@@BobardeZanzibar They are usually adamant about not playing many in multicolored decks. In monocolored, you have to try real hard to not have basic lands.

Punishing greedy mana bases is the best way to make people play basics. Playing a Loot deck and running things that punish your opponents' lands (Blood Moon, Back to Basics)😊 on top of cards like Choke, Ruination, and Quicksilver Fountain to further keep them off of Mana would be super dope
Everyone should play Temur land destruction ramp control every week. It's so awesome. If only he had played a splendid reclamation after. Absolutely hilarious deck. Honestly, I'm not sure why no one called out Crim for having a Fierce Guardianship on turn 3. He literally never plays his commander out without protection. We know this from hand cameras in the past.
@josephpayton7522 True. I was more confused how no one else would destroy his Omenpath to lose him those 5 lands. But seeing Richard play mono-black and not have basics was priceless. :)
@@BobardeZanzibar True, perhaps against ramping of nonbasic is more accurate. Extra colors in decks, at least of enemy colors, were suppose to have drawbacks.

Such a satisfying Ruination. See it, yet? MLD has been gaslit out of the format by greedy players. Kaalia was at one point feared because the point was to establish a board presence and then to blow up other players' lands and thus their ability to respond. Green's "ability to rebuild" would be irrelevant, because the point would be to use your established board to smack the green player out of the game while they were stuck scrambling. It works this way in vintage-legacy as well. Tempo-aggro is wholly viable in non-CEDH if you actually affect the board prior to turn 5, and you make use of the zillions of counters, board protection, or death-trigger effects to deal with board wipes and apply continual pressure to greedy, all-in decks. The fog meta falls apart when you aren't relying wholesale on alpha strikes as your sole wincons, but you have to actually build the deck to apply pressure and interact. Even in CEDH, Winota and Edric and so-on show that if you build it properly, the strat can work (even if there the commanders do carry hard).
I have a lot of decks with expensive mana bases and I always tell new players to pick up cards that can attack my mana base instead of buying a bunch of expensive dual lands. It's a good budget equalizer if your a new player.
How do the tri color decks have more basics after a ruination than the mono black deck, why is Richard running crypt ghast if he isn’t gonna play swamps?
Yes, the Ruination-Play was awesome. But the mana reduction from Doc Aurlock made such a huge impact, i couldn't keep up with how much mana Crim saved.
