Honestly, the manga version of Deathsaurus makes sense considering the sheer size of the station. Okay, I get G1 often was lacking on the amount of background characters besides copypasta seekers, but the idea that the whole place is a home for way-ward Decepticons that have no part in Megatron's desire for power is interesting (like the Autobot pacifist planet, before Rodimus blew it up proving why them wanting to avoid Cybertron's war was a good thing in the first place). It's an idea that hasn't really been touched on the Decepticons since Blitzwing and Octane defected from the Decepticons, one to save Cybertron and the other to escape abuse.

Funny cause he was revealed to be on the Haslab Star Saber packaging at SDCC22 I wonder if Hasbro will make him into the next Haslab project or release him in retail. Either way I wouldn’t mind having him right by Saber once he’s done and sent
That Transmetal 2 Megatron they revealed at SDCC22 has to have a Dethsaurus recolor/retool in the pipeline, right? Maybe a Selects release, with some extra accessories?
I first saw him in whatever small clips of Victory I could track down on fansites or message boards, but Deathsaurus's role in Galaxies is probably my favourite outing. He was such a good foil to Cliffjumper, so conniving yet brutish, and I'm a sucker for a good heel.
Back in the day this guy always confused me with the Megatron from Car Bots, aka, RID 2001. I liked his original depiction in IDW. His interactions with Tarn were great.
I love this character! I remember seeing Victory for the first time and instantly enjoying him. I have an incomplete G1 version, but I'd love a new one. Especially if he can compliment HasLab Star Saber!
Here's a little fun fact:if you think that Dezaras' recolor , Red geist was weird and out of the blue , but in (almost)every brave series it was very common to have a character to have a g1 recolor/remold because the toy manufacturers of the brave series is Takara tomy , the same people who made transformers.
Only ones that didn’t was Fighbird and GaoGaiGar, The latter isn’t too surprising being one of the last but the former is the 2nd entry which they could’ve easily done but instead they had a wholly original designed cast. The dinobots were in Exkaiser with an evil heavily modified triple changing grimlock as Dino Geist. We know Da Garn’s, Might Gaine had Sonic Bomber and Dai Atlas as Hiryu and Gouryu. Shadowmaru and I want to say Kagero we’re Sixshot, Goldran had Scorponok and Sky Garry as Sasorigan and DeathGarryGan… Dagwon had some Victory character who I’m not familiar with Galaxy Shuttle as Thunder Dagwon but modified to combine with Dag Thunder’s motorcycle to form Thunder Dagwon
@@brandonandcharlene9527 I was about to make the same correction, Horn Geist et al never got toys, and tbh Dino Geist doesn't really have much in common with Grimlock either besides similar dino heads
@@Xeno-The-Wanderer There was also the Dagbase from Dagwon which was a retooled Grandus from Battlestars and a robot in Goldran called Revivaron has Dai Atlas' drill, the body of Sonic Bomber and the head of Deathsaurus which the robot shoulda been referenced here in the video but that's just the head. Hehe.
And now we have an official Hasbro Haslab Deathsaurus to almost reaching it's goal to be backed! Saw the coloured renders and I backed it instantly! Absolutely amazing.
My first experience with Deathsaurus was indeed the Earth Wars game. I don't play it anymore, but the game was fun. I believe it has the largest amount of characters in any Transformers video game, and it's a great game to learn new lore.
I get to know Deathsaurus via his Botcon 2005 toy which IMO is pretty good modern imagining of him even to this day. While his Combiner Wars toy is adequate western release though could think backstory how Dezarus came to be. A) Deathsaurus, Leozack and Jallguar were fused into single being which lead the creation of Dezarus. or B) Due Jallguar been killed, Leozack badly wounded and Deathsaurus struggling to be alive; Deathsaurus and Leozack were rebuild into one and giving combiner ability to make new Liokaiser while giving Deathsaurus full control of new identity. I'm bit surprised that Takara didn't do they version of Dezarus by giving proper Deathsaurus deco.
I love Deathsaurus, he's one of my favorite japanese exclusive transformers. It's so funny to me that he even has a family that he loves, he's so awesome.
