Wow this plane can barely broke the sound barrier!😮
I loved the 880 and flew on many in the 60's into early 70's. I rode the Elvis 880 twice when it was with Delta N8809E.
One of my favorite jets! The Boeings and DC-jets are airliners but the Convairs are closer to rocket ships. They were faster, but smaller. That's what killed them. I got to see (and sneak into) the 880s (plus one 990) at MHV many years ago before they were all destroyed and made into beer cans. Remember this; if you want to get aboard a Convair jet, go to the nose wheel and look for the hatch. Open it, climb up, and you're inside right around the galley. The Convair jets were the closest thing you could get to an SST... but... that took a lot of fuel and made quite the racket.
I had a Blaine Electronics, Convair F-102A (minus its original stand) that I've since sold. Nice Convair 880 model and handle it with care as it's a somewhat delicate model. Thanks for sharing!
