    I always feel like theres so much nuisance missing from every Tua convo. By the end of the year, the oline was trash cause of the injuries and Tyreek and waddle were also injured and not getting open as fast (leg injuries). Mike Mcdaniel is a terrible situational play caller too (even if he is a good play caller in general). The problem with Tua was that he isn't able to play hero ball and overcome all that. And he looked terrible when those things were working against him. He also still makes like 2 to 3 horrible throws a game. Who knows if he'll be worth the money but I'm still willing to see him prove it (extend but leave an out early on)

      The Dolphins let expensive players walk, but it wasn't to clear space to pay Tua. It was to replace a lot of that premium talent with solid starters and depth pieces to make another run. They've got one last year to make it work on his rookie deal, and then a gap franchise tag year. That's the Dolphins' window. After that Hill and Mostert will likely have lost a step, and either retired or moved on. Then they can either pay Tua, or let him walk/trade him and reset the roster.
      Tua is an excellent point guard, but he's just not that top tier premium talent that can carry a mid roster, because if they thought they could pay him and field an average roster and still be contenders, they would. But instead when the offense was hurt and playing with league average speed, Tua couldn't elevate them, because he's not that guy. Which isn't even a shot at Tua, because there's only 1 guy in the league who is "that guy," and it's Mahomes. He's the only one to get paid and still win championships with one aging star, mediocre free agents nobody else wanted, and rookie contract skill guys. Everyone else comes up short because the margin for error once you pay your QB league highest money is razor thin, and nobody else in the league has proven they can do it.

    Top passer in yards, tied for top in completion percentage while dead-last in QBR run rating because he was FORBIDDEN to run due to how polarizing he is.. give him the BAG. No one gave a crap about Pickett having 2 concussions in 2022 - but Tua was forced to sit out the rest of the year. This year, he will be back to the mobile QB he was his second year and at Alabama before the hip injury. If our O-Line has good center-play for the year, I expect him to lead the league in passer rating and QBR.... teams will not be able to ignore him as a scrambler - it will reduce the pass rush and keep the middle of the field more open. If the defense is at least top 15 - we should win the division and hope to see him in a playoff game that isn't in the top 5 coldest NFL games of all time - I would not have much hope for a Marino-led Dolphins team going up against the Chiefs at home in that kind of cold.

  • @Ballaholic17
    @Ballaholic17 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I don't see us trading Tua, he deserves to be the starter this year, but if he's asking for a top 5 qb deal, then the organization should let him play out the 5th year. I get we've made strides and Tua's been good the last 2 years, but the truth is we're still a fringe wild card team that can't beat the Bills, who have dominated the division since Tua arrived in Miami. If the Dolphins are content with squeaking into the playoffs every year, then they should extend Tua now, if they want a higher ceiling, then we should hold off until we see a full 5 years of where Tua gets us. If we can't win our division, and we can't win a playoff game with him on a rookie deal, then what are you realistically expecting after he gets paid? It's tough because there's no clear and obvious replacement, but that brings me into my next point, if you lock up Tua, you're not actively looking to upgrade the position, and if you're not looking to upgrade the position, then you're just spinning the wheels in mud. I think it's fair for the team to want to see if there's a higher ceiling with Tua this year, there's always context into why we didn't win, it's never on 1 player, but when you decide to pay the qb, it changes the way you build the rest of your roster and if Tua can't elevate his play when things aren't ideal around him, then what's gonna happen in 2 years when Tyreek isn't here and we lose some core players that we can't afford? We can always tag him next year too, so it's not like we have to commit long term at this point. The organization has ways they can keep him without giving a top of the market qb deal.

    • @iafigueroa91
      @iafigueroa91 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Elevate everything around him? How can you elevate when all of your weapons at WR and RB were dealing with high ankle sprains and turf toe, and an Oline that was reduced to rubble by the end of the year, with backup OL playing most of the snaps, and play calling late in games and late in the season, that was horrible.

  • @user-cp7fo7im1s
    @user-cp7fo7im1s 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I love Tua, but my main concern is with almost any QB you pay top money for, it limits you. Hopefully Tua is good getting paid, but still leaving the team flexible because he wants to win. I don't think Tyreek gives a shit. He wants the most money. Waddle still needs to get paid too.

    • @jrmiami4035
      @jrmiami4035 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      that's why they didn't overpay Hunt or Wilkins.... now they have money to take care of Waddle, Holland and Phillips

  • @OldManInternet
    @OldManInternet 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The only QB currently in the league who's proven he can get paid and win it all is Mahomes. When you pay a QB like that, the quality of the talent around them gets worse. Which means that QB needs to be a guy who can elevate low-to-mid level talent to a championship level.
    Paying Hurts and Herbert like they're Mahomes was a mistake, which will be evident when their rosters disintegrate over the next few years to pay their bloated contracts. Allen and Lamar are perfect examples of a guys who are trying to drag a mid tier offensive roster to the Super Bowl by playing hero ball, and they can't quite do it. And the jury is out on Burrow because of injuries.
    Aside from Mahomes, we'll likely see teams with strong rosters and QBs on rookie contracts to be contending for the next few Super Bowls, because that's the most viable path if you don't have "the guy." Guys like Purdy, Stroud, Richardson, and maybe Love (he's a weird case because of his age and contract) and maybe an unexpected star rookie from an upcoming draft. And then mid tier guys with reasonable contracts and solid rosters like Goff, Baker, Stafford, etc will have a punchers chance. Teams that get desperate and give good QB's record breaking deals aren't going anywhere.

    The Dolphins have a top 1 WR, not a top 10 QB. Without Tyreek Hill, Tua is to 15-20 QB. Stop overpaying QB's and handcuffing the team for years of mediocrity.

      Tua's numbers were ELITE with Tyreek on the bench last year, and beat the #3 defense 30-0 without him.

      @@alf1380You’re neglecting to mention that they were playing the New York Jets who had two QBs with sub-45 passer ratings in that game because the defense forced two turnovers, and that the Dolphins had two rushing TDs. So it wasn’t Tua winning without Hill, it was the team winning without Hill. That speaks to the bigger issue rn, which is that Tua cannot elevate the team. He cannot operate outside of structure at all and has physical limitations that limit the playbook. That’s why they generally can’t beat good defenses or play in the cold. If the offense is off its rhythm, he can’t bail them out

      @@Rekcha Thanks for getting those facts straight. Winners make bold moves...The 49ers, Rams, Texans...Everyone else handcuffs themselves to mediocre QBs for the sake of development and let the talent that made them play well leave to keep the QB that could play decent without them...i.e. Its a terrible cycle.
