disconnected from the xbox last night and simply plugged the usb into my Wind 10 pc this morning. It was recognized and became a webcam and skype enabled. That download doesn't have to happen - allows tricks from what you've presented. Interesting info.
theres no need to install de SDK, just plug your kinect v2 with the adapter to a usb 3 port. and run windowsupdate. it should download the latest drivers for it. it will appear as an extra camera for teams. camera app, zoom, etc

It worked but not well, I looks really good but nearly allways the kinetic goes off after a short time and always stand in green popups above the middle monitos. And then mostly the cam are gone :(.
Your Kinect video footage lags awfully probably because you purchased a cheap adapter from China. You should record a video solely using the Kinect instead of using screen capture.

Thanks a lot for posting this, Caroline! I am using Windows 11 and, at first, no app on my was recognizing the Kinect as a camera, even though I could see the video feed through the ColorBasics. After a couple restarts, it worked perfectly!
i use this setup and it works great, but just make sure to uninstall all Kinect drivers and apps apart from 2.2.1905 as this is the driver that allows you to use your kinect as a webcam (using DirectShow) unfortunately this means installing the kinect studio app but it should remain working fine if you additionally use your kinect for tracking in vr with Amethyst
when installing 2.2.1905 drivers, make sure to also follow microsoft’s instructions for installation by installing only the required driver, and not running the .msi file included in the zip file you download from their site. this yielded a working result for me and while the msi might still work fine, i would try to eliminate any problems you might encounter incase you were having problems getting it working with windows 10 20h2 like myself. i believe when running the msi file it tries to install older drivers for compatibility purposes but these are useless for the average user unless you are running something very, very old that hasn’t gotten an update in many years
wish windows hello worked with kinects. Mine worked for years, but after the last update it no longer works with windows hello. This is why I usually don't restart or update, updates break more things than they fix.
This still works on windows 11. One extra step I needed to do was update the driver via device manager otherwise apps didn't recognise it.

If you have a good gaming pc or a work station PC a lot of the SDK tests work amazing, especially the fusion 3D render test.

Very cool but I would have liked to have seen a full screen video recording from the raw Kinect output instead of the small screen capture.
so you basically have low framerate issue, and it's a REAL issue if you are going to use kinect as a webcam

Cool if u can use kinect 2 as ps4 cam. To play playground. Kinect 2 is more powerfull then ps4 cam
Unfortunately they are fundamentally different. The kinect uses time of flight sensors to gauge depth while the PS4 cam uses stereoscopy.
A tip is try different USB ports as I had try 3. Windows 11 with Windows Hello is awesome
what are the benefits of using this?
using kinect for vr and for other arcade machines, such as dance evolution or emulating other kinect games. kinect as a webcam as well

Hi, it installed and I can see myself in the Verify Depth and colour streams. However no apps will detect it. Not zoom, skype or teams?
Is it possible to zoom in and out with the Kinect? So far I have not found an app or anything in the SDK to do this.
