It might just be my memory getting bad, but I'm sure mine was Sprung the other way and flipped open rather than flipped closed. Still a marvellous restoration though, great to see it given new life. 👍👍
I have just restored mine, luckily it wasnt in bad condition, original tracks and missile etc...just needed taking apart and the green respraying and new shado 2 decals...looks brilliant.
It looks a lot like that Alvis 6x6 allterrain vehicle. I love my white BP version from Matchbox because it was a pure adventure car. And allways love my U.F.O vehicles. Even remember that old series. It took a longtime 'till they showed one of the aliens. And the girls from moonbasis were gorgeous. It was a dream of the future past
So cool. I had one when I was maybe 5. Never had any idea where it came from. Mine was missing the tracks and rocket launcher but I didn't care. The flip over top was my secret stash for rocks, or coins, or whatever a 5yr old finds that qualifies as treasure. Haven't thought of this in 50 years. Thank you. I'm in the US and we never had the show UFO, though we did get all the toys from UK television. It was lost to us kids that these were from a show!

Restauro complesso, che ha richiesto tutta la tua maestria per essere portato a compimento. Soggetto inconsueto, che non conoscevo, e che hai riportato in condizioni eccellenti. Come sempre tanti complimenti!
Excellent work. A great series that I was too young to see at the time, BUT the toys were still around when I was 5 - 10 years old and still owned by kids I knew at school. You got the spring release the wrong way around on this toy. You release the switch and the missile launcher flip / rotates around and appears. Then you rotate it back by hand and lock it in place hidden under the roof. Its meant to appear by pop up from the spring not by rolling it around by hand / manual. It even says that on the box you made. - "Button release flip over roof." Still its a great to see another iconic toy restored...
You certainly like a challenge. The finished model looks fantastic and that rocket launcher sadly wouldn't be allowed on models made today because of its power.
absolutely fantastic !!!! Paul thats another blast from my childhood that i always wanted to own , but never did , thank you for this beautiful resto !!!!!!!!!! ....Shaun.
Excellent restoration as usual Paul. Thanks for bringing back the memories, though I didn’t have one lots of my friends did when I was a kid back in the 70’s👍
The missile was yellow and black for the US version I had, spring fired it with the manual release on the launcher. Find the missile I suspect was the hardest thing to do? Also the treads are pretty rough, not sure how you can replace them at some point? Maybe create a mold from the better of the two? I have seen pictures of missiles that were white and red, but mine was black warhead with yellow body, rather short, where the red and white are much longer, and seem too long for the scale. LOL... just found the replacement missile on sale on eBay! Wow. Your missile is a bit too long compared to the black/yellow one I had. And the war head is not shaped completely correct compared to mine, if you look at the various pictures via Google you will see what I mean. However, absolutely, excellent work in total, the minor differences with the missile noted.
An excellent restoration to the original colours as used by Dinky. I’ve seen some restorations where they are restored to TV appearance in a light metallic blue. Only one issue at 29:18 - when the lever is moved, the lid should flip so the launcher is revealed. That way, the vehicle is ready to tackle the UFO threat. It’s a straightforward fix to move the mechanism to do this. It doesn’t take away from the awesome work you have done! Thank you!
I am amazed at the engineering of this model, Maestro. Watching you dis-assemble all the mechanisms with their different, specific metallurgy reminds us of the wonderful era of diecast toys this came from! All the somewhat tedious fabrication of wheels and such you managed with a deft, patient hand. The finicky mechanisms yielded to your sure attention admirably. And, as always, your box fabrication was second to none!! Beautiful job, Pawel!!❤❤ Stephen
These larger sized TV/Movie tie-in models are where your skills really shine - I wish you'd do more of them especially any other Gerry Anderson you've not yet tackled: Joe 90's car? Eagle Transporter? FAB 1?
Dinky did their usual thing here - make the (very accurate) toy the wrong colour. The SHADO Mobile has tracks, so it's a kind of tank, they assumed, and painted it 'Olive drab'. In the TV show, 'UFO', the machines were a very pale metallic blue. Honestly, though, I think the military green does look better.
@@mikes5637 - All because a Child Psychologist told Dinky that children did not like playing with white coloured toys. Yes, really. And yet, I remember owning several toy ambulances as a kid, and loved playing with them, as well as toy Polar Bears which I loved, too. 🤔🤔🤔
Oh, now you've done it. I now have to tear up my house to look for mine, last seen in the late 70s 😢 No doubt under decades of junk in any one of four rooms. Fortunately its in good condition as i recall, though the missiles broke very easily and only days after i received it 😭. I'm sure if i had the pieces modern glues could be used but 50 years later id have more luck finding Lord Lucan. Though i will have to see if i can somehow find replacement parts. Not having gone through your video, do you mention how or where they might be found? Luckily my Eagle (with the green front module) is in near perfect condition no doubt sitting next to the SHADO mobile. Thought about buying the MPC MODEL, but as an unpaid carer i can barely buy new shoes. If you have the info, i do apologise fod not finding it, but any thoughts on how to find new parts for replacement? Thanks for listening. Cheers and thanks for the video. Thank you very much, I print packaging on cardboard from 230 g on a special machine in a digital printing house, and I make the boxes myself, you can watch a video on my channel how they are made. Best regards.