Sometimes, even the most sinister of villains can have a softer side. Deathsaurus is perhaps one of the few examples of doing all the wrong things for the right reasons. I especially admired IDW bringing aspects from the manga, having be a lesser commander with a conscious. Although, I'd argue amplifying his guilt to such a degree, even in times of conflict is unnecessary. It is like kicking the guy who is already down. As much as his lack of toy prominence is an insult to Star Saber's archrival, I have no doubt that Hasbro will eventually give Deathsaurus his proper update....but expect the name to be a bit different since a similar fate befell the Breastforce. Case in point, Hellbat was renamed Fellbat, and Killbison was renamed Ironbison (and also wasn't afraid to raise the middle finger to his opponents in combat)
Thank you for doing a video of my favourite Destron General. It's a shame you can't cover the 3P offerings but here's hoping they do release him as an official counterpart to the Haslab Starsaber, with his scimitar. I still prefer to call him Deszaras :)
I first learned of Deathsaurus as well as Victory in college, when I first gained access to something called the internet. It was the intro that came with Kid Rhino's Transformers Season 1 box set that really sparked my curiosity regarding the characters.
Victory is probably my second favorite Transformers cartoon after Prime. Its such a fun & exciting series (as long as you have an episode guide next to you so you know when to skip the clip-shows).
Deathsaurus has always been my favorite Japanese TF character, I always saw him as a Terrifying villain who could very well kick megatrons ass if he wanted to. However I also like him being a leader that treats his troops fairly and is concerned about there well-being. It gives me the headcanon that while hes a intimidating and merciless warrior on the battlefield, he has a sense of honor and standards to his villainy, a lawful evil character. I really hope we see more Japanese TF presence in American media one of these days, and with the Haslab star saber rolling around soon, I'd imagine he wont be too far behind.
Thanks for doing the basics on this guy. He's the size of Devastator, Has a planet-sized super fortress, and a Wife. (who I'm hoping will get a figure someday, I Mean Optimus has Elita so Why not a Decepticon power couple?) I recall him nearly killing Star Saber earlier in the series and if he hadn't ran out of power for that super cannon of his (This bot's got tons of weapons!!) The series would've been over!! LOL! I hope HAslab makes this guy go along with their Star Saber.
What i Always love about idw,is thé fact that they Always choose a obscure characters from japanese media and give them a important role, chromedome and deathsaurs are perfect exemples for that
That’s why More Than Meets The Eye is probably my favorite of all the Transformers comics. Sure there are mainstays like Rodimus and Magnus on the cast but for the most part, it’s B and C listers and they give them the chance to shine.
@@LordProteus bluedgon was a original Marvel comics pretender character, not a japanese character(i think he cloud work in legacy as a heavy and expensive retool of the upcoming skullgrin figure and i Hope for a rid 2015 blastwave repaint of it)
Combiner Wars Deathsaurus was allegedly supposed to be merged with Leozack and Jaruga, hence his colour scheme and how much of the combined mode he forms. Normally Jaruga would be the hips and thighs, while Leozack would be the torso and head.
Transformers Victory was my first encounter with Deathsaurus. I always wondered what would happen if Deathsaurus took on Overlord or even Galvatron. Those would have been some interesting battles indeed.
I assume he did take on Overlord sometime between Masterforce and Victory given that Overlord was leading the Decepticons as they were leaving Earth in the former series.
So I've seen all the Japanese shows and wondering if all the leaders are together (Megatron, deathsaurus, scorpinock ect...) who would be the overall leader? Same with Convoy/Optimus Prime (prime, rodimus, metal hawk, fortress) who would lead?
The autobots would likely defer to Optimus, be it out of respect or for other reasons. And, well, we know what power struggles look like with the decepticons. It'd be fun to see how the different leaders would try and get power though
I first heard of him from youtube and i search alot of info about him and i must say...he's one Decepticon that definitely is in my favourite books and the version i love most is the magna version of him
I've been waiting for deathsaurus to get his own episode for so long and it's finally here. I actually didn't know about the manga differences so that was a very fresh addition to my knowledge. Very awesome video and can't wait till the next one keep it 💯 👌.
In the highly prestigious and esteemed order and conventions involving the naming of Transformers this one is right up there tangling with the very finest.
The first time I ever used the internet back in the mid-late 90s, I discovered the Japanese continuation series and the two names I remember loving were Deathsaurus and Sky Garry.
That’s pretty cool! I’d love to see a live action take on Deathsarus, it’s the best opportunity we have for more of the character. Great Stuff, as always!
He was a piloted mecha in Da Garn, a lot of transformer designs reused were very different like villainous dinobots, piloted mecha, fortress mecha and… ninja
I think it would be a stupid decision on HasTak's part not to create a modern and decent Deathsaurus figure. His rival Star Saber was funded in a relatively record time, if I remember correctly, and I can vividly imagine that it would work the same way for him. However, we're talking HasTak here, who are responsible for some questionable decisions. I think all that remains is to wait and see.
