deserves for their OS to protect them as well as possible, including securing their files and keeping them private. Imagine if certain security updates were only available for the pro edition.

Holy fuck. I just realized that I spent months trying to remotely connect using the Windows Remote Connection for fun, and it was with Windows 10 Home.
VNC is one of the solid options in my opinion, default configuration is a total lack of encryption though so at least locally run a VPN or set that up properly if you want to remote into a machine from outside your local network. I also vaguely recall that for windows 7 at least there were some registry tricks out there to enable the RDP host feature. To me one of the main reasons to go with pro though would be to have local group policy available, any windows machine feels crippled to me without that or proper domain based group policy.

No mention of Enterprise or LTSB which offer differences in the age of Windows 10 that are definitely must have features, mainly I'm talking about Group Policy Management options that allow you to completely tailor the operating system to meet specific needs of an individual or corporation as well as everything in between without the worry that a program installation or (unstoppable in home and professional) Windows update is going to revert some of the customization (like turning on spying and update features previously turned off) done. It also takes away a lot of the dangers present when n00bz start messing with the registry, registry changes are also super easy for Windows updates to overwrite/delete. Also the only way to completely stop Windows from forcing updates and permanently turn off spying/Windows 10 features(like Windows Store,Cortana,Defender and many others)without using shady and adware riddled third party software is through Group Policy Management options only available in the Enterprise and LTSB editions of Windows 10. I know there is a pretty huge amount of Group Policy Management options available for Home and Professional users ;but the ability to have full administrative control over every aspect of the O/S is limited to Enterprise and LTSB editions. Windows Group Policy Management is also an interface that provides the opportunity for the less than tech savvy to really tailor their operating system for their own personal needs and flavour without any intimidation as the GUI is very user friendly and puts everything into very descriptive layman's terms. Even the adware ridden and shady 3rd party anti-Win10 spying programs can't achieve what Group Policy Management can, none of them not even the only safe and trustworthy Spybot Anti-Beacon can come close to truly blocking Windows 10 updates and spying features, while many of the shady ones are doing far worse things (you gave them full permission to legally do) than M$. I wish Linus would do a full length video for n00bz on the dangers and false comforts of editing the Registry.
they cant "STOP" it in the outright of turning off automatic Updates but "Defeer" updates which pretty much stops automatic Updates for upto i belive 6 months before Windows force-updates.
The offline files and folders feature was the reason I went pro. When I was at university I needed large data files stored on networked drives that would slow program execution dramatically if I didn't have a local copy cached.
I use Win 10 Pro, just as I'm so tired of that "you need to run in admin mode" (even though it still occurs if you need to edit the HOSTS file) But windows 10 is dirt cheap anyway, buy a key for the OEM version online and you save 90% of the retail price.
You kind of forgot the most important reasons for getting windows 10 pro: Integrated backups to a network drive. And especially for laptops: Making network folders offline available including automatic synchronization
Good run down of the features, always wondered what it offered beyond RDP. Though I didn't realize Windows 7 limited you to 16GB RAM on Home. I knew Basic was limited to 4GB or something ridiculous. For the 99% there's really no need to go Pro. It's really just for industrial use.
One thing I would recommend when it comes to saving files is to move data from an NTFS partition to a FAT32 (x?) partition. The NTFS file security disappears, and can go back to an NTFS partition again.
The main advantage to Pro is that it can join a domain. Almost everything else... remove control, drive encryption, etc. can be managed by third party software. RAM is silly since if you are doing virtualization (other than a few specific development cases, such as VB + Windows Mobile Emulator) you are likely talking a server copy anyway. Domains aren't really needed for homes.
one of the reason why i am using windows 10 pro instead of 10 home edition, is the added support for group policy editor. the reason why that matters in my home environment is group policy editor, that is not present in home version of windows. this is needed to set windows update to only notify me about new updates, and let me decide when those get downloaded and installed to my computer. i do mostly install those updates within the same day that i get notified about them, but by doing this stops windows from using my already limited computing resources to updates when i'm doing other tasks. also it prevents windows 10 restarting on me without my permission.

