  • This video describes a variety of ways of getting to know parts in everyday life (i.e. not necessarily during a therapy session) to facilitate more Self-leadership. Methods described include sandtray, art, checking-in, offering appreciations, different styles of journalling and more. I recommend sharing this with clients interested in working with their own parts.

This is wonderful, thank you! I also love what clinical psychologist Janina Fisher tells all of her clients: "If you're willing to assume that all uncomfortable thoughts, feelings, and sensations are a part in you, trying to get your attention, you can get curious whenever they arise." I find that helpful for my system and I offer that to clients, as well. Bryony Smith, Amherst, MA.

I love inviting parts to be with me and 'see' my world.

I’m getting so much from watching these interviews! Thank you both (and your parts) so much.
I realised when you were sharing at the end that offering Metta to myself has the effect of connecting me to Self.
    May I be happy
    May I be healthy
    May I be loved
May I be free from suffering.
    🙏🏼

I LOVE this whole series of interviews, I watch them again and again. I love the idea of journaling Self to Part. Joanna suggests using different colours to differentiate each speaker I use different types of writing, slanted for Part, upright for Self. Sounds complicated but it seems to come easily and naturally to me.

This series of interviews is so helpful! Child’s play really is working with parts, isn’t it? The whole process feels intrinsic to me.

I like to make SoulCollage cards for Parts. Collaging magazine pictures on 5x8 inch cards to represent each feeling, memory or Part.

9:07 You have a 15 year old part of yourself that doesn't know you have dogs even though he is you? He is completely independent of you even though he is you and lives inside you? How?

He said that part was trapped in the past.
