I'm glad Merlin turned out to be a genuinely good person. I was a little worried there for a minute, but it's nice to see a new character who is not two-faced.
+Kelsey Surmacz While Merlin is a good person, he also has a tendency to interfere in his prophecies. Merlin delivers his prophecies in riddles, and they come to pass in ironic ways. For example... he foresaw, the Savior freeing him for the tree. Emma was actually the Dark One, at the time.
chocolateyes613 She was the Dark one and the Savior at the same time, she will never stop being the savior because she will never stop being the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming (Product of true love)
I think the real reason arthur turned into an evil king instead of a good one is because merlin wasn't there to help arthur become the king he needed to be because merlin was turned into a tree so without him and with no one else to guide arthur he ended up becoming what he is in the once upon a time universe and I think this story is to show us what would happen if merlin wasn't there to guide arthur because an arthur without his merlin there would be consequences
I think so too the only reason arthur was a good king I the stories is cause merlin helped him and guided him gave him advice merlin was a father to arthur
I still do not like Once Upon A Time Season 5 that much and neither do I like this tv show's adaptation of King Arthur. In my opinion, Peter Pan being a villain is creative and natural, but not King Arthur. However, I like this point of view of the possibilities of what could happen to a mentee if their mentor is absence.
@WerewolfLPSoldier yeah because it's like what clarence said to George Bailey in it's a wonderful life each man touches so many other lives but when there not around it leaves alot of hole
Merlin wasn't so off yes Emma was the darkone when he was freed but Regina was the one whom placed Henrys tearsoked tissue into the pot during the series both Emma and Regina have portrayed the Savior just like rumple&hook did
I don't think anyone see or noticed this but, this whole Arthurian legends in OUAT is just showing over and over the life and fate of tragic villains/heroes! Nimue wasn't born Evil, she was just holding a lot of hatred towards the man who destroyed her village( can't really say I blamed her by seeing the view of the village) her anger towards him became stronger than her love Merlin and pushed her through getting the power of cup and ultimately becoming the first dark one and thanks to Emma's mind, we all know now why exactly all of the Dark ones become crazy over time. about Arthur, I'm not really a fan of turning a mythical hero into a villain thingy( I wasn't complaining about Peter Pan cause even Pan had a lot of signs even in the Cartoon) but not Arthur! but I mean in his own mind he's not doing this for evil actions, he's just so obsessed with the prophecy and closed his eyes on everything else, which clouded his eyes on the fact that how many people are getting hurt because of his obsession and especially his own wife but it's really not because his intentions are and always were evil, he's just delusional that thinks all of it is gonna end well. that's what I mean about introducing tragic characters and this line about "the path to hell is paved with good intentions"
isadora k they should never have even done Arthurian Legends because it was so disrespectful like they took the dark aspects of Arthurian Legends out of context.
I guess his character was both to show us how the cycle of dark one began and also to tell us that sometimes love can really be a weakness, as his feelings for Nimue have made him emotionally weak and stupid.
I genuinely loved Merlin but can someone tell me why he didn't tell Arthur that Excalibur was broken ? 'Cause I really don't understand that. Or maybe them explained it and I didn't get it ?
Actually Merlin never told Arthur that the sword was broken at all, and I am going to assume Merlin figured that Arthur would repair the sword, get rid of darkness and repair the kingdom. Which in my opinion is a bad idea because one, how can Merlin expect Arthur to stabilize a kingdom if the sword is missing its half? For a wizard who can the future clearly didn't have common sense, I mean why did he give Arthur another sword? If you think about it using a broken sword won't make any use at all.
Samantha Burkediggersam88 For a reason I totally ignore, I just saw your reply and I never had the notification... Sorry about that and thank you for helping me. I actually think that's what happened, Merlin probably saw Arthur with a whole Excalibur in hand (Maybe when he used the weird magic sand on his wife ?) and it sort of turned out to be completely wrong ? He is supposed to be the most powerful wizard who has ever lived but he is a terrible judge of character, both Nimue and Arthur "betrayed" him, I think the only person who was still loyal to him was his Apprentice ( I mean, the woman he was so in love with, did kill him through Hook ) I don't know what happened in the writer's room for season 5A but that was a holy mess...
Victoria Bay but the thing is that in a way to me Merlin betrayed Arthur in a sense that Merlin gave Arthur a broken sword that’s associated with dark magic. I want to point out that Arthur was never bad before he got the sword okay. I am wondering why did Merlin not bother to give Arthur another sword considering Excalibur was only good for dark magic, in fact pretty much of Merlin’s stuff was mostly used for dark magic, so to me there something not right about Merlin.
Samantha Burkediggersam88 Yeah, I understand your point very well, and that's disturbing 😂 You're right about Arthur, and now that I think about it, didn't Merlin have a freaking Dark Curse ready to go before he died ? I need answers 😂 Wait a second... Excalibur associated with Dark magic ? Oooh you mean the dagger ? The thing is, Excalibur is the Holy Grail but reforged, the same Holy Grail that gave Merlin all the power he has and also gave Nimue power too, so to me, the sword is a mix of both dark and light magic, hence why you can "control" the Dark One and Merlin... I think, I don't know honestly
Well actually common sense would have been wonderful here for Arthur. How is a sword going to make you a king? It's a sword simple as that it doesn't make you any more skilled than the next person it doesn't magically.make you king and even if it was supposed to be used to fight a monster it was no different than any other weapon. Arthur just had a thousand excuses as to why he failed. He failed because he chose to fail. Sure Merlin gave him a prophecy. But Arthur took that prophecy and chose to believe everything would be handed to him once he got the wlsword that's not how life works. Arthur didn't work for shit. He failed his marriage because he was more worried about the sword than his wife. He failed his kingdom because he was more worried about the sword and he failed as a king because he was more worried about the sword. There wasn't even anyone for him to fight all he had to do was guide his people and build of that. He's dumb.
+Ben Levine hes not a villain! he things he does the right things. he is more like an anti hero doing the wrong thing beliving its right but an villain UNDERSTANDS what he does is wrong but does not care expeft for when he is secretly mninde controled but noone knews
+Ben Levine To be fair Bill Cipher is right Arthur is more of an anti-hero, and I find it ironic that Merlin is a powerful wizard yet he couldn't free himself from a tree.
I'm glad Merlin turned out to be a genuinely good person. I was a little worried there for a minute, but it's nice to see a new character who is not two-faced.