What's the difference between windows 10 pro and enterprise. I had a windows 10 pro but the product key was not activating. So I have gone online and picked a random windows 10 product key and my windows now shows enterprise instead of pro.
Basicly if you are an avrage consumer using your PC for Internet and Gaming u should get Home version , anything else get a pro. I am running 6 PC at my home and only two have Pro because they are workstations (licence sayes you must use Pro for workstations) I bought those keys from SCDkeys and it was grand total of 160EUR (Office 365 Home was also bought)
@@sogerc1 Just so you know, we agree. I also use a Linux distro as well. I am a big fan of open source software, and have been for many years. That wasn't my point.
Windows 10 Pro 1903 now has a built in VM software called Sandbox, which is awesome because with sandbox you don't need another license to use all the features in a VM.
just to keep it simple: if you are going to use your windows pc for regular use or gaming go with windows 10 home. but if you are in an office environment or you are a creator use windows pro

yeah I literally only use Windows 10 because it's the most up to date and is gonna be supported for years and years yet: if I had the choice i would choose windows 7 forever but it's likely that not long from now programs will slowly start losing support for 7 just like they did with XP and Vista a few years back.
Windows XP Home Edition lacked almost half the features Windows NT and Windows 2000 had. Always get the professional Windows. Even if you have to crack it to avoid paying the hefty 200 dollars, that is still better than using an operating system lacking 50 percent of the features older copies of Windows had.
alright 2 TB of ram? mayeb in the future everyone will have a 5TB nvidia gtsex 9000 with multi hyperthreading, and yet STILL cant run games on high -.-
I need RDP access in file encryption, these features are required for basic use, especially with security being a big thing these days. They should be included in all versions of Windows. It was bad having XP home and Pro then it got worse and Apple had the "Choose a Vista" campaign saying MacOS just has one OS for every thing you need, except there's MacOS Server...
Well, at least it's clear; the main issue was that there were 6 entire non-Server editions of Windows. Both Windows and Mac OS X had distinct regular/server editions, obviously for different situations.
+J Gamez chrome for me uses a good 800mbs of ram, no extensions, vanilla, but I personally use Firefox which only uses 100mbs. and 12℅cpu meanwhile chrome ramps up to 40% for me, :/

I run Windows 10 Enterprise 64bit for no apparent reason and got it for free!! 😎
Athul Krishnan
Where?
Athul Krishnan I use W10 AE x64
Lol welcome to the enterprise team
In windows xp that was great solution(not really difrece) but really you are enterprise, interesting what listed on start u?
download iso from torrent boom free
Good run down of the features, always wondered what it offered beyond RDP. Though I didn't realize Windows 7 limited you to 16GB RAM on Home. I knew Basic was limited to 4GB or something ridiculous.
For the 99% there's really no need to go Pro. It's really just for industrial use.
+Linus -Could you make a video called "Do you need Windows?" :)
I used Home version for a month once. Felt restricted while using it and trying to do anything related to the system. So that was "fun"
Just pirated Windows 10
And I used my extra 100 dollars on my graphics card :D
money well spent ;)
soundspark They won't do that, I have been using win 10 for a year now
soundspark But if I bought win 10 I won't have enough money to buy a gpu

You need to pay for Windows???

Aditya Dalmia Sure... lol
"One key decision"
Wow.
We want windows xp
I still use Windows XP and i play Call of duty 1
I still use WinXP because Win7,8,10 wouldn't run expensive AutoCad 2004
I’ve got windows 7 home basic
Yeah!!!!
I'm still using the x64 edition
I almost were convinced of Home edition until Linus mentioned Virtualization.
I still need Hyper-V for Docker
there is a form of hyper v on windows 10 home too
one of the reason why i am using windows 10 pro instead of 10 home edition, is the added support for group policy editor.
the reason why that matters in my home environment is group policy editor, that is not present in home version of windows.
this is needed to set windows update to only notify me about new updates, and let me decide when those get downloaded and installed to my computer.
i do mostly install those updates within the same day that i get notified about them, but by doing this stops windows from using my already limited computing resources to updates when i'm doing other tasks. also it prevents windows 10 restarting on me without my permission.
Naaaaah i'll just get some cracked windows.
yeah i believe in god and stuff but christ you didn’t need to do this lmao שי אביב