And in other news, I say we petition Hasbro to not only make a Hearts of Iron/Steel version of this guy (Or whatever the series depicting what the G1 Transformers would've been like had they reactivated during the late 1800's->early 1900's was called.) but also finally make it into an official cartoon.
Here’s my idea for how deathsaurus could work, he starts out as a decepticion leader, leading the decepticon campaign on the dark nebula, but it would be revealed that he actually cares about the decepticons, their families and the ones injured, with him slowly losing his relationship with his wife.
Little note about that new Star Saber figure: it doesn't count for the Legacy line. He was made through HasLab's built to order scheme that's basically a form of crowd funding.
Imagine finding out that you have a chance for a new toy and a media push the finding out you have to compete with a beast wars character who isn't terrorsaur or skorpinok
I do think the Transformers Victory manga ending is rather interesting since the Autobots are shocked to learn that deathsaurus wasn't trying to conquer steal earths energy to power his warship it was to take care of women and children.
Just like how Star Saber is one of my favorite Autobots, Deathsaurus is definitely one of my favorite Decepticons. I can't wait to see when these two will cross paths again.

So yeah could we get a Kingsaurus toy please?
Funny you should say that.
Haslab Deathsaurus!!!
I like the idea of Death Saurus being a kind hearted warlord. Separates him from Megatron.
Funny cause he was revealed to be on the Haslab Star Saber packaging at SDCC22
I wonder if Hasbro will make him into the next Haslab project or release him in retail.
Either way I wouldn’t mind having him right by Saber once he’s done and sent
That Transmetal 2 Megatron they revealed at SDCC22 has to have a Dethsaurus recolor/retool in the pipeline, right? Maybe a Selects release, with some extra accessories?
Well well well.
When i first discoverd the name of this character,i thought it was something from the bayverse,i'm not even joking
Japan makes those kinds of names and somehow makes it work… probably by making the characters do cool things
Deathsaurus: "I am Deathsaurus, emperor of destruction! As long as there's life in my "breast", I'm... running out of words to say, you ready?!!!"
I first saw him in whatever small clips of Victory I could track down on fansites or message boards, but Deathsaurus's role in Galaxies is probably my favourite outing. He was such a good foil to Cliffjumper, so conniving yet brutish, and I'm a sucker for a good heel.
Wanna Bee is such a good story
Cook me something Rick.🤘😜🤘
I believe the other Dinosaur Geisters in Brave Exkeiser were modeled after the G1 Dinobots, but toys were never made.
Hehe.
Reasons I love Saturday: New episode of "The Basics" drops...
And now we have an official Hasbro Haslab Deathsaurus to almost reaching it's goal to be backed! Saw the coloured renders and I backed it instantly! Absolutely amazing.
First, Overlord, the Decepticon ambassador of destruction and now, Deathsaurus, the Decepticon emperor of destruction!
A) Deathsaurus, Leozack and Jallguar were fused into single being which lead the creation of Dezarus.
or
B) Due Jallguar been killed, Leozack badly wounded and Deathsaurus struggling to be alive; Deathsaurus and Leozack were rebuild into one and giving combiner ability to make new Liokaiser while giving Deathsaurus full control of new identity.
I'm bit surprised that Takara didn't do they version of Dezarus by giving proper Deathsaurus deco.
Hoping we get more Basics on each character from the Japanese Side since some of them were used and recolored to be part of the Brave Series.
Like Sky Garry, Dai Atlas and Sonic Bomber
I love Deathsaurus, he's one of my favorite japanese exclusive transformers. It's so funny to me that he even has a family that he loves, he's so awesome.
Just got my Haslab. I love watching the Basics when I get a new figure of the character.
I love how the sound that accompanies Cliffjumper punching Deathsaurus in the face is 'KANCH!!!!' LMAO!!!! Someone get that Autobot some Batman armor.
I've got a new role in store for Deathsaurus in my own Transformers story, and I have to admit it's outlandish enough to be amazing all its own!
Thank you so much for making this awesome transformers the basics video
I couldn't wait for a figure back in 2017 so I made a custom one out of a oversized MP Grimlock and various bits and pieces 😄
A new and very nicely done toy of Deathsaurus is now ready for purchase!!
th-cam.com/video/JLxT_xuqp_A/w-d-xo.html
This is a character I've been waiting for you to do for so long, as I've always loved deathsaurus, thank you so much for doing it!
And here we are, now in the future and the Haslab figure is wonderful!!
I've always been curious about Deathsaurus and his history. Thanks, Chris!
