FF8 was my favorite and I'm glad you finally played it. FF10 is pretty popular but it might be too beginner-friendly for you. FF12 is severely underrated but might take much longer than 2 days to complete on stream.
As someone who just beat FF VIII (wanting to play it before XVI), the Junctioning system isn't actually too difficult, it's just not explained well. In short, magic is more or less an item in this game - you use it like you would a potion, a phoenix down, etc. However, it's unique in that it can be connected to anyone of your stats - HP, Attack, defense, etc. So by connecting said spell to one of these stats, you're boosting that stat - some spells are optional for certain stats (i.e. elemental spells and the big damage dealers - flare, holy, etc. - for attack). It's important to note that your ability to boost a stat is dependent on the GF you have equipped - don't have a guardian force w/ HP-J as an ability, you can't buff HP. It's also dependent on what spells you have, of course. So magic in this game is like any sort of item you'd get to boost said stats - weapon, armor, etc. But you can also use said magic in battle, which means if I have 99 fire junctioned to my Attack, then if I use a fire spell in battle, I'm slightly debuffing my attack, because now I have 98 fire. However, why worry about casting one fire, when I could just spam the attack button and do insane amounts of damage? (Not always the case, since elemental affinities do matter, but still). Not to mention the difference between 98 fire and 99 fire isn't terrible, and you can always farm magic early on. You will rarely if ever farm for levels in this game, but, if you want to be OP, you are most certainly farming for magic at some point in this game. This means that low level runs of this game are not only easy, but almost ideal, at least in the early game. Enemies scale with your level. However, you have TWO ways to boost your stats - leveling up, and junctioning. So by ignoring the former and prioritizing the latter, you can technically have thousands of HP, a ridiculous attack stat, and elemental immunities before you reach double digit levels.
thanks to these streams i got confinced to play my first FF too, bought FF10 for 2 pounds on ps2, I'm gonna be playing it on my vacation back home in poland
Enjoy it. It was difficult for me when I first played the game because I was young and didn't know any better, unlike today when we have more game guides.
Wait, which version did you get for the PS2? Cause if you got the NA version, your game is missing the endgame content. The version you want is the PAL version, denoted by PAL written on the disk surface.

This was absolutely wonderful. The story is definitely confusing on a first playthrough but I think Connor picked it up pretty well, especially since he was playing on stream! The systems are a little unintuitive, but seeing a newbie pick it up with a little help has been great. Tbh, FF8's style and spectacle is still a hard ask to beat, even now. Everything still looks and feels awesome (the literal meaning of the word). So glad this was your intro to the series. Am surprised there was no mention of Squall/Monke's fursona being one of the final bosses, but it's forgiveable.

FF8 being the only final fantasy I actually played back in the day, since then I've only finished 15, I was surprised to see this the one that Connor ended up playing but not that surprised given Mouse asking him to play it previously. Good to see it featured here when all I heard about it back in the day was how terrible it was, more glad to see that the reputation has somewhat shifted but I know it hasn't really. Good game, I didn't get that ending or see any cutscenes when I played so seeing that ending also made me somewhat emotional too and given what I know about stories like this these days... even more so; it's such a teen fantasy 90s Japan game but the way it just keeps going is awesome and different... ahh. Thanks for playing through looking forward to the ff16 one but I might hold off on that til i play it.

This FF is the 1st FF that I played fully, 100% completion and multiple times. Love this game so much, shape my teenage edgy phase. Love squall and his broody attitude. The CG in the game is mind blowing at that time, CG then gameplay without any cut is unheard of at that time, feels magical. Thanks for reminding me of that feeling.

So by ignoring the former and prioritizing the latter, you can technically have thousands of HP, a ridiculous attack stat, and elemental immunities before you reach double digit levels.
I just can't get enough of FF8 X) thanks for playing it Connor!
Final Fantasy IX next please =)
It's my favorit. I also really love VIII and enjoyed this video a lot, thank you!!!
thanks to these streams i got confinced to play my first FF too, bought FF10 for 2 pounds on ps2, I'm gonna be playing it on my vacation back home in poland
FF10 honestly my favorite followed by FF6
Excellent choice! Its the perfect game for anyone starting Final Fantasy, and has arguably one of the BEST storylines in the series.
