The reason why the switch housing was a little harder to remove is because Casablanca fans from 1995-96 are a little harder to remove the switch housing and it takes lots of hammering. 1989 and 90 Casablanca fans are a little bit easier to remove the switch housing but for whatever reason, they made the shaft a little bit harder which is why I believe they designed an XLP motor back in 97 so it can have protected windings so when you do take the housing off of an XLP, then the windings won’t get damaged. Have you tried varnishing the windings on this fan?