I first learned of Deathsaurus as well as Victory in college, when I first gained access to something called the internet. It was the intro that came with Kid Rhino's Transformers Season 1 box set that really sparked my curiosity regarding the characters.
So...
Who's coming back here after thr recent Haslab Reveal?
Me I'm gonna back him
hell I am back here after getting the haslab figure
Good stuff been a fan of the original g1 transformers series in Canada growing up never heard of this character great video Chris thanks
Victory is probably my second favorite Transformers cartoon after Prime. Its such a fun & exciting series (as long as you have an episode guide next to you so you know when to skip the clip-shows).
Wooo Haslab Deathsaurus!!!!
Deathsaurus sounds so cool I'd love him to come into the western continuity
@@nickasaro8789 I just wish they'd do Bludgeon justice.
@@LordProteus bluedgon was a original Marvel comics pretender character, not a japanese character(i think he cloud work in legacy as a heavy and expensive retool of the upcoming skullgrin figure and i Hope for a rid 2015 blastwave repaint of it)
@@LordProteus I agree, though I dunno if we'll see something that could really top his run as the last Decepticon leader in the good Marvel comics.
In this house, we Stan Thunder Clash;
Greatest Man of our Generation.
(Both IDW1 AND IDW2)
Combiner Wars Deathsaurus was allegedly supposed to be merged with Leozack and Jaruga, hence his colour scheme and how much of the combined mode he forms. Normally Jaruga would be the hips and thighs, while Leozack would be the torso and head.
@@angusmcnay5449 the official pronunciation is Jaruga, in order to distinguish him from Jaguar, the Japanese version of Ravage.
@@viralshadow Very possible. That had to have been some battle.
I first heard of him from youtube and i search alot of info about him and i must say...he's one Decepticon that definitely is in my favourite books and the version i love most is the magna version of him
And just like this guy said, THEY DID MAKE A DEATHSAURUS TOY!!!!:D
More hyped to hear he was in the Brave Franchise in a round about way. But I really liked him IDW first timeline.
Watching this in 2024 with my Haslab Murder Chicken sitting next to my Haslab Swordman+Lion Jordans and Haslab Unicorn
This makes me so excited for the new haslab
And in other news, I say we petition Hasbro to not only make a Hearts of Iron/Steel version of this guy (Or whatever the series depicting what the G1 Transformers would've been like had they reactivated during the late 1800's->early 1900's was called.) but also finally make it into an official cartoon.
Yes! We need more steampunk robots!
The whole name thing actually happened with a Godzilla character: Desghidorah, who was translated to Death Ghidorah
Now I’m imagining deathsarus as the decepticon’s head of public relations
Deathsaurus deserves more respect for his toys and his underlings
Imagine finding out that you have a chance for a new toy and a media push the finding out you have to compete with a beast wars character who isn't terrorsaur or skorpinok
Damn, we only have 3 years left before Deathsaurus comes to Earth to steal our energy.
he is evil and cruel but also a loving family man, totally take him seriously as a villain, lol.
The time has come! LET’S (say) GOOOOOO
I do think the Transformers Victory manga ending is rather interesting since the Autobots are shocked to learn that deathsaurus wasn't trying to conquer steal earths energy to power his warship it was to take care of women and children.
I agree, because it is much more interesting than your stranded ending of "the good guys winning and defeated the bad guys sorts"
Just like how Star Saber is one of my favorite Autobots, Deathsaurus is definitely one of my favorite Decepticons. I can't wait to see when these two will cross paths again.
Always right on time. With the HasLab toy fully funded and coming in 2023 I had a friend ask me what was so good about him. I sent him this video!
Where did I first meet Deathsairus? Why, as with many Transformers, that would be here.
Maybe Hasbro should have called him Grifficon in the American version because of his bird like features on him.
Great video! I just received my HasLab Deathsaurus!
9:00 "with Victory Saber on the way for the Legacy line, fans are hoping for a new, modern toy of Deathsaurus so the two could cross swords yet again."
Me: Haslab Deathsaurus has been confirmed and is being backed as we speak
In nearly 2 years time he's going to come to Earth and kill us
Deathsaurus is one of favorite transformers characters, and I'm not only looking forward to the idea that we'll get a new Deathsaurus figure, but also potentially seeing James Robert's version of Deathsaurus in more Media.
It's like you can't have Optimus Prime without Megatron (and/or Galvatron) so the same should go for Starsaber and Deathsaurus
The new Haslab Deathsaurus is awesome, I have no idea who he is
