    Do you have the Yardistry 12X14 Gazebo from Costco? I built a privacy wall for it and I show you all the steps involved and share all my tips including the stain that I used to get it to patch the gazebo. Check out our Yardistry Gazebo Privacy Wall video and let us know what you think about it in the comments below.

      First - Awesome Video! I have a question - in the video you cut off the bottom of the center vertical post, but at the end of the video there is a brace going down to the concrete. Did you retrofit something or did you recut 2x4 to go all the way to the concrete? I am assuming you determined after the fact that it needed added support?

    • @DIYProjectGuys
      @DIYProjectGuys  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello. That was a total mistake. I cut all three rear 2x4s at the same time and I was not supposed to go the one going in the center. The center absolutely needs the 2x4 vertical support. I just put the cut piece back in with clue and some nails and some metal braces. I also have it off the concrete with some steel brackets between it and the concrete. I had already stained the 2X4 that I accidentally cut so I couldn't just use a new one. Thanks so much for watching .

    Great step by step guide, and it's great that you included a materials list. I just bought one of these gazebos and I am going to build a wall just as you have shown with the minor exception that I am setting it back slightly to show the roof support arches and maintain that look of continuity to the other sides. I showed this video to my wife and she preferred the solid wall to the optional wall Yardistry sells. (I'm doing the short wall. They make an optional wall that you can order online for the short side but it is louvered)

    • @DIYProjectGuys
      @DIYProjectGuys  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Oh man. I just subscribed to your channel! You guys did a really good job. I have a very small backyard with the same width as your backyard but it's a little wider. I'm about to put up a 12x16 gazebo. One thing I'm a little concern is how I am going going to put on the ridge cap since the gazebo is so closed to the house and the the ridge cap is really long. How did you guys put it on? Was it hard to do?

      Hi Alex. I wish we had showed how to put those ridge cap on during the video where we build the gazebo. We had to look at the Yardistry Helpful Hints video. They explain in that video that you have to bend the ridge caps open to get them on one side and then to bend them back into place again over the roof pieces. So that is what we did and that worked.

    Were looking at adding one at my MIL house. Can you tell me how much clearance there is from the ground to the truss under the roof? Im trying to figure out if a storm door will open up and clear that beam. Thanks.

    Thanks so much for these videos. Your gazebo looks amazing. Do you think the wall is strong enough to hold a TV? Also, where is the video on how to install the fan?

    • @DIYProjectGuys

      Hi Tamara. The video on how to install the ceiling fan is on Plant Based Dads. We also have a video there on how to wire an outlet for the string lights that go around the inside top of this thing and we have a video there that shows the time lapse of us building this thing. Check those videos out. Yes, the wall is definitely strong enough to hold a tv. Those shiplap boards are solid wood. Thanks so much for watching.

      did you end up installing the tv on the wall? i built the same wall but not sure if i should reinforce the back of it with some 2x4 before mounting tv to it.

    I’m also in AZ and I just installed a 12x16 gazebo. I was searching for a way to add the wall and found your channel. Are those slats come in 16 feet long or 12 is max? If only 12 then I guess I would have to make two 8 feet sections to cover the 16 feet side? Great video. Thanks!

    • @DIYProjectGuys
      @DIYProjectGuys  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We got them at Home Depot and I don't remember if they came in 16 feet lengths but I am sure they do. Most lumber does come in 16feet lengths. But you could totally do 8foots and just do a seem in the middle with a trim board. I really like the seamless look though. Good luck!

      Those are the blinds from costco. They go up and down with a rod that you turn by hand. They are the sun shades from Costco

    Great video, due to winds in are area plus ours being on a deck. I’m thinking of taking all the way down to the floor. If I took it down to the floor wouldn’t that distribute the weight of the wall better plus take it off the pergola?

    • @DIYProjectGuys

      The center support does go all the way down to the floor. I accidentally cut it and had to put it back together.

      Hi Andrew. Its the one they sell at Costco. They are about 59.00 I think. I got one for each side just to stop the sun from coming in and fading the furniture. I put them up and down every day. Thanks so much for watching.

    Great video. I'm not too experienced with lumber projects but want to build this on my new Yardistry Gazebo. Question for you. Is your tongue and groove board pressure treated or would unfinished tongue and groove board be acceptable in an often rainy environment so long as you stain and seal it? Thanks

    • @DIYProjectGuys
      @DIYProjectGuys  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Pat. I DID use pressure treated tongue and groove because it was going to be outside. We are a dry climate so I could probably have gotten away with just using no pressure treated but for your climate, I would say use pressure treated.

  • @patty8193
    @patty8193 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This is exactly what we want to do, so thank you for the detailed supply list and instructions. Question - maybe it’s the lighting but your gazebo seems darker than ours. Did the tugboat stain lighten up to match the natural color of the cedar? 👍

    • @DIYProjectGuys
      @DIYProjectGuys  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The tugboat stain is lighter than the gazebo but its a very very close match. When you look at it all together, it's very hard to tell that the wall wasn't part of the original gazebo. We took a piece of the gazebo wood with us (the trim around the bottom of the posts) and chose color of stain that was close to it. If yours is lighter, you may need to go with a different color. But I think Tugboat will be your best bet still. It was the closest match to the cedar. Thanks so much for watching.

    That looks really great. One question: Why did you put a layer of plywood under each post? Is it pressure treated? How did you attach it to the post, and did you attach it to the concrete? Thank you!

    • @DIYProjectGuys
      @DIYProjectGuys  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had to raise 3 of the posts to level it out because its on a slab that is pitched for drainage. Yes, I used a think layer of stainless steal and then some cedar.

  • @kevinobrien4559
    @kevinobrien4559 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The yardistry will weather gray. So in a year or two you won't have a match. If you put a sealer on the yardistry you might keep the cedar from weathering.

  • @mcummings7

    Great Video! I'm looking at putting in a 12 x 20 and want to do this on the 12' side and then half of the 20' side to create like an enclosed corner and put up a TV etc. How is the seal? I'm down in FL and we get some nasty sideways rain storms so I was curious does it need to be sealed somehow to prevent water from getting through?

    • @DIYProjectGuys
      @DIYProjectGuys  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Matt. We did seal it when we stained it. And its all tongue and groove so water should not get through the boards. Of course, rain water can spray in from the open sides so I would put the tv high enough to protect it as best you can and put a cover over it when not in use. Here in the desert, its not really a concern. I moved here from Tampa, FL so I understand the what you are saying. Good luck with the project. I cant tell you how much I love my patio with this wall blocking my neighbors.

      Yea I will put a cover on the TV. in your opinion should I run additional boards on the back side to mount the TV to? I don't think the Toungue and Grove would be sturdy enough to hold up a 55"+ TV, do you?
