    I just inherited a 1934 mido today and am excited to do a restoration on it soon. Thanks for all your info.

    Hi, Felix. I have a small collection of Mido watches. In Mexico they are highly appreciated and traditional; they are the clocks used by the grandfather or the parents.

    Thanks for this. I came across a Mido Multifort field watch on an online marketplace and was interested in buying it. It was an old model and the guy wanted too much and it wasn't in good running order. It really ticked the boxes for me and got me interested in this brand. Thanks again.

      You’re welcome! Mido is truly an underrated Swiss watch manufacturer that should definitely be on your radar. Stay tuned, the right watch at the right price will come!

    Great, informative video, thank you! I inherited a Mido Ocean Star, gold plated, very similar to the one shown in the video. It doesn’t appear to have a quick set for the date and not sure if it winds by spinning the crown downwards, as upwards feels rough like the wrong way.

    Only issue I see with the Mido watch you show, is that it has a date window. Just a personal preference.

      I have to agree with you. We also prefer clean dials without date windows

    I own a Mido and I think it quite a nice piece, especially for the price. I think Marvin and Revue Thommen deserve some love too. All great watches that you can actually afford.

    Another great video! TBH, I know very little about Mido. Your video (and that stunning dial and case) inspire further research. The car and architectural influences on the vintage watches are just amazing. One note: a name I seem to always hear associated with great vintage watches is “Singer”. We emphasize in-house everything these days, but perhaps that’s not a great thing.

    • @GoldammerVintageWatches
      @GoldammerVintageWatches  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks a bunch Mitch! To improve my english skills- what means „TBH“? 😅 Mido is definitively a brand to watch out for! This unusual dial decoration is insane…
      Indeed, Singer is a famous Swiss dial manufacturer of the 20th century. Singer’s client list consisted of brands like Rolex, UG, Heuer, Omega, Tudor etc. Interesting to know - it’s the company behind the Rolex Daytona “Paul Newman” dial design. In the 20th century it was completely normal to outsource components. The Swiss watch industry was covered with specialized movement makers, bracelet manufacturers, case makers, dial producers, engravers, enamellers, and other specialties for centuries.

      Now I am teaching you very horrible and inappropriate English! TBH is “to be honest”. Its acceptable in casual written conversation. Of course, the problem is “to be honest” suggests the speaker may NOT be honest in other instances. Yikes!
      I like the idea of specialists for dials, movements and other parts. I understand and respect in-house capabilities (Seiko for example) but perhaps it is a bit over-emphasized. Singer was just amazing, as you explained! Cheers my friend!

    Very interesting! I happen to have a Mido Multifort with a very simimilar no date dial. The watch itself is gold plated though, and has rather round shirt lugs. I really like this type of detailed dial!

    Mido never made large wristwatches. Why?
    Always in woman size.