@@AbRas644 Basically, all you lose though is the extra post-game super bosses so it doesn’t matter too much in the long run.
Connor made me want to play this game again.
I still didn't come out of the Garden and am amassing a huge collection of Triple Triad cards for 3 hours.
that`s me playing FF8...triple triad is too addictive haha
Carding every monster you come across is peak FFVIII gaming.
FF8 was my first FF game, I hated it when I first saw the game case, but the intro cutscene hooked me so hard. Still my favorite to this day; definitely not a bad pick for first FF :3
yeah 8's marketing was bad
8 was the final fantasy for 7 veterans for sure
modern(ish) western tech and culture, guns guns guns, cars trains and planes, ect.
so as your first ff yeah its rough lol
@@aa-tx7th I wouldn't say it was rough, but it's so different from previous titles that I understand when & why people don't like it.
Always super happy when others DO like it, though c:
I think the marketing ruined it for most people. Playing it blindly you would have alot of fun. Yes. monsters level up with you. but I always like leveling up to 100 for more challenge.
I hope he plays 10 at some point, it’s always been a favorite of mine.
FF8 the first FF game I played and it’s my favourite game ever!! That song brings so much gushy nostalgia 😍😍😍
8 is for sure my favorite. I’m thrilled he played it
I’ve played some 7 crisis core, 7R, 12, and finished 15 and almost through with 16. Absolutely so much fun to watch this and learn more about the older ff games!
Ah you missed the golden era really. 6-10 were the big ones.
@@jaybee4288 5 is a classic, would absolutely recommend that one as well if you don't mind the less serious tone
Fun fact: Seifer is called Cifer in the German version because Seifer means... soaper if you translate it literally to German. lol
Yh it means soap and soaper, some of us love to seifer up our balls....
Yep
Eathel: you think I'd ever play FFX on my own free will? Dude thats what p***y does to a man.
Conner: **plays FFVIII**
That's what was going through my head the entire time 🤣
If I get a dollar for every time Connor exhales loudly, I'll be rich in an instant.
its honestly what got me to stop watching his fear and hunger playthrogh cause godd@mn he was literally sighing every other second in the vod
i get that he doesnt mean to be annoying but holy f!%k...
have some self awareness
2nd channel has been posting bangers after bangers, loving it
FF8 being the only final fantasy I actually played back in the day, since then I've only finished 15, I was surprised to see this the one that Connor ended up playing but not that surprised given Mouse asking him to play it previously.
I'm so glad ff8 is getting some more love from people
hopefully qell get a proper 8 remake but you know 9 will get one first
9 is my favorite ff but we all know 8 is the red headed stepchild that mom forgot at the bus stop :(
24:22 i recognize that anotic dance music anywhere, mudan is on that disco elysium grind.
Uses fire in a fire temple to a fire god who lives in a volcano inside the fire temple. "What do you mean fire healed it!?"
this game boosted my reading from Fischer Price to college graduate, best rpg ever made
this was my first final fantasy game as a kid an man did it change the course of my gaming life, so cool to see another person experience it for the first time in 2023.
Mouse comparing the level of difficulty of this FF with pokemon feels like comparing UNO with poker.
As someone who has never played final fantasy and has never seen anything about it and knows nothing about it I am so glad this is how I am introduced to the game
Mousy at 34:00 or so when conner asks if he is dead and Ironmouse says "No.... or are you?" love it xD
Wow. What a wild and hilarious ride.
I would love to see him continue FFXVI but maybe when more viewers know which side quests to pressure him into doing lmao
ff8 is probably one of the better jrpg to start on due to the power scaling of the enemies. you dont really run into situations where you have to grind
you should definitely play more and I'd recommend 7 for obvious reasons
BRO I LOVE CONNOR EVEN MORE MAN, WHENEVER IM PLAYING SOME GAME HE MIRACULOUSLY POSTS ABOUT THE SAME GAME
The thumbnails never miss!
I heard Conner say on stream that he wanted to play every FF now in a similar fashion to how he did this stream. I thought he was joking but he seemed quite serious.