Windows Ultimate is the only Windows edition anyone should run. It's the fastest.
I agree 100.420%
Not exactly true, win 7 ultimate have hyper V and extra features
Pretty much the only difference
=/
i'm having flashbacks to XP vs win7
What's the difference between windows 10 pro and enterprise. I had a windows 10 pro but the product key was not activating. So I have gone online and picked a random windows 10 product key and my windows now shows enterprise instead of pro.
you just hit the jackpot...
Basicly if you are an avrage consumer using your PC for Internet and Gaming u should get Home version , anything else get a pro.
I am running 6 PC at my home and only two have Pro because they are workstations (licence sayes you must use Pro for workstations)
I bought those keys from SCDkeys and it was grand total of 160EUR (Office 365 Home was also bought)
I always tried to opt for the most advanced version I could afford. More capabilities always seemed the best option.
And then, let me guess, never used them.
@@sogerc1 WTF is that all about? Cut back on the energy drinks and try meditation.

So did I... 😎
Windows 10 Pro 1903 now has a built in VM software called Sandbox, which is awesome because with sandbox you don't need another license to use all the features in a VM.

If you need to virtualize 100 instances of minecraft.
just to keep it simple: if you are going to use your windows pc for regular use or gaming go with windows 10 home.
but if you are in an office environment or you are a creator use windows pro
If i'm gonna pirate it anyways i might as well get the pro version
Am i the only one who actually buys windows -_-
Yeap, statistics say that 98% of windows licenses are bought by corporations, the remaining are people like you, aka
Add another person that bought Windows. That makes you not the only one, but wow, people here boast about torrenting Windows?
hyungwoo0312 What else do you do with it, I hate the system for number of reasons, but AC series runs only on it, so I at the same time voting with my valet and not restricting myself.
Daniel B If I'm using a service, I prefer to do it legitimately, regardless of whether I like it or not. That's pretty much the only reason.
+hyungwoo0312 You are right, but I believe Microsoft has a monopoly on the entertainment PC market, and I believe monopolies should not be supported.
I have 256mb ram
I wonder if this still applies now?
Finally i can get my 2TB ram to work, so i can play a minecraft modpack with 1000 mods.
Does Windows 10 Pro 32 Bit support more than 4 GB RAM ?
The Guy's Computer hell naw still 4gb
How am I going to fit my 3TB ram
Get Windows Server 2019 :)
buy two copies of windows 10 pro
I always choose the highest edition possible such as Enterprise.
Why use windows, when you have DOORS
Who buys windows? everyone uses Utorrent for that 😂😂
So I'm "Who"? Cool new name, really edgy.

The amount of people who just repeat Windows hate is happily low
I hate windows, and run Linux Mint XFCE, Android, and ChromeOS. Are you happy now? LOL! Seriously though I run on a daily bases Windows 10, Linux Mint XFCE, Android, and ChromeOS, and I just hope there is a day I can fully replace windows with Linux on my main gaming system without any issues what so ever.
I HATE WINDOWS SO MUCH I PUT SKYLIGHTS IN MY HOUSE INSTEAD
Commodorefan64 haha same. Glad someone did it. Though I was honestly expecting more "WINDOWS SPIEZ ON US!" "LINUX 4 LYFE" type of stuff. You know, the stuff people repeat without thinking
Ethan Djeric I appreciate this
+Commodorefan64 Yes I'm the same as you with these OS's!! I like Windows and the various Linux OS's I use but I would have to go for Windows over Linux but only slightly.

+Redey1290 Wait really? O.o
Uuuughn, had to buy the Professional version of Windows 7 today just so I can buy more RAM... Bah!
Did you upgrade to win10
yeah I literally only use Windows 10 because it's the most up to date and is gonna be supported for years and years yet: if I had the choice i would choose windows 7 forever but it's likely that not long from now programs will slowly start losing support for 7 just like they did with XP and Vista a few years back.
yea but windows 10 pro is purple defently worth the extra 100
Lol

@@prayagsuthar9856 Security should be a consideration regardless of situation.

I feel like this video should be revisited in the age of working from home. The extra features in windows 10 might not have been useful when you had a windows 10 machine in the office. Now, the security and Remote Desktop features are more useful. I use the Remote Desktop feature every day to access my system in the office from home.
