    From my experience Porsche owners take care of their cars better than other high performance cars.
    My Panamera Turbo still drives like new even 10 years later. The quality of of products and the care in those cars are very impressive.
    The design is also very unique compared to other sedans. Porsche lead the industry in 4 door coupe design. It was controversial at first but aged very well.

    We have a 2010 4S with 102,000 miles to date. What happened over the years: high pressure fuel pump failed and dealer replaced, air suspension failed and pump was replaced on my dime, first brake work at 99,xxx and only fronts, rear brakes are still in spec. The cam adjusters were serviced under recall, no issues there. We keep up with maintenance-especially plugs/coil packs (I am told the coil packs are problematic). Oil consumption is within spec but high in my view. Our driving is long distance mainly and in extreme comfort still. Everything you say here about the Gen 1 Panamera is consistent with our experience-best car I have ever touched!

      I also have a 2010 4S and absolutely LOVE it!! What colour is yours? I went with the less conspicuous silver. Less tickets! lol I had a few issues that I inherited from the last owner which I fixed immediately! The cracked windshield could not get fixed fast enough!! And so far, a year and a half later, aside from the coolant over flow cracking recently, which is nothing, ($200 ca) it's been amazing. I loved both my 911's but this car is special and you just don't see many of them on the road which I love! Still, when I step on that gas pedal, hear that engine and feel that power, I can't help but grin. And if one more youtube creator calls our sexy car ugly.....ggrrrrr I have been in LOVE with the body type since it first came out, where is this coming from??? Clearly they are just jealous! lol And it's much much sexier than the Cayenne, especially the older ones which I had and was not a fan. This is my favourite car to date and I've had some nice ones. Take good care!

    At 59:40 _"...it's as wide as a Tahoe...."_
    It might be a long, large, wide car. But unlike a Tahoe (or any other oversized S.U.V. or pick up truck of the last twenty or so years) if it smashes into your car in an accident, you won't automatically be killed in the vehicle the Panamera hits.
    So, big plus for the safety of other road users. Thank you Panamera owners.

    Wow, those resale prices! $30k for an 11 year old Porsche with 95k miles and no warranty is asking for a walletectomy. As much as I like these, I know brake jobs are $1500 for the front only. $30 grand isn't really an indication of the maintenance required for these.

    • @jruerph
      @jruerph 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Ideally you should be able to turn an occasional wrench to make these cars more affordable. Brakes, spark plugs, coils are definitely DIY projects.

    • @thomashelm6931
      @thomashelm6931 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No way should it cost that much!
      Frankly, I've been disappointed with the dealerships. High prices and "service advisors" that don't know cars and oversell. I've bought OEM brakes, rotors and sensors that my reliable independent German car mechanic will put on. All for less than $500.
      Again, it's not cheap like my Toyota 4Runner, but that's a ridiculous price quote.
      If I was younger, I'd do it myself.

    I would go with one of these cars if Porsche would let the PDK get repaired...my local shop says it is a 15-25k bomb that is affecting a lot of cars, not just the panamera. Shame on Porsche. I had a 996tt and that had glue issues (why did they glue things on the panamera again...ug porsche).
    So if porsche would help owners fix issues from their design (glue) and open up repairs to the transmissions...sure.
    Until then, buying a porsche with a pdk is a silly thing for anyone. They are cheap because they hid huge costs.
    Bore scoring.....coolant tube engine out fix (literally called a shop and yep, 2500 for a cheap part...designers need to design things for repairability...). I really want one of these cars but from my point of view they are just too much of a risk. Air suspension - shop said these can be costly at 4k per corner...
    Anyway, Porsche needs to open up on the tranny fully. And cover standard dumb design fixes including bore scoring. Finally, they need to sell a standard non air suspension retrofit ... Simpler can be better....

    2014 Panamera suspension - I recently drove a 2014 model 4 , 80k miles, and the front had a bad knocking over bumps. I see from others posts that these models have a problem with cheap A arm bushings. Has that been a problem on newer ones? The oil consumption v-8 is a shame. These should not leak internally like a Wakisha lubing the valves. Sounds like a design issue too costly to fix so lower the standard. I would still own one but be selective on which model. Good info and thanks for sharing.

