My previous sunscreen from pond's was extremely greasy and caused new pimples the following day. So, my friend recommended littllextra riceberry sunscreen. It's the best sunscreen I’ve ever used, and I highly recommend it for anyone who doesn’t like wearing makeup. No breakouts, no sweating, no white cast, no irritation under the eyes, and it provides excellent protection with spf 50. What more could you ask? I plan to repurchase this sunscreen endlessly.

The Verdio sunscreen hasn’t been discontinued it’s been reformulated and given new packaging! I think the new one has Cica in it and is still fragrance and alcohol free! I live in Japan so I’ve seen it in drugstores, but I guess it maybe it’s not so easy to buy outside of Japan yet. But definitely not discontinued!
This specific one is discontinued though since the new essence version is now tone up 🥲 although they did reformulate and re-release the gel and also have a physical 'mild' gel version according to their site!
@@TinaTanakaHarris oh, I didn’t quite realise that the new essence was a tone up! But that’s a shame. At least the gel is still available as a reformulated product!

You’re skin has been looking better and better. I watched your last routine video and they really do seem to be working for you! Love your content and wish you well! ♥️
I've tried most of these because of you and yes, the hype is real 💛💛💛💛💛My favorite has to be the classic Biore UV aqua rich watery essence. The way it immediately sinks into my skin and for a combination/more on the oilyer side girl, it sits beautifully.

hada labo white gel is my current sunscreen, and i love it a lot, so i was a little surprised to not see it here! i've also been thinking about trying out the skin aqua moisture gel though... how do the two compare?
Great video!! LOVE how you put up the info on the screen, especially the mention of alcohol and fragrance! I was going to ask why you didn’t include the verdio and then you mentioned it’s being discontinued 😭😭😭
Wow a massive review for sunscreens! Thank you so much!! I'm super sad that Suncut discontinued the blue range because both gel and essence were two of my holy grail sunscreens. I also saw from ratzilla that they reformulated Verdio essence to be a tone-up sunscreen now. I only tried the old gel and milk version so far.
I purchased the Verdio on your recommendation and liked it. Too bad that it's discontinued, but I wanted to try another brand. Will check out Skin Aqua brand for my sensitive skin. Thank you for being so detailed.
Great video as always Tina! I have been wanting to try japanese sunscreen for so long!! Although im a little bit concern about whether or not they are strong enough to protect the skin if you use actives the night before. Thank you so much for the recommendations. I’ll be sure to get my hand on the blue Biore soon!!
I just discovered an amazing k-beauty store relatively close to my house and was able to purchase a few of the sunscreens you mentioned as well as some others and I am so excited to try them! Thanks for the guidance 🤩🥰
I was confused for a very longggg time as to which japanese sunscreen should I buy because I live in an extremely humid place and I sweat alot...your review is soooo helpful Thankyou sooo much and I finally got my answer 😁👍
I had yearsssss ago but not recently 🥲 although I JUST got my hands on a couple of them so I will be trying them soon! I’m waiting to see j-beauty on soo’s channel 😏💕
I like the Aneesa Milk version that is for sensitive skin and does not contain drying alcohols. The SPF 30 version has zero cast, whereas the SPF 50 does show cast on one Fitzpatrick 4 or higher.
The way you described the Nivea and the way it looks made me think of the Skin Aqua super moisture gel, it also comes in a pump and has a fantastic consistency. I have the Nivea one but I haven't opened it yet, but I expect it to be very very similar to my beloved Skin Aqua ❤ The Verdio one in the green pump bottle is also very similar but it did pill on me in the hottest days of summer. It applies like a dream the rest of the year ❤ Edit: I just realized you mentioned the Skin Aqua here!
I've repurchased the Nivea UV Gel so many times even my partner's realised! We came by it in a J-store and he even picked it up knowing that it's my thing at this point, haha. I love your hair in this video! Soft waves make you look so lovely. A tutorial sometime, perhaps?
Thanks for doing this Tina!!! Hope you also do the Biore UV Milk and spray types. For spray type I find Suncut is sticky at first. Samourai spray type has powdery finish like Biore UV milk. Looking forward to your next vids ❤❤❤
Damn, eye stinging is one of my biggest issues with chemical sunscreens 🥲 I’ve literally experienced tears rolling down my face as I was hanging out with my friend because of it lol but if anyone else struggles with this, I’d recommend using a setting powder around the eye area. That has helped immensely
@@dewdrops3286 nope, Korean and Japanese ones both have stung my eyes, though American chemical sunscreens have definitely been the worst. I probably just have especially sensitive eyes since I have not found a single one that didn’t sting for me /:
Thru wathching your video, I found my favorite sunscreen which is the biore watery essence. Also some other good japanese brands like naturie and hada labo which I would not have tried if not for watching your videos. Keep it up. Your videos are very engaging and fun to watch.