This was my must have Christmas present when it first came out. Another excellent video. I remember on mine though the top catch caused the launcher to flip to the open to fire position from concealed. I presume it's just how the release spring is set during assembly.
Great find for it's condition especially to have its original tracks wouldn't thought they'd be easy to track down or replicate not to mention great restoration you've done a phenomenal job it's beautiful definitely agree with you on the darker green paint you used really looks the part makes it look good some of the earlier dinky toys the greens they used were so bright and loud some of them just didn't look right never really understood why dinky never used screen accurate colours though what there supposed to be as seen on TV I always guessed it had to do with something like licensing/copyrights I had a dinky interceptor model missing it's missile car boot buy but loved it as a kid played with it loads favourite toy to be honest but always wondered why did they pick that god awful green over it's white and red colour scheme lol I searched high an low for sky 1 which was my screen favourite I hoped dinky did one but found out they only did interceptor, ed strakers car, shadow mobile 2 and a shadow mobile transporter truck bit sad think they missed a trick there skydiver would have been an awesome toy don't know why they never built one
As far as I know at least until Round 2 gets around to it with their UFO license the only Sky1 outside of garage kit models is the old Japanese Imai " toy you build " model kit.just built the Sky1 and Shadomobile kits earlier this year and they're decent kits with a bit of extra work.
you are right, if they had decided to make the model you are writing about, it would definitely have been a sales hit. At that time, when it comes to painting, it seems to me that they simply did not pay much attention to it and painted it in the color they had the most at that time. Best regards.

the weathering, wear, and tear looks good; it give it some character, no need fixing. Only the tracks and it's tires and the missle launcher needs some fixing.
Dinky made some great Sci-fi TV models. I had the Space 1999 transporters and the Star Trec USS Enterprise, which was incredibly heavy due to it being almost all diecast metal. Great for hitting my older brother with lol
I prefer a flat of matte paint finish over the glossy coat you used. This diecast model looks better in a flat/matte dark green. Your restore looks too shiney/glossy. Still, another impressive Dinky restore, by you! I have been a watcher of your YT channel for a few years, now, and your diecast toy vehicle restoration skills are truly impressive to watch! You do an amazing job of restoring old diecast vehicles from the past! The green color was cool, but inacurrate to the show, but green would still work, on these models, or real life vehicle, to help hide/camouflage these vehicles in any type of forrest/jungle setting. I own a pair of these Dinky UFO S H A D O mobile assault vehicles, that were fully restored to look more like the miniature remote control model vehicles from the TV series. Mine were painted in a metallic/metalised blue-gray color, instead of the dark, forrest green that Dinky painted these. It is NOT that dark metallic blue, that Dinky used later to paint these. The metallic blue/gray color on my Dinky diecast S H A D O mobiles was painted in a color that is a better color match to the TV show remote controlled moving miniature model vehicles, right down to the color matched plastic tank tread hubs These look fantastic! The actual color of these model mobiles were a matte/semi-gloss gray or blue-gray. Depending on your TV or how these were lit for filming, sometimes these models looked gray, sometimes they would look more blue, in color. Awesome restoration job! Really like and enjoy watching your channel!👍🏻🤜😀
Watching this brought the memories flooding back - I had one of these as a kid and loved the show too. Great job on the restoration. My recollection is that the little lever at the back caused the roof to flip open and reveal the missile, then it had to be closed by hand. But I could be wrong - it is a while ago!
That is very cool. I enjoy watching your real restorations. There are a lot of fake restoration videos out there where the builder makes the toy look like it’s old and in need of repair. I like your honest builds.
Had the models as a youngster, one thing always bothered me at the time, the colours that Dinky used were all a bit random, for instance the UFO interceptor was bright green and of course in the show it was white...why?
Yeah the same happened with the Eagles from Space 1999 .. they where White in the show ..but dinky brought them out in Green/Blue ( and a rare White Freighter). apparently they thought that an all White Eagle would be boring for children (They where kids toys after all) so they Jazzed them up in the odd colours .. I suspect that is what happened here with the Interceptor ( unless they had lots of Blue/Green paint stocks to use up :)
Oh my goodness. When you picked up the hammer to flare the axle pins, I went wild. I've only ever worked in plastic. I bow in your direction watching your craftsmanship, sir. Fantistic piece of work. I've seen some of your other wonderful vids before, but didn't comment. This thing, though..amazing. Shado should hire you for maintenance in their shed. We did get Anderson's "UFO" over here in the US..IIRC it was on 'Public Television; like old Tom Baker "Doctor Who" episodes were.
It might just be my memory getting bad, but I'm sure mine was Sprung the other way and flipped open rather than flipped closed. Still a marvellous restoration though, great to see it given new life. 👍👍
Thank you very much
It is not your memory, you are correct. It should flip open rather than closed.
I had several of these growing up.
Spot on, but what a fine restoration.
Yep totally agree a top restoration but but my original flipped the other way 😊
I have just restored mine, luckily it wasnt in bad condition, original tracks and missile etc...just needed taking apart and the green respraying and new shado 2 decals...looks brilliant.