    I was excited to watch this video as I love Porsches and the (used) Panamara is within my budget. So you are ostensibly giving us 10 reasons to buy one, but number 5: air suspension replacement which WILL be required doesn't sound like a good reason. Additionally, if it fails, it will leave one stranded.
    I still am thinking about purchasing one but at least I am a bit more equipped to make an informed decision once I find out how costly it is.
    Thanks for a good video, I learned quite a bit.

I had an XKR that Jag insisted all they could do was follow a flow chart, and change part X, if that did not work change part Y, if that did not work change part Z - do they refund you for fitting wrong parts - don't be silly!. I recently sold my 997.1 Turbo. It was fun and absolutely brutal. I can' t even imagine something newer, let alone an S model. I ended up getting one of the last Cayenne Turbos in 4.8L. It's amazing and drives awesome for an SUV. I'm not going to kid anyone by saying it's like my 911 - it's not. But the tech, the ride and the sound of the V8 is incredible. One of these days I'll grab another 911. If I get my way it will be a 997.2 Turbo S with PDK. For me that was the last real 911 Turbo. The 991 and 992 are just so big. Not sure I could ever be happy...... There is no substitute.

    I heard it's $25k if the air suspension goes out when you don't have warranty. I was looking for a gen1 until I looked up "reliability" issues on Panamera forums, now I'm re-thinking my choices. On a bit more positive note, they also mentioned 2010 Panameras have the in-house Porsche engines while 2011 and up use Audi engines. Not sure how that translates into reliability though :( Couldn't find enough info.

      It's definitely not $25k. The air springs themselves are a bit less than $2k a piece for genuine Porsche. Compressor is priced similarly. If you're looking to save money, get the base model with the 6 cylinder and traditional spring/struts.

    I LOVE this video, I'm a total car geek and have been a proud Porsche owner since 1998 when a bought a 2 year old Carrera 4s which was a total BEAST. I loved the old style, old clutch, it was my pride and joy but it was a job to drive! It was not a smooth drive but who cares!!?? lol I briefly had a 2004 Cayenne turbo for my winter car and......wasn't a fan of the look and it had never- ending issues, spent more time in the garage, so I gave it to hubby and got a Range Rover sport to pull my horse trailer! Then I got a 2005 Carrera 2 which was great, super fast being so light but I missed my 4 wheel drive gunning it around corners like an animal and found my front end very light. I felt like my front tires were coming off the ground coming out 2nd gear!!
    So, last year I traded it for my favourite Porsche YET!! My 2010 silver PANAMERA 4S!! I absolutely LOVE it! I am getting used to not driving a manual.... but it's great to have a choice with the paddles! It is gorgeous, I love the big wide sexy body and it's an absolute beast on the road. I think I gave the salesmen a heart attack when I test drove it!!! HAHA I LOVE LOVE LOVE my 400 HP and my V8!! I love how easy it is to handle but it's no granny car, you want to really drive it. And it's super comfortable to drive in that cockpit! It has every bell and whistle. The only thing I found interesting was getting used to driving such a huge vehicle that is the same size as an SUV!!! It doesn't look that wide and long from the outside! I laughed when you compared it to a Tahoe! It is very LONG!! Yet it is still low like a 911. With the visibility in the back window being a tad small and faaaaar away...the sensors and cameras come in handy when parking is tight!
    I tend to really drive my cars the way nature intended and push them and this car eats it up and asks for more!! And so far, the only issue I've had is happening right now, the check engine light came on, took it in right away....biting my nails and....and the good news is, it's only a leak in the coolant reservoir, a $200 plastic part. The bad news is, it's out of stock everywhere and has to be ordered from Germany but it's only 2 weeks to wait. What a huge relief!! And this car doesn't garner the same amount of dirty looks and angry men in mini vans lol...being a women driving a red 911, I got way too many cranky men giving me attitude but this one, it's so unassuming....a silver 4 seater....but I still smoke them when the light turns green and they never see me coming! lol I really want to get on track and opener her up this summer!
