Here in the states, Costco rotisserie chickens are a deal too, at about $5.00 each. I love your grocery hauls. I've been on YT for 13 yrs and subscribe to hundreds of channels of all types, but at the moment your channel is the one I look forward to the most. You're so down to earth and honest, and you kick azzzz on your shopping trips...and in your daily life too. Good grief, I get exhausted just watching you lol. Great job - I really mean that! 😊
Naww, thankyou! :D I hadn't bought them before because of logistics, like I didn't want to just have them open in the car for the next 3 hours etc, but when I had that whole esky empty to be able to use, it seemed like a good way to use it to test out! I'm very happy with them, I def think its a worthwhile buy!
Yes I enjoy grocery hauls especially yours! I’m excited for the videos to come! Thanks for sharing! Those chickens will be a nice easy meal! You definitely deserve a few easy meals with all you do!
I appreciate that you use the word "pedantic"; it's one of my favorite sounding words; I guess that makes me a bit nerdy🙃😜😁. Thank you for sharing, Nyssa.
Thanks for sharing Nyssa your shopping organisation and planning is amazing you do such a great job what a mission and all the recipes you share are amazing and showing us how to make food go far and appreciate all you show us We are a fam in Sydney Australia thanks really enjoy watching ❤
Hi Nyssa. If you have time I’d love to see how y’all use your soda stream. I picked one up at the thrift but haven’t really used it yet. I’m at a loss. Lol. I like watching grocery hauls. Funny thing is I don’t care to grocery shop. So I use azure standard and just do once a month for the most part.
I just found your channel from the recommendation of frugal queen in France, and I am very glad to have found you. I plan to go through your library of videos and get more familiar with your channel. I love you thought of quantities of what you buy, being a bit more at times. I too regularly figure out price per person per meal, and it helps keep my budget in check.
Welcome Elizabeth :D. I like to have a yardstick, I like to compare what I'm buying and how well it lasts for the same dollar per head kinda thing, and if I can get ahead a little bit now, it means I might have a bit more to spend at Christmas too hehe, but seasons change the way we eat too, it has definitely been a learning process along the way :D
I think that's the best part of watching some grocery hauls, seeing how they intend to use what they buy and why they bought something else instead etc! :D
Your shopping hauls are always interesting because you break down prices and usually tell what you had to substitute 👍👍 Your hauls really are how we all have to budget not like some over the top ones !!!! Thank you for sharing Nyssa always a pleasure 🎉🎉 Love from the UK x
I definitely feel like the best ones to watch are the ones that show what they're buying and why and what they had to buy instead, and if something has increased in price they don't buy it etc etc! :D
I do that with the roast chickens also. I buy as many as I can fit and then shred and freeze the meat. I have also found that it works out cheapest for making dog food. The bones then make a fantastic stock. They do prefer if you want more than 10 to ring and order them, but I always see people just loading up their carts from the warmer.
Its super floral and refreshing! D wasn't a fan, but hey, more for me :D They're super moist and I love that the quantity of meat per bird was so good! :D
Great buy with the COSTCO rotisserie chickens! Really looking forward to your Christmas food/gift and shopping hauls (and no - I am so NOT ready for Christmas, but it seems to be approaching at breakneck speed). :)
I think they're well worth their value, I wasn't sure, but Im glad I gave it a go while I had the room! :D I think I focus on it a bit earlier too because I have to work out the shopping patterns beforehand, we don't even do anything huge for it lol.
Always impressed with the fruit & veg you get. I am beginning to think there is a shortage of product nationwide coming thru, but no one is telling us yet. So many items missing from shelves that you would consider stock standard ie. olive oil. I didn't see the organic corn flour at Costco. I'll be looking out for that next time. Doing a hard waste run to tip from all that was sitting around from garage clean up ages ago and the shed sort out. It will be nice to reclaim ground space again. I do, like most, enjoy 'what you bought videos'. I never use to, but now I always grab a costco chook.
