unfortunately not enough, my newer one actually failed like this BEFORE my older one which is now like 6 years old lol. They did improve it by adding an extra layer of insulation and a ring to keep it in place but it doesn't work. Fixed it by separating the wires and adding tape between.

@reachtech1 so the lap top been sitting for a few years and I've charged it for a few hours but won't power up

seems the battery is gone. all batteries like to be charged / and discharged. sitting for a few years, seems to have taken a toll on this one. you can try getting a new battery pack.

maybe you could redo the process and find out if you put back correctly. you may have interfered with the hinge or the soda got stuck to some components under the keyboard causing them to get stuck. remove the key again, clean everywhere (dont use water on the keyboard- home dry cleaner will do), then reassemble coreectly.. hope this helps..

...and you can use rubber keyboard covers anytime you have a drink near your laptop...

@@reachtech1 Thanks I will try it again, though I have already several times and I now fear that I might damage the key... Normally I only have water at my desk, in a bottle which is always sealed. But just ONE TIME I get some coke take a small sip - and the disaster is here. DX

@@reachtech1 Yeah I thought I want to jump out the window... :( thank you! Right now the keyboard works, though the key seems not to be in the correct space to 100%. Sometimes it feels a bit stuck. But as far as it works as I want its ok for me. If you have any further input what I can try it would be appreciated.

hi. Get some long nosed pliers and pull it out. then clean/clear the glue which is on it and the connector. get some strong superglue and apply on both surfaces. return the metal contact to the connector and using the pliers, press hard to sit it down properly in its position on the connector (cover the connector and the metallic part with a piece of cloth to avoid leaving pliers marks on them while you are squeezing). allow to dry and ...your connector is repaired!

are you refering to the "butterfly" hinges under the keys? It depends with the key you want to repair/replace. but older/discarded keyboards are of great help..

hey, the fuse usually blows in these chargers. but you can get one from an electronics shop or from another old/discarded charger..

@reachtech1 hence I buy 3rd party charger + separated cable, which cheaper and mininising the risk (ie if the cable is broken I just buy new one, but dont need to buy the charger)