Although I don't know why they label it as grams in Japan, I'd like to note that grams and milliliters have a 1:1 conversion ratio. So 100 g = 100 mL. I know this doesn't answer your question 😅
@@keziah.johnson the 1:1 conversion ratio only works exactly for water. For other liquids it kinda varies a little bit depending on the density. For example this time sunscreen is thicker than water, so you could expect a little less than 60ml in 60 grams of it
I think Nivea UV super water gel is only 3 plusses, not 4 so the PA rating is not that high so those who are planning on using it during the summer, because it's so light, the UVA protection wouldn't be enough. (even with 4 plusses, the PA rating on most is only 16. I wish it was as high as the European sunscreens. i guess they still haven't figured out how to make it with super protective UVA and not be greasy
The chemists behind the Biore Watery Essence have said themselves in interviews that it doesn't spread evenly across the skin and doesn't provide even UV protection. It also continues to slide around the skin after application and doesn't stand up to any amount of perspiration, being moved by swear or even removed entirely. They continue selling it because it's popular and reformulate it often, attempting to fix these issues but have as of yet been unable to.
I've only tried the Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Gel, but I looooove it. In my limited experience, US sunscreens tend to be either fairly-to-very greasy or very expensive. Do Japanese sunscreens have an expiration date? I didn't see anything on the packaging or bottle, even when using a translator app on it. I bought it from Amazon, so I'm feeling a little iffy about that, but it's so amazing, I don't want to give it up.
THIS VIDEO IS GODSEND!! You just saved me massive amounts of money bc I was about to try many of those u listed but thanks to you who listed if they are waterproof or not I could rule out most of the ones on my list (byebye canmake.... 😢😢) bc not waterproof means I'm out even though I rlly wanted to try the mermaid one but it's just not feasible for me if it isn't waterproof... Only one question remaining from my side: as someone with dry skin which of those would you, Tina, wear on their own like without moisturizer or anything else, just tgr sunscreen? I have combo (not super oily but also not normal) but definitely dehydrated skin, but I also sweat a lot during the day so best for when I go for looks for me is just to wear the sunscreen, nothing underneath but I'm scared this might dry out my skin in thr future without me realising it on time. I spent years building my skin barrier back up after acne treatment so I would hate to wreck it again just bc I skip my mousiturizer for the whole summer😢
Great video💗! I bought the Biore UV Athlizm Skin Protect SPF because of you! You mentioned in a previous video that it would be good for oily skin. I’m still waiting for it to arrive and I’m so excited because it’s hard to find sunscreens that actually work for oily skin.
@@nishishabima it was good for my oily skin in the fall/winter time because it’s colder where I live at that time and a little bit less oily. I prefer to use Eucerin Sun Oil Control Gel-Cream Dry Touch SPF50 in the spring/summer because that’s when I get really oily.

[Biore UV] Aqua Rich Light Up Essence SPF50+ PA++++ is definitely catching my eye.... always wondered why Biore isn't more popular here in the states. Seems like the only thing they're really known for are the pore strips.
It is very popular but as you know in US it is only broad spectrum based only. No UVA filters only UVB. Everything is sold on line and at least we can still buy it so that is a plus. ,😘❤️
I got the Biore UV Essence loved it at firts, but it dried and irritated my non sensitive skin for maybe some ingredient made my skin dry and I have not dry skin. Now I love the Rohto Skin Aqua Gel !!!! Will try the Nivea soon!
Please please please, can you do a comparison of all the SKIN AQUA sunscreens?? I feel like they came out with several new ones and some were repackaged so i dont know anymore which is which. Thank you!
Thank you so much for such a wonderful, informative and well-put-together video Tina!! I personally love love love the Athlizm Skin Protect Essence! The only downside is that’s it’s pretty expensive when you order it from and have it delivered to Germany/Europe. I think I ended up paying about 28 euros per tube, so I try and use it sparingly, or when I’m gonna be outside in the sun all day, playing sports or swimming. And you are so right about the fragrance! It’s like being transported back to Japan every time you apply it! :-)
@@NAmetaj hey there! So I have pretty dry, sensitive, and reactive skin (just started using tretinoin)… but I think the Athlizm skin protect essence dries pretty well, and I personally don’t have a sticky feeling (it might just be a bit dewy at first, but I like that actually). I think that out of all my sunscreens, it’s the most hydrating, and it’s supposed to provide really good protection. I just wish that it wasn’t so expensive!! :-( but you should give it a try, if you like.
How do I know the expiry date of these SPF?? I noticed they're not in the bottle/packaging. My Biore Essence got some sandy feeling towards the end of the bottle.......
