So honored to make an appearance on the VidIQ channel! It was a pleasure talking with you Dan, to everyone watching: keep at it, follow your instincts and enjoy the process!
I am glad I watched this video. Except for your viral videos, our views are about the same, so thanks for the positive reinforcement. I have been a little frustrated with my views but maybe I have unrealistic expectations. My channel is old but I have only been serious for the last two years.
Your viewers are the algorithm. What i try to do and improve is: 1) Make content I like 2) Create something that is presentable (improve everytime) 3) Interact with your viewers, see what they like already about you and what they like to see in the future.
Reminds me of my many years trying to pursue a career in music. Early on so much focus was put on promotion, image, marketing, etc. but ultimately it’s about the music, being true to your passion. The only thing you can control throughout the entire process is what you create. Beyond that nothing is in your control.
Kinda but no, because people making trash music dominate all popular music spaces be that TH-cam or TV, because irs not what you know its who you know. This is what this creator is telling you, and why He deliberately targeted to get in association with million subscriber channels aand gain there respect. He became someone they know and raised him up, same thing happens in music.
Thank you Dan and Mike! I'm a small channel going through the growing pains, BUT hard work is starting to pay off! I can't wait to show my Son your channel Mike!
So important to watch! So often we get lost in what supposedly works on TH-cam and what supposedly doesn’t, but if you have a passion for what you do, it’s unique to your own personality, and you actually enjoy the editing process to make the finished product, it simply comes down to consistency and being discovered.
That is encouraging information to know. My channel is still quite small, so I don't get a lot of views yet, but I do get comments from the people who watch. So if advertisers are interested in that, then this is encouragement to keep going.

I guess instead of focusing on the algorithm, we should focus more on assessing how we can improve our content to maintain the interest of viewers. Interesting topic!
Ive learned that youtube is a crazy up and down roller coaster one day you get 5 subs and the next you lose 2. Just post what you enjoy and put your love into it the subscribers will come.
The benefit on TH-cam over things like Netflix is that it's free and you can watch videos of any length without being stuck with it. When I start a TV show, I watch the whole thing. It's either that or a movie that's easily 1.5 hours long. A TH-cam video can be a 5 minute one time thing. Shorter than any TV show episode.
i make videos thinking about the audience. But when i upload it, and it gets little to no views, then i start thinking about the algorithm and badmouth it.
I just started uploading in October, sitting at 116 subscribers. I hadn't ever edited anything in my life, so it's been a blast learning how to make videos and figuring stuff out. Thanks for the help! Also hi everyone will support those who support we gotta stick together!
I’ve been on TH-cam for 4 months, and I feel like I’m making progress. With time, my content will improve. Whenever I have doubts, I watch this kind of video and remind myself that, just like in any discipline, it takes time and experience. ❤
Being able to hear from someone who loves making videos but doesn’t already have hundreds of thousands of subscribers is really inspiring. Also I love hearing from others about their creative process. I look forward to watching more videos like this 😊
Is it because you need to have fun? Because I'm having the time of my life making videos, but yeah... I wish I was in a little bit better position than what I'm now
I mean if you’re having fun and not worrying about the views, you’re doing just fine. Now the problem is, if you want views, you gotta work harder, if that makes sense!
I just recently started my channel, and it hasn't been going well. My dirt bike broke just about right away and neither I nor a dealership have found the problems yet. It has been one heck of a time. Can't wait to improve my videos when the bike is finally running. For now I've just been trying to stay active on the channel. Great content, I subscribed and your tips have helped a lot!
I’d like to add that dislikes don’t matter.. I have a main channel with 21,800 subscribers that I’ve had since 2015 - and I’ve learned loads from that channel and I’ve now started this channel to now implement everything I’ve learned and to start fresh. But one thing that I want every small channel to know is that dislikes don’t matter. No one can see them except you. 90% of the time it’s just trollers and people who dislike video’s all the time - but you shouldn’t think into it, like at all. EVERY TH-camR GETS DISLIKES. Trust me, after 10 years of being a TH-camr - I know for a fact that there is no possible reason someone would dislike a video other than being a pure hater. Because if someone REALLY had a problem with you or the video, they would leave a comment. One thing to always remember is this: “You could be the JUICIEST peach that has ever existed, but there will always be someone out there who doesn’t like peaches”.
Kudos to this guy to keep at it. That's where I'm at too. So close to Monetization just need to keep on schedule. 5 years and counting and probably 3-6 months away. Lets go!!!!

This is the video needed. Really, this is the video we really did need to see. It's about what you enjoy, what you have a passion for it, and just go for it
