I know there are countless posts saying great things, but this man has changed my view of the world and improved my life more than anyone on YT by far. He doesn't just go to the most famous tourists sites (he does some of that and I am glad for it too). But this video perfectly shows how he often ends up in the most random, generic towns meeting the most ordinary people. This is real travel. Going to the Kremlin honestly tells me little about life in russia. Going to a small town and staying in an average hotel and hanging out with local people and showing food available- those things honestly DO help me understand what life is like there. Thank you.
It keeps getting better and better. And that moment with the kids is so refreshing. If there is someone restoring our faith in humanity, it's you Benjamin.

Russians commonly say this, such and such was built by the Germans but a lot of Russian architecture does look somewhat teutonic. Bit of a myth. Also, I think when people saw prisoners building things they may have assumed they were German POWs, but in reality the vast majority were GULAG prisoners.

Russians commonly say this, such and such was built by the Germans but a lot of Russian architecture does look somewhat teutonic. Bit of a myth. I'm sure German POWs built some things in Russia but not to the extent people often say. Also, I think when people saw prisoners building things they may have assumed they were German POWs, but in reality the vast majority were GULAG prisoners.

3. 1955-1964 - "primitivism" of Khruschev era
4. 1964-1990 - "brutalism"
All these typical and looking absolutely the same 5 stories flat roof white bricks either reinforced concrete modules ugly "khrooschovkas" were built in 1957-1968.