I love the Canmake Mermaid Skin. I've been using it for 3 years. I would love to try some of the others in this video, but I'm terrified to put anything with alcohol on my super, super dry skin
I also love canmake mermaid skin . There is one more that I love and it’s from the brand isehan kiss me mommy sunscreen and it’s for kids. It does not have alcohol and gives a really nice sheen and glow to your face! Highly recommend. You can watch Dr. Drey on TH-cam giving review that’s how I found out about it! ❤️❤️
I'm pretty sure the Nivea is PA+++ rather than PA++++. At least mine is! And it looks like that's what your bottle says too, on the info slide you put in!

I love your videos. This is so helpful and I will reference this video forever to help me with my future purchases.
Yesssss been waiting for this !
I just discovered an amazing k-beauty store relatively close to my house and was able to purchase a few of the sunscreens you mentioned as well as some others and I am so excited to try them! Thanks for the guidance 🤩🥰
You’ve saved my day. Love you video🥰
I was confused for a very longggg time as to which japanese sunscreen should I buy because I live in an extremely humid place and I sweat alot...your review is soooo helpful Thankyou sooo much and I finally got my answer 😁👍
Thoroughly enjoyed this Tina, thank you. 😊
Have you tried the Allies one?? I recently tried it and I was mind-blown!!!
It applies like a dream the rest of the year ❤
Edit: I just realized you mentioned the Skin Aqua here!
I've repurchased the Nivea UV Gel so many times even my partner's realised! We came by it in a J-store and he even picked it up knowing that it's my thing at this point, haha.
I love your hair in this video! Soft waves make you look so lovely. A tutorial sometime, perhaps?
Finally a video that includes ALL waterproof sunscreen 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Thanks for doing this Tina!!! Hope you also do the Biore UV Milk and spray types. For spray type I find Suncut is sticky at first. Samourai spray type has powdery finish like Biore UV milk. Looking forward to your next vids ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for the vidéo, this is so complete the tests on the skin and all the other information ... Amazing !
Love from France.
if canmake made a bigger version bottle like the biore uv gel I would never even try to look for another sunscreen but maybe one day...! 😭
exactly what i needed, bought Nivea Super Water Gel and can't wait to try others 💛💛💛💛💛
I kinda wish I could experience a smidge of since it would really help me with my content 😭😅 but thanks for the amazing tip!
I've only experienced eye stinging with American sunscreens. Have you only tried American ones?
@@dewdrops3286 nope, Korean and Japanese ones both have stung my eyes, though American chemical sunscreens have definitely been the worst. I probably just have especially sensitive eyes since I have not found a single one that didn’t sting for me /:
@@Minaaamii even mineral sunscreens ?
@@dewdrops3286 mineral sunscreens don’t sting but I’m not pale enough for the white cast to ever work on my skin
Would love to try new sunscreen especially now its summer here in Canada. Thanks Tina for this suggestion.❤️
Thru wathching your video, I found my favorite sunscreen which is the biore watery essence. Also some other good japanese brands like naturie and hada labo which I would not have tried if not for watching your videos. Keep it up. Your videos are very engaging and fun to watch.
Hey Tina, I always wondered why Japanese sunscreens always comes in "grams" whereas other places have sunscreens in fluid oz or milliliters.
For example this time sunscreen is thicker than water, so you could expect a little less than 60ml in 60 grams of it
@@sherengabriela5589 Oh interesting! I didn't know that, but it makes sense! Thank you for educating me!
thats because only America uses fl oz for liquids.
i'm not sure why it uses grams but maybe there's different laws/requirements for Japanese products.
Asian countries use grams in weight system .....
Mostly all Asian countries from Pakistan to Japan
Could you provide links on where can I see/read these interviews?
I tried googling it but couldn't find anything, can you share the link?

Your videos are really good and fun to watch 💛💛
Mentholatu's Sunplay is my go to - so nice to wear, sweat proof, just perfect.
The skin aqua moisture gel is my holy grail! I prob repurchase it a hundred times
this video is so helpful!! thank you
I've only tried the Skin Aqua UV Super Moisture Gel, but I looooove it.
I don’t know about Japanese sunscreens specifically, but usually sunscreens that you opened already should be only used for one year.
Hi have u tried it? is the Biore UV athlizm good for oily skin?thanks
@@antoniavaughn3106 thankss :) have u used Skin aqua UV gel, Biore UV aqua rich water essence or Anessa sunscreen milk for sensitive skin? Cuz many say these are very good for oily skin and have no white cast
@@nishishabima I have used the biore watery essence. I love it for the winter and it’s a little too moisturizing for the summer. I love it under makeup because sometimes I can look cakey but this is really hydrating. I haven’t used the other one.
Mentholatum is the manufacturer of skin aqua, oxy, hada labo, rohto eyedrops etc.