All I know is that I would fucking giga nut if he played through 14's MSQ. I think Conner would actually enjoy the game, what with the community shenanigans and the combat once he gets more abilities.
loved it! my fav besides 14 is 9 so i would say maybe play 9 next. It has many characters with super fun personalities where you could rly do some great va work
This is my favourite final fantasy and enjoyed watching you both going through it...I know I'm going to return to this video a lot 🎉
8 was one of my favorites when I was a kid, 4 is also pretty good.
The edits are fire!
I’m saving this and will watch it after I complete FF8.
At last.... The man who once hated cutscenes in game is now playing a game with thousand cutscenes.... Proud of connor, for sure
I'd love to see you tackle ff9 next!!!
Title redemption, noice. Watched the 4 vods, will still watch this, 100% worth it.
Funny watching Connor playing this game. I beat this, but forgot how long it took me. We even used "Eyes on Me" as our wedding dance song in 2005.
Rinoa is best girl. If it wasn't for her limit breaks, I wouldn't have beaten Ultimecia.
That being said, FF VI is much better. It's my most fav. FF game.
This game is like throughout the entirety, a chore but- towards the ending as you get invested in the story and the credits roll it becomes the most beautiful thing ever.
Ngl i love mudans little subtitles of random connor quotes
This might be my favourite CDawg video so far. Would love to see you tackle 7 next, but really whatever one mousewants to backseat on would be good
i was the entire video laughing non stop. But i cant believe that i couldnt stop crying with the end
I hope he plays more FF, 9 is my favorite.
As a die hard Final Fantasy Fan (Pre-13 anyway) I picked a great year to find out Connor exists.
FF8 is also my favourite Final Fantasy game, it was so cool seeing someone still enjoy it. 😄
I kinda want to see him play FFXV to have the road trip with the bois!
The story in that and 13 I just feel isn’t up to the same standard of every other FF game so I think other FF games would be better for him to play
He probably wouldn’t make it but pitioss is always fun
I like the fact that he is yelling I'm pressing kick and hold up the controller he is hitting the WRONG BUTTON.
I love how the editors used the rave song from Disco Elysium when I know for a fact that there is no way Conner could possibly make it through that game
The disco elysium music almost made me spit out my drink. I wasnt expecting that
1:06:29 if he thought thst summon was long no one tell Connor about the knights of the round table from final fantasy 7 😅😅😅
MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORE! I NEED MORE CONNORFANTASY!
Connor: We're the terrorist! I think!
**Shouting from afar**
Barret: "ECO"-TERRORIST! 😎
😂😂😂
i remember kids in school talking about this game. i have finally seen it via connor, and i still have no fkn idea what is going on, or why people were so enamored with it.
Gotta agree with Connor on this one this game hella confusing, Pokemon is way easier compared to that
I hear that Disco Elysium music, and I appreciate it!
few mins in and I like I think Ironmouse being a part of it and a bit of the banter.
8:03 You enlisted in the military to pay for college and a war breaks out thousands of miles away.
ive literally never heard 8 be called the best one but im glad u enjoyed
Oh will you look at that Conner's ACTUAL first JRPG! LET'S GOOOOOOOOO!
What an amazing video. Would love to see more Final Fantasy content~ Maybe 10 next?
"Change her name" love that She knows shit that Connor didnt
This was wild. I'll never play most of the FF's, but it's nice to have a nibble here and there. Thanks for sharing you two!
Read the Eureka 7 manga. It's only 6 volumes. The show is wonderful but too long imo.
There were a ton of shared story beats between this, Evangelion, E7, and hundreds of other media. But I have my top favs
This makes me just want to see how they remake this
That stream was so fricking amazing, too bad i couldnt watch most of it, i remember i was watching on my phone around 6 am at work when he was fighting last boss.
SEEDAWGVA I BELIEVE CONNOR IS A SEED. Great work for the editing team please keep up the work and continue entertaining us with your dea- ffunny humour (connor and mousey too good work)
FF8 is my favorite one. He picked a damn good one to start on
Now we wait for him to keep playing FFXVI
The expressions on Mousey's gremlin model bring me life
