Matchbox restoration Volkswagen Camper nr 34 diecast car making doors.

The Volkswagen camper was produced by the Lesney factory in 1962-1970. Three variations of this model were made, the first of them was a flat roof camper named Caravette and I fixed two models in the film. In one I had to replace the glass and the door. Both of these things I did polyurethane resin. The biggest difficulty was assembling the model with a flat roof while fixing the door in it. 00:02:15 using molding silicone to mold the door for the second car
00:03:23 one part of the glass casting mold is lubricated with vaseline
00:04:06 the glass is made using polyurethane resin colored with green
00:04:37 gluing the plastic springs
00:05:18 making the damaged top glass from yellow Plexiglas
00:07:08 removing the paint with v33 eco gel
00:08:32 cleaning the models with a soft bronze brush
00:09:06 drilling holes
00:09:59 applying anti-corrosive epoxy primer
00:10:54 applying paint
00:12:03 making a table from plastic
00:13:06 strengthening the plastic springs with inserts
00:14:14 painting the wheels with brake fluid
00:14:34 using PVC shine liquid for the wheels of the second model
00:14:47 creating axles from nails
00:16:07 gluing the top plexiglass window
00:16:54 polishing the glass with Sonax paste
00:17:40 assembling the parts together
00:21:07 painting the logo with silver color marker
00:22:01 cutting the boxes based on the original ones
00:23:24 the finished restoration

Superb. They both turned out like new. Notice how the opening side doors are on the left side of the campers. They are oriented for RHD vehicles, which is expected as Matchbox is from a right hand drive country. Bit of a shame Matchbox chose such a dull silver colour, when these VW's are made for 2 tone paint. The price of having to make them to sell at a certain price point.

Yet another great video. I noticed the problem you had with the doors I had a similar problem. Next time try using a post-it note (Sticky note) to hold them in place. Just cut the very low contact part and use it like masking tape to hold the doors it hold them in place and won't leave any Mark's on the paintwork.