Merlin is like Obi-Wan and Arthur like Anakin in this scene
Oh my god you're right
matzpls. You are definitely right. I can see Obi Wan Kenobi in Merlin and Anakin Skywalker after his turn to the dark side in Arthur.
Hope he still look like Kyle Garrick from Modern Warfare
@@TrystonTX It's the same actor
So sad they killed Merlin off like that!
We need Merlin to come back, and I would love to see Nimue return. And the Dark One After her (Gorgon the Invincible)
Yes that was stupid
@@Cuban20 never happened and left a big hole in story

@lorrietsaoussis5168 and also in the bbc version of the merlin tv show merlin was like a brother to arthur since they were both at a young age
I still do not like Once Upon A Time Season 5 that much and neither do I like this tv show's adaptation of King Arthur. In my opinion, Peter Pan being a villain is creative and natural, but not King Arthur.

Yup this version of Merlin is definitely my top favorite.
Merlin almost looks like John Legend
Merlin wasn't so off yes Emma was the darkone when he was freed but Regina was the one whom placed Henrys tearsoked tissue into the pot during the series both Emma and Regina have portrayed the Savior just like rumple&hook did
Christopher Calliste Emma put the year soaked tissue in the pot..

Merlin was great and so well cast in Elliott Knight but I wanted more
Sgt. Garrick. They call him gaz, he never said anything.
I actually sympathise with Arthur. As a character, I think he's great.
I agree, King Arthur was one of my favorite characters side by side with Mad Hatter and Jafar
The producer's should have never brought on the character merlin. They wasted the character. A huge upset.
I feel the same way, he shouldn't die, I would like to see him with a better storyline.
isadora k they should never have even done Arthurian Legends because it was so disrespectful like they took the dark aspects of Arthurian Legends out of context.

Hate her so much
Finally! Someone who agrees with me! Seems like everyone else loves her which I cannot for the life of me, comprehend.

+MsGummy101 I don't know why but it's always a hate&love for me for her.. I hate her but sometimes she has these best quotes of the show ahahaha
Join the club. We’ve got jackets.
Merlin is very handsome. However everyone in the show is attractive though
Title please
Once Upon a time s57e7 title of film
So now

And damn sexy too