Love a "Our Small Footprint" grocery haul. I was thinking as I was watching that your mindset really had to change as far as what you bought because it was only for 4 weeks. I really look forward to what you did with all the chickens and strawberries and everything else. The dogs will eventually get those chicken bones ground up. Sugar cane mulch sounded interesting for your garden.
I like watching grocery hauls. I don't have a Costco but a Sam's club. The whole chickens are a deal there. Especially when making broth after the meat is off. 😊
We have dates too, but one of the kids needs the extra fibre, so I reckon these will work well as an evening after dinner treat and help with that too! :D
I love costco cooked chickens in the states a whole uncooked chicken is $8 or you can get a fully cooked chicken from costco or Sam's club for $4.98. I am just going to be buying a few of the costco chickens and shred them and make the broth too. Great groceryhaul Nyssa take care and stay safe.
I love having raw chicken for certain purposes, but this shredded chicken is perfect for so many things, and definitely a good price. I used to buy a lot of whole raw chooks from woolworths/coles, but they were $3.50 odd a kg back then, and now they're $6.50/kg!
You read my mind....I was watching til the end and then I was going to ask about the monthly hamper that was due today and you answered my question. LOL
I do this with the costco chooks, always buy several and cryovac the meat and there is HEAPS and defrosts so so well for sandwiches or pasta bake or soup etc ❤
I love having cooked chicken in the freezer to pull out on a whim! I like having it on the shelf too mind you, but in the freezer is also super handy :D
Another great haul! It can be tough to scale back to a 4-week amount when you’re so used to the 6-week amount! Gas here (regular unleaded) in Alberta Canada is running around $1.42CAD/L so filling my passenger van is about $100 - trying to keep it at 1/2 tank or better since it hurts less to fill half a tank!
Yes, I do love a grocery haul video, esp from shops that I frequent. We were at the Ipswich Costco today and walked out with a couple of bales of mulch too. Great price. I'm interested to know what you think of Costco's chooks. I'm not a lover of them despite the good price. I didn't see the strawberries tho, bummer.
They’re lovely and moist, If somewhat tasteless, but great for what they are and will make great stock! I was surprised that they didn’t have any flavour to the skin etc, they mustn’t salt them or anything.
I always buy a roasted chicken when I go to Sam's Club which is another version of Costco. They are $5.00 here in the US. It is by far the cheapest way to get chicken! And it tastes delicious too!
Always enjoy your videos and brings back memories when my family were all at home and we could only shop fortnightly because of space so understand. You sound better or is it mumma has to be better. 😃
They,re cooked in a gas rotisserie, so they have a pinkness to them because of that, they're well cooked though, very moist, they are completely unseasoned though, I was surprised, normally I love the skin on a rotisserie chicken because its salty and flavoured, these aren't at all. I like the lack of stuffing too, I prefer just an open cavity if I'm going to be stripping them.
@@OurSmallFootprint have a peak in the open meat fridges on your next trip, they often have cold cooked chooks for $4.98 . Usually just chook which haven't sold in the previous few hours from the ovens. We often buy a few to shred up for lunches etc.
That’s a great haul! Looks like you have saved some money for what you purchased. I have never broke down my grocery but, now I am curious what it cost to feed everyone. For a family the size of yours you did very well! TFS!!!❤
I'm a bit of a numbers geek, it makes me feel more comfortable I think, I spend a lot of money each trip and I had to break it down to let my brain understand that it wasn't as much as it seemed in one hit when its split up over those multiple weeks kinda thing!
Great haul....it's been intresting in aldi this week ...the chook is a great buy cheap and well worth it I pic up 3 shred and freez in potion sizes for soup, sandwiches, salads, curry's wraps ect...and yes bone broth/ sock you will love that it will help you out many times when busy..was the cheese fron Costco a good price...were in the city in a couple of weeks going to Costco so do love seeing what you get ...oh that aldi oil is good, I just use that now
It's definitely cheaper than the supermarket to buy it like this, I want to say $24-26/kg vs $42/kg, but its still a splurge! But I love that its so tasty I don't have to use much.