Great ,memories!! I remember Striker futuristic car, I hope you can find one and restaure it. As usual, Great restauration!!
Thank you very much
I had one of these back in the day, as was often the case with such toys the missile soon disappeared never to be found.
I find it ironic that this was the Gerry Anderson vehicle Dinky could have legitimately painted metallic blue but decided to paint green.

I had one of these as a child! I loved it
What was that track made off, still flexible and still perfect after all these years.
Old school (possibly harmful - if you are a load) PVC. I have my original one from 1971, and the tracks are still good.
One thing though, mine opened upp showing th missile not hiding ot like yours did.
Yes, i think so
Wow, very good, but shouldn't it be a mat green.

I had it and the interceptor. Both were cool. I don't think they ever made the ufo?
I had one of those. I kept losing the little yellow missiles with the red "warhead".
Tops
Thank you very much
Работа супер Пол, модель класс, люблю не стандартные модели, модели с рекламой фирм
Very impressive, Paul!
Thank you very much
I prefer a flat of matte paint finish over the glossy coat you used.
The metallic blue/gray color on my Dinky diecast S H A D O mobiles was painted in a color that is a better color match to the TV show remote controlled moving miniature model vehicles, right down to the color matched plastic tank tread hubs
These look fantastic!
Thank you very much
Amazing work as always!
Thank you very much
Watching this brought the memories flooding back - I had one of these as a kid and loved the show too. Great job on the restoration. My recollection is that the little lever at the back caused the roof to flip open and reveal the missile, then it had to be closed by hand. But I could be wrong - it is a while ago!
Thank you very much
You’re quite right. The radar thingy switch flipped the missile out. Our cat never saw it coming 😂
Absolutely, that is my recollection too :-) Otherwise very authentic to the original, which I still have :-)
I have one of these I " restored" and painted in the 1970's/ 80's MERDC camouflage . Would have been cool as a replacement for the M-113 .
Cool
That is very cool. I enjoy watching your real restorations. There are a lot of fake restoration videos out there where the builder makes the toy look like it’s old and in need of repair. I like your honest builds.
Thank you very much
Had the models as a youngster, one thing always bothered me at the time, the colours that Dinky used were all a bit random, for instance the UFO interceptor was bright green and of course in the show it was white...why?
Yeah the same happened with the Eagles from Space 1999 .. they where White in the show ..but dinky brought them out in Green/Blue ( and a rare White Freighter). apparently they thought that an all White Eagle would be boring for children (They where kids toys after all) so they Jazzed them up in the odd colours .. I suspect that is what happened here with the Interceptor ( unless they had lots of Blue/Green paint stocks to use up :)
👍👍👍
Thank you very much
Oh my goodness.
Thank you very much
I remember getting one for my sixth Birthday in 1977. I absolutely loved it.
