Tua is paying his dues like most Qbs should imo. It builds character and establishes motivation to get even better as a pro. In 22' he silenced the "can he produce at a high level"narrative. 23' he silenced the "cant stay helathy". Now he needs to silence the "win a big playoff game". I think the organization believes he's capable and will pay him accordingly.

@@vivM.5497 Heres some football 101. When your QB constantly craps the bed against good teams, it puts more pressure on your defense and wears your defense down quicker being on the field too much. I saw that more times than not last year when the defense was doing their job, yet Tua couldn't get anything going. Teams learned you take his first read away and he struggles mightily. I see Mahomes, Hurts, Allen, Jackson and so many others make plays when the line doesn't hold or whatever happens and they find ways to make plays. Tua either fumbles the ball, takes a big sack, throws a pick or comes close. I hold my breath when Tua has to scramble. Not only for that but he could be one bad hit from retirement. You don't pay that guy 50+ million. You let him play out his 5th year option, and if he doesnt improve in beating the better teams you need to not only to get into the playoffs, but in the playoffs, then you move on and find a QB that can.

Quarterbacks are held to different standards. Cousins has 400 million for one playoff win. Hurts, Purdy, Goff, and Burrow lost a superbowl. They got there. I mean to be fair, if Tua has a contract similar to Daniel Jones or Baker Mayfield (which he probably won’t) the dolphins could absolutely go on a run. The Patriots are long gone, the bills had to let go of most of their stars and now have to solely rely on Allen, and the Jets will lose most of their senior citizen stars to injuries by week 10 of the NFL season. I don’t get why Tua gets hate for doing his job, which he’s been doing with a mid OL

I used to think that Tua was a qb that could make any player around him better. So far in his NFL career, it has been the total opposite sadly. The dolphins have added so much talent around him and even if he does succeed, it would’ve been nice to have seen it happen without the amount of stars they it took to get there. His success will forever be shadowed by the talent around him and so it should be.

My sentiments exactly. If Tua was the guy, he would already have his contract. The fact he doesn't tells me either he has been given a low ball offer with an easy out for Miami in a year or two, or they are gonna let him play out the 5th year option and hope he improves in late season games in inclement weather and in the playoffs. I would let him play it out and see. If not, move on.

A predictable qb feet like cement average still throwing outside the numbers, struggle back to back seasons down the stretch. Front runners play good in September and October elite qbs play good December and January. 3,100 of his 4,000 yards went to Tyreek in waddle. Passing leader when he clearly didn't finish a top 5 qb eye test. Pretty stats for average qbs. Tua numbers was better than mahomes who was the better qb same goes for josh Allen, cj stroud , Lamar Jackson in others all better than tua eye test.
Tua can be good, but he could also be so predictable.
When everything around him is perfect and his WRs are open he can look good. Unfortunately, this is football, it's not perfect and it's dirty. When things break down and his first and second read are taken away, he wilts and can't make off script plays. Tus cant get dirty in fear of getting hurt.
It's true that they do not have a better option and that is why he is still the dolphins starting qb. He has superbowl talent around him and he still cannot beat playoff teams and cannot win in the cold weather. Extending him will end up costing McDaniels his job because Tua will just lose the big games and McDaniels can only create so many trick offenses to mask Tua's deficiencies and now, defenses know how to defend against Miami. They play a tough schedule next season and Tua already gave a concussion to Waddle and just wait if and see if one of his underthrows does the same to Tyreek Hill. Also, he is one concussion away from retirement. Plus, if he were a free agent, I cannot think of one team that would be interested. Tua cannot play in cold weather and he needs to play in a dome. Atlanta, Dallas, Seattle, Detroit, and Minnesota are set at qb or will be drafting one. The giants and Denver play in cold weather. Possible Tennessee but I cannot see them giving up on Levis just yet. There is no market for a noodle armed qb that cannot play in the cold weather. Remember that the AFC runs through Cincinnati, KC, Buffalo, and Baltimore which are all cold weather places. Plus, Harbaugh will have the chargers rocking in 2 seasons and that will make Grier and Tua look even worse. The dolphins should trade back as low as they can in the first round and draft bpa and then take a qb in the second round.
I guarantee you, if McDaniels was here when we drafted Tua, Herbert would have been his pick. McDaniels got saddled with Tua and tried to make the best of it. I think that is why there is no contract as of yet. McDaniels, regardless of what he says in the press, doesnt want to tie his star to Tua. He saw how Tua choked late in the season when games count the most. He knows what he is and what he isn't, and he isn't a top 5 QB nor should he be paid so.