@OurSmallFootprint good for you , yes enjoy it, the reason I asked was hubby's been looking at it in the box store but price is keeping him from trying it..we get the baby bell and the Swiss jelsburge from Costco much cheaper so will be picking up a box..thankyouforsharing..I know it's difficult putting yourself out, for judgement( people feel like they can, go figure) but never ever feel you have to justify any purchase you make ..it your purse ...we are all friends but our purces aren't!...lol
@@Turtledovegrove heh, I try and be as transparent as possible I do think that helps with the negatives if I’m not hiding anything it’s harder to have a go about it! It’s a really lovely crumbly creamy cheese I find that one set of 3 lasts me the 6 weeks and totally fills the gap for me to just have a crumble of cheese in my wraps etc! Works great in Mac and cheese too :)
Another great video nyssa I always wondered why you didn’t buy the whole cooked chickens cuz they are a great price You guys are heading into summer and we are heading into fall Crazy to think Thanks again for another amazing video Always look forward to them
Do you make jam or sorbet with the strawberries? You got some great bargains! Cabbages are about 5.00 each when they are on special. Is it more economical to use coffee beans than instant coffee?
Yes, well be flash freezing some of the strawberries, some will make sorbets or the ice blocks that I make each summer, and I've made some jam already and I used the tops of them in the steam juicer to make cordial! :D I've done some calculations re the coffee beans and instant because we drink a lot of cold brew over the summer, I worked out that we use about 120g of coffee beans for 3L of cold brew (which we drink over 2-3 days, the cheapest $1.20/100g coffee means thats about $1.44) If we use instant, We use about a dessertspoon per cup of blended iced coffee, because we make it like a frappe, so say 10g per each of us per day, which ends up being approx $2.16 for the 2-3 days, this is when its on special too ($18/500g). But the thing is, we use more coconut cream and more sugar syrup when we use instant coffee because its so harsh, whereas the cold brew we use minimal coconut cream and just a very slight dash of sugar syrup because brewing it that way removes a lot of the bitterness. I don't think I would have gone that route though, except that Mum had an old electric coffee grinder that she didn't need anymore and gifted it to us! I only did the calculations afterwards when I was curious because of the amount of beans we were going through over the summer :D
Bananas should come down in price next haul, just starting to ripen further north now. Cut down the first bunch this morning, before the flying foxes and parrots notice it ripening.. 😂 About 10 hands of 8 plus bananas on each hand, so a good first bunch. cost versus availabilty for the rice milk- does Honest to Goodness carry your preference? Might be worth a bulk order? It's funny how we get a dopamine buzz from other people's shopping hauls... and the bigger relief we experience as we fill up our larders again... i call it siege mentality... i'm good in a siege if my pantry/larder and fridges are stocked 😂 You appear less worn out post haul than previous ones... noticably higher energy. It's good to see, Nyssa. 🌻
Super cheap for really high quality ones, over summer I can get some cheaper, but they're normally ones I have to immediately rinse in vinegar and pick out bad ones, no bad ones in these punnets! :D
They don't seem to hold any excess stock, and when I've done online shopping they have a max of like 12 avail online. I suppose I could try in advance, knowing exactly when I come, but they don't seem very amenable to it lol.
Can I suggest that if you’re already going to have a meltdown over rice milk being in the wrong container, why not put it into a jug of some description, then you can pour any brand into it and it will always look the same
That probably would of been a good idea from the beginning hehe, but now, at the age they are, they self serve brekkie and can go through 1.5L of rice milk in one brekkie heh. Would be a lot of work to keep up! Orpheus hasn’t even mentioned it this month! So maybe he’s come to terms with it, last time I had to do it he really struggled.
