Ole buddy, I live in this kind of environment in the hills of West Virginia. Never ware short sleeve shirts and never shorts in the woods. We have a few tricks that keep the chiggers away, tape your sleeves. Y’all make sure you strip naked and have someone check for the red bullseye and outer circle that appears if an infected tick bites you. The red bullseye and circle is lime disease but don’t worry, a course of an antibiotic will protect you. We carry antibiotics in our med kits just for this reason.