I've tried a lot of these, but for those that I haven't, I'm taking notes!!! 💛💛💛💛💛
Tina, loved the video. If you happen to see banana boat simply protect aqua daily moisture spf 50, please try and review. I want to know how it compares with biore uv
Love this video! It was very helpful💛💛💛
yessss i love it...the masterlist hehe..i didnt know biore uv aqua rich has a gel sunscreen as well. i am going to try and find it here
As a cyclist my problem with sunscreen stings my eyes when Im sweating. Lol
Im currently using Anessa by Shisheido.
Anessa is the best among them all. Pricey yes but lives up to it!
@@donnam7766 Yes. Proven and tested
So helpful!!! I’ve been waiting all week for you🤣. You’re definitely one of my fav TH-camrs now :). By the way, what eyeshadow palette did you use for this look? So pretty!
💛💛💛, i just saw the story hehehe
@@o.a6466 😍😍😍 you're the best~~~!
Everything is sold on line and at least we can still buy it so that is a plus. ,😘❤️
It has lesssr protection than claimed and labeled. Get the Anessa one instead. Pricey but the best protection.
Thank you!
Hey Tina, thanks for the detailed review. Can you make a video for pregnancy safe AM and PM routine, please?
Subscribed after this wonderful video
💛💛💛💛 love the Suncut one! My go to for outdoor activities
Can I ask what's your skin type and if it dries down fully or is it sticky?:)
I’ve tried the skin aqua UV super moisture gel and it was wonderful. I will definitely repurchase
How do I know the expiry date of these SPF?? I noticed they're not in the bottle/packaging. My Biore Essence got some sandy feeling towards the end of the bottle.......
The skin aqua tone up is my favorite in summer. It dries so nice and matte. I have oily skin.
I love mermaid skin but it’s not water or oil resistant so it’s completely useless IMO
Is there any that doesn’t contain alcohol??
I'm pretty sure the Nivea is PA+++ rather than PA++++. At least mine is! And it looks like that's what your bottle says too, on the info slide you put in!
Oh shoot I didn’t notice that! Thanks for letting me know - I assumed it was ++++ but also my brain was all plussed out from how many times I said it 🤣🤣😅 will fix it at least in the description!
i love biore sunscreens! ive been using them sincee secondary school and i keep returning to them.. especially love the watery essence and light up essence!
It peeved me that all the biore essence sunscreen is a gel texture, and the gel sunscreen is more lotion-y. Completely confused me back then.
I swear by Anessa, Nivea and biore❤️ have you tried the new stick sunscreen? I think it’s called dry touch UV stick from 紫外線予報?
Anessa is the best of them all. Pricey but lives up to it and honest. Biore is cheaper but lesser protection than it claims and label.
Can u please reply me 😢 some of the people saying the skin aqua sunscreen faild the spf test?? And it just have maybe like spf 20😢
haven't enjoyed a video like this some time
well done!
I have tried most of the J SPF u highlighted. biore is king.
btw Nivea one has poor UVA protection in some independent testing
💛💛💛💛
also please review the reformulated anessa sunscreen!!
I watched your earlier video a year ago on affordable japanese sunscreens. Kose suncut( blue bottle) is my absolute fav and i heard it is now discontinued! Please can you recommend one that is similar.
btw because nobody seems to be talking about it but japans sunscreen brands change their formula without an announcement or differentiation in packaging possibly every year but i dont quite remember if it is every year
How about Hada Labo Uv perfect gel?
I followed your video and tried biore UV watery essence.. Its absorbed well, but mild tinge smell of alcohol but its tolerable. Bought 4 tubes in one go😜
Could not find other version of biore UV Gel here.. Would like to try the gel version though
mam which foundation and primer you used in this makeup vedio. you look so beautiful in this makeup 😍❤️
I took your recommendation and got the Nivea water gel and it’s amazziinnggg. I’ve been giving it to all my friends because the price point is 🤌😘.
Do you have a recommendation for a budget friendly reapplication spf? Preferably one that requires the least amount of touching like a spray or a stick?
Very useful and thorough reviews. Thank you so much. I also sometimes have my SkinAqua bottle slipped as I shake it... XD
🤣🤣🤣 glad someone can relate hahaha
I was looking at the ingredients of the Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Gel. I did not see titanium oxide listed. However, the UV Aqua Rich Light Up Essence mentions it. My websites were in English, so maybe the actual label in Japanese mentions titanium oxide? Tina, may you please confirm? I am heading to Japan soon and i can't wait to buy all these!
Flawless skin! Gorgeous!
Please make a review about kumano cosme reihaku hatomugi uv care moisturizing the uv milky gel spf50
The Skin Aqua super moisture milk you mentioned is actually alcohol-free.
Omg I'm so glad you said the bioré uv watery essence is good cuz i bought this to try it out and I don't know much abt skincare yet and I didn't know if it's good and I already bought like 3 or more tubes of it so I was worried lol😭