The kids will gorge on fresh for a few days, i top them and flash freeze quite a few trays and they’ll use them for smoothies or just eat them like little frozen snacks :). I’ll make some strawberry jam and prob some strawberry cordial as well :)
Wow the price of food an supplys is insane these days u need a job just for that alone .. an I pay month to month an just make it by my self I can't imagine a big family ❤😂. An yes Aldi's has very good deals. I'm waiting for their fur boots for winter coming soon. ❤ An I bought a vacuum last month for 30 dollars . It works good. It sucks.. 😂
Now I believe what y'all call sultanas is what we call raisins dehydrated grapes? An when I make fried chicken I coat with seasoned flour an crushed up cornflakes... An an egg wash in between... It makes the yummiest fried chicken 🍗. An I fry it in a shallow pan with corn oil.
I was watching someone the other day they were showing a haul an they claim to have paid 30 dollars for a whole chicken .... Omg an nope no an double No... Heeheehee an yes those cookd chickens r very yummy. They used to cost 4.99 at a Walmart or a Costco or sam's club an now theyr 6.99 at Walmart. I used to buy 2 a week an me an my dogs would eat them all the time.... ❤
Lol, no! And it used to only come in a 2 pack as well, now it’s a 3 pack. But they do go through it in the first couple of weeks and then homemade from that point :)
You couldn't buy a chicken and cook it for the price of the cooked. It's a lost leader in US costcos. I've noticed most TH-camrs who shop at costco buy them, I know I would. I love shopping halls, yours and The Bones family are the best.
I used to buy a lot of raw whole chooks back when they were like $3.50/kg, but they're all sitting at $6.50+ a kg and its just not worth it at that price. I do hope we get our chicken processing working better to have access to whole chickens more often here at home from our own flocks, but in the meantime, I think this is a really great option.
Lol, I think they mostly wonder why anyone would watch, but they're supportive as well, and I hope that as they get older and I get better at this, they can contribute to it as well, whether their own channels of their own interest or just helping me to manage this one better :D

I've done some calculations re the coffee beans and instant because we drink a lot of cold brew over the summer, I worked out that we use about 120g of coffee beans for 3L of cold brew (which we drink over 2-3 days, the cheapest $1.20/100g coffee means thats about $1.44) If we use instant, We use about a dessertspoon per cup of blended iced coffee, because we make it like a frappe, so say 10g per each of us per day, which ends up being approx $2.16 for the 2-3 days, this is when its on special too ($18/500g).
It's funny how we get a dopamine buzz from other people's shopping hauls... and the bigger relief we experience as we fill up our larders again... i call it siege mentality... i'm good in a siege if my pantry/larder and fridges are stocked 😂
You appear less worn out post haul than previous ones... noticably higher energy. It's good to see, Nyssa. 🌻
Nice strawberries 3.99 a pound (1/2 kilo in US.
Super cheap for really high quality ones, over summer I can get some cheaper, but they're normally ones I have to immediately rinse in vinegar and pick out bad ones, no bad ones in these punnets! :D
Thx for all the effort to do this huge haul❤we appreciate ya. PS you know me as Kelli King from Ohio just changed my handle
Ahh, sometimes hard to keep track hehe, thank you Kelli :D
Congrats 👏 on 9k I subscribed when you had approx 1000...well done🎉
have you tried asking cole woolie or aldi for bulk buy in rice milk
@@OurSmallFootprint fair enough….you know your own kids😀
How to you keep all those strawberries for 4-6 weeks
Those tomatoes look yummy an yes they r very good looking. I'd be eating tomato sandwichs. My favorite
Hang on. Do you use 4 bottles of tomato sauce in one night of hot dogs?
What do your kids think about you being a TH-camr? Do they think it is cool or do they wonder why anyone would want to watch their mum lol?
Lol, I think they mostly wonder why anyone would watch, but they're supportive as well, and I hope that as they get older and I get better at this, they can contribute to it as well, whether their own channels of their own interest or just helping me to manage this one better :D
