You deserve to have so many more views to your channel than you have. I've been collecting vintage watches in over 30 years, and you have addressed many of the pitfalls that many novice watch collectors should watch out for. This video was really well constructed and your example watches would be the envy of most collectors. Keep up the good work. :-)
Hi man 🙋♂️ thanks for your kind words, it’s much appreciated! We are still making mistakes and will continue to make some in the future. Collecting watches is a shark tank that becomes flatter from year to year. We are happy if this video prevents one or the other wrong purchase :)
Really useful video. I wish you had posted it many years ago when I started buying on the web. I stumbled into some fakes (but also some good watches) as I didn't have any guidance like this.
I'm sorry to hear that. but you are definitely not the only one who has so happened. Even we are not protected from bad purchases. you went the harder way, but that's how you learn too!
Great advice and intelligently and clearly presented. And big points for no self promotion hidden in the mix-think this says alot about you as sellers.
I just want one vintage watch. A 1960s Tissot Seamaster or (if I can stretch to one financially) an Omega Seamaster. I'm going to have to buy from a reputable dealer because there are so many Frankenstein watches out there and an untrained eye like mine will be easily duped.
Ok. when you mean Specific content. There’s nothing else better than finding this video. Oh Jesus. But here’s a question, why do I get this sudden urge to wear a watch? and why do I want to look at people I admire? It just came to me
Thanks a lot for your kind feedback! We hope you could learn something. I don’t know but maybe you just need to get your first watch when your gut is telling you to do :)
All very well, in my case, would be buying online from a very good seller from their store, after buying from them on eBay, can trust their description on their store without actually handling their watches, if I were buying from a second hand market, would only buy from a well established dealer that specialises in those watches.
One thing I've notice is that a lot of sellers got like 10 pictures of the dial, even outside of the case, the picture of serial number and everything but NO picture of the movement, I find that shady
In most cases, caution is advised when movement shots are not offered. Either the dealer wants to deceive about something, the watch is pressure tested and therefore should not be opened and there are especially with vintage watches cases that are very very difficult to open (eg monocoque cases). But yes, that is rather the rarity....
I bought from Vintage watch place from spain and as a dumb I went down from chrono24 and bought it from seller directly. Watch nonfunctional and no refund because the scumbag said that the watch cannot be opened only by their watchmaster. Total failure-vintage watch place spain my friends
No , the value of vintage watches has -in most of the cases- nothing to do with the typend movement. It’s more about the condition & rarity of the watch 🙌
Is it safe to buy a vintage watch with Patina in the dial and on the case together with my other watches inside my watch box? Does the Patina not spread with them?
Hey, thanks for your kind feedback! The Oysterquartz: 1991 Ref. 17000 / the bicolor Datejust: 1971 Ref. 1601 / the silver Datejust: 1966 Ref. 1603 :-) Have a great weekend
I’d disagree. I presently own more watches than days in the month. Only two have been bought brand new. The rest vary in age from the 1930’s to the 1990’s. I haven’t had my fingers burnt yet.
This statement is a.... Disgrace 😂 Honestly why not I don't understand lol Even if you don't want to build a collection.. Just one lovely vintage watch well looked after is basically brand new anyway 😎

Do you, Gold Hammer, or any collectors in the comments thread have any input/reviews on Craft + Tailored as a dealer?
We have no personal relationship to them but it’s definitely a trusted and legit dealer!
Godtier. I just discovered your channel. Excellent God bless you. I will be fanatik follower
Hehe thanks mate!!

Sorry to hear man :(
Hiii what does a wind manual watch means in vintage watches are they less worthy ?

Don’t worry, patina can’t jump from one dial to the other
@@GoldammerVintageWatches Appreciate it! I am now gonna buy the 1964 Omega Seamaster 135.005. Love your contents btw.

@@GoldammerVintageWatches Thank you so much! Absolutely beautiful timepieces! Congrats!
No prob, you’re welcome!
Very logical, honest and thorough thank you :-)
Thanks a million donkey :D
A watch can have been owned by a celebrity or come from a historic event, without intrinsic value I would add.
Correct!
Me watching this after 3 purchases
😁😅
well said !
Thanks kindly!
Great video. Love vintage.
Thanks so much Thomas 🙏
Re-dialled Omega at 8:03 ?
No, it’s an unrestored chronostop dial.
Og crown is big, very common for people to replace their crowns with the wrong one to save money

Good stuff
Thank you!!
Do you have a trustworthy seller in central London? I’m vesting there and having trouble finding one
Unfortunately not :( buying online in the UK is not that easy since Brexit….
You have a ROYAL collection
Thank so much !!
After watching this, I conclude that vintage watches are too much hassle to get into.
Haha but it’s worth the time :D
I only buy vintage if I know that the seller is legit.
Absolutely correct!

The best rule of vintage watch buying is: Don’t buy vintage watches.
I don’t like that rule :D
Why? 🤡
@@Mrvicious999It’s a ton of work to make sure you get the right watch. It’s like a full time job.
I’d disagree.
