      Try using the ends from the standard Axial Scx24 shocks on your double barrel shocks. They will screw on and they give improved articulation and help alleviate binding issues.

    Hey buddy, thank you so much for your tips, I was going mad trying to setup my 48mn shocks on my C10, I was ready to give up and put the originals back on, but, thanks to this video I dialed in the shocks perfectly, your last rubber bands tip is awesome, I'm running them with the original springs, positioned on the rail, not the posts, rubber bands front and back, best of both worlds, stops the nose lifting and the back axle going under when climbing up and still gives me all of the extra travel going over obstacles, my C10 went from a decent crawler to an unstoppable force of the crawling gods!!!! Thanks man

      You can try mounting those shocks to different locations to try to get the back end sitting level. You can also experiment with different springs/lengths. Sometimes you can use the harder springs that come with the shocks and trim them to a shorter length to get the height you want

    Some great tips man, excellent video!!
    I found that my best set up with the double barrel shocks was actually to use the stock spring on them, works great at keeping the original ride hight and its really easy to adjust the hight too.. that paired up with the upside down shocks made a night and day difference for me

    • @CapeCrawlers

    • @V8chump
      @V8chump ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I also found the stock springs on telescopic shocks to be great! I use stock rear shocks and extended front shocks with the stock spring. That way when I come over an obstacle my front tires try to reach down much further so I get high centered less often and with the stock springs it doesn’t flip backwards. Using the long springs that come with the telescopic shocks REALLY decreases performance because the spring makes your ride height way way too high

    That is a ridiculous and useless amount of articulation. To each there own. For me, I’ve noticed huge gains in the performance of my rig. I’ve gone through stuff where I didn’t think it was possible but yet it did and left my jaw on the floor. IMO a tire on the ground is better than a tire in the air.

    • @CapeCrawlers
      @CapeCrawlers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Ridiculous, yes. Useless? I don’t know about useless. Probably impractical. But it’s what I enjoy and one of the things that got me hooked on tinkering with these little things. I’ve got other rigs that are more practical, but my gladiator is just for fun and in that regard it’s a successful build.

    • @phantomshtter
      @phantomshtter 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dyizhere When the tire on the ground is no longer putting down a traction patch cause its on its freakin sidewall... it is useless and your ability to progress is severely handicapped. This is all very basic understanding of physics and the dynamics at play and what youre actually trying to achieve apparently. lol there is no debate to be had, its been proven more than a standing tires worth of articulation is no more beneficial and at a point counterbenefits the vehicles capability. I'll never understand what people don't get about a driveline's purpose and function. The relationship with the axles, their orientation, suspension articulation and traction dynamics are like wizardry to folks. lol He literally has a confused piece of machinery at this point. 😆 The axles are physically trying and capable of running away from each other. Check out FairRC. They're selling the motor/gearbox combo from the CR18P evo and the FCX24. One of those may work for you.

      I just wanted to say thank you for the tip I ended up getting the c r18 p Evo 2 speed gearbox and i couldn't be happier. Fits great with minor trimming. Now for a new motor I'm thinking the buzzsaw lol.

    I love the one o ring idea. The looseness of the articulation makes perfect sense. I used your idea with the linkage as well-specifically the injora high clearance, 4 link linkage. I only run one o ring on my belly dragger's linkage. It really loosens up the articulation and allows the axle to move much more freely. Would love to hear your thoughts on this

    I just wonder if of all those dozens of videos i watched nobody uses deadbolt lenght front links. When i do that stuff, longer shocks, lower mounti get so much travel that it disconnects the drive shaft. Also pushes to front up. Have to work sth. out, i thougth i could just do what i have seen in the videos, this, or your C10 or many others, looks like they all use longer front links. Did not plan to do that.

    • @CapeCrawlers
      @CapeCrawlers  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can maintain the deadbolt front links and driveshaft. A good way to keep the driveshaft in tact is some form of limiting strap. I use rubber bands on the c10, but I've seen folks use fishing line or leather straps with success as well.

      I haven’t updated mine yet. Stock shocks are ~50mm so you’ll want 54 or 58mm for a gain in travel. Powerhobby makes options in both sizes

      The C10 in this video is running a combination of 43mm double barrels in the back and stock shocks in the front. The stock shocks up front are mounted to the frame. The long travel shocks in the back are also mounted to the frame and are using stock springs from the stock rear shocks. It's a great setup!
