thanks! I have a newer version which they added a rubber ring with a layer of insulation, STILL had the same problem. I separated the wires and rolled a couple layers of tape, pushed it back in the housing and it worked. Didn't need to take off the wires and resolder, hopefully it will hold up. Shame they didn't do a higher quality fix.
unfortunately not enough, my newer one actually failed like this BEFORE my older one which is now like 6 years old lol. They did improve it by adding an extra layer of insulation and a ring to keep it in place but it doesn't work. Fixed it by separating the wires and adding tape between.
@reachtech1 hence I buy 3rd party charger + separated cable, which cheaper and mininising the risk (ie if the cable is broken I just buy new one, but dont need to buy the charger)

ebay....or from old adapters!
