I'm not entirely sure. The question is whether the casting was altered enough for the new canopy to be considered safe, which I really don't know. All I can say is that I've seen countless smooth canopy fans paired with canopy clips (my PB Delta II being one), I'm not sure of any years offhand. And again, there were no exceptions stated in the recall wording. I've always said smooth canopy fans were safe, you've got me rethinking that now. Perhaps we need to be looking at the date instead of the canopy design...
Yeah I was thinking Casablanca may have already made it strong enough and was just being general in recall. So maybe compare pre-1993 smooth to post-1993 smooth to find out.
Right, that's what's got me thinking. For Casablanca to foresee a correction like that makes me a little skeptical; for that canopy to be in production pre-1993 they'd have to be talking about that design change at least a year or two in advance. That's quite a long time before the official recall. Perhaps they were getting reports of falling fans and at that point decided to start looking into it, in which case they would've corrected it. It's certainly something interesting to look into, I'll have to take a closer look at some of my fans when I get a chance.
Coiled some rope lights up in the housing and wired them in where the light wires come off of the IT board. Keeping in mind I replaced the board in this fan, normally the Venus fans without lights have a board that won't operate lights.

OMG That Intellitouch noise is irrtitating! It's a good system, but couldn't they put another noise?
A lot of people share that opinion. I don't see how it makes much difference, any sound is going to be 'annoying' to one person or another.
