Awww! Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know that. I love all of my narrators so much and am very picky in selecting them because for me the narrator can make or break the audiobook. So I'm glad you agree with my narrator preferences. ;)
Ruth is a breath of fresh air. Then, as now, we live with facades of all-is-well. Thank you for graciously arranging for this narrator to unfold this story for us. As to the advertising, mere tissue paper, of a gift, temporarily hiding the gift within.
It amazes me how critical people can be about the narrators. Its not easy to be a narrator and doing different voices, accents etc. Do those criticizing read in different accents? 8:44:39 Id like to give credit to this narrator and found she presented the book well. To the author, this is my first of your books and I look forward to the others.
Thank you for your comment. I agree that narrators are amazing and they have a hard job. I could never read in so many voices let alone keep them all straight.
I Loved The Nabob's Daughter and was so pleased to find another story written by Jess and Narrated by Janna - thanks for sharing you talents with us. This was so enjoyable to listen to - looking forward to what you will write next as your main characters have the most amasing stories that keeps one listening and waiting with eagerness for what will happen next. 📖♥
People in the Regency period seemed to spend most of their time parting their lips, dropping their chins, clearing their throats, stiffening their spines, and adjusting their cravats.
I have completed the book and it felt so different from your other titles. My eyes were opened wide to the potential actions of mothers who lacked so much in the emotions department with men that they molded or tried to in this case to mold their children harshly into a concept ruled by games manipulations and pretentions. Even though this is a work of fiction two truths trumpeted forth 1. Love is real. 2. Time reveals the depth of that truth. This was so well written. Thank you do much for posting. I throughly enjoyed this. Bravo 👏🏾
YES! YES! YES! 🎉❤🎉 Ma’am you are quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I rarely, if ever read books twice but The Nabobs Daughter is one that I cannot stop thinking of! The narrator is a true spoken word artist. I can’t wait to get started on this one! I left comments on other audiobook threads for others to check out your work. Just in time for my “weekend” thanks so much! - New fan in SW Missouri 💛
I was so happy to see you’d added this one! Thank you so much, Jess!!! Isn’t that beautiful lady on the cover you? I’ve been anxiously awaiting a new book. 😊 Thanks again!!
I thought at first that she was less obnoxious than her mother but after mentally sitting on my hands so as to not slap the uppitty out of her these last several minutes, maybe that apple didn’t fall far after all. Ready for her to grow up and quick. 😐
Haha. Right? I felt the same way writing this from time to time. But I'm so glad I allowed her to be who she was trained to be in the beginning because it made the redemptive arc so much sweeter for me! I hope it did for you too. ;)
Thank you so much for this upload. I enjoyed it immensely. Love the plot and the narrator does a wonderful job, too. You made my day and half a night 😊 Best wishes and great success for all of your projects,. Good books are like good friends - they comfort us in hard times and they make us smile a lot on sunshine days. Thank you for doing just this for me. I'll check out more of your works. 🙋🏻♀ I was a bit disappointed that book 3 of the series is not available here on YT Couldn't find the author, Ashtyn Newbold, or any of her books on YT other than an interview... perhaps someday? Her title sounds very promising. Would love to listen to the complete series.
Thank you for your sweet comment. And yes, because the series is a multi-author project (each book is written by a different author), not all of them are on audio yet. But I can tell you that Ashtyn Newbold is a fantastic author and "The Last Eligible Bachelor" is definitely worth a read until it comes out on audio. ;)
@@AuthorJessHeileman? I am surely missing something here. This is book 2 in a 3 part series but you are not the author of the other books? How does that work? Each person decides the personality of the characters? Is it a continuation of the character’s journey or each book has the same characters in total different worlds?
I was waiting on an audiobook from the library and thought i would take a listen to this book that i have the paperwork copy of..... Umm... I'm already in LOVE!! 😍😍
I must concur with the other responses. The Nabobs Daughter was a refreshing and endearing story and this is the same. So glad you touched on the general sterility of the emotional tenure of this time and space. Repression... im only about a fourth of the way in but already i appreciate you so much.
My goodness. Where do I start? ☺ Right off, I loved it! You really had me. I don't know if I've told you or not, but I listen to the books in a very odd way. I listen as I sleep, so I catch snippets all night as I sometimes awaken, so I know bits ahead of where I want to start the next night. Of course,, I knew about her leaving Augustus, and I knew some of her time with her expected fiancee. When I finally made it to restart at her leaving Augustus, I turned it off for a couple of days. I just couldn't take his heartbreak, so I delayed it. I simply couldn't see how you could possibly make things to bring them back together. I finally faced it and made it to the end. Mission Accomplished!! You did it beautifully! (I KNEW you had to somehow. ☺) Thank you for an intriguing and surprising-details book!!🥰
Agreed. Haha. She's the absolute worst in the beginning, but I truly felt inspired to write her story. I enjoy all the wonderful heroines we so often get to read about in these historical romances, but many (if not most) young ladies in the ton would have actually been raised similarly to Arabella, and I wanted to give that overlooked perspective--the one that so often show up as the antagonist or contagonist in other stories. Hopefully she grows on you if you keep listening. And if not, that's okay too. Not every book is for every person. ;)
Delightful characters, enchanting story! I also must encourage people to listen to the Nabobs Daughter! Both novels are intriguing and unexpected, yet thoroughly charming and enjoyable!
I'm on chapter 6. So far Bella seems insufferable and quite full of herself. She's 10 years away from becoming as nasty as her mother. I trust there will be a change in her personality. I hope it comes soon.
Wonderful story… someone has mentioned ‘ Nabobs daughter’ - is that the next book ? I daren’t say too much for fear of spoiling this tale for the next reader- but I loved the way we found ourselves not liking our heroine here and there. Really well done and Thank you!
It is part of a series, but each novel is a stand alone without overlapping characters. That being said, each one is such a lovely story and several of the authors have their book in the series on TH-cam for free. Here is the list of other books in the series with the author that wrote each book: Book One: The Road through Rushbury by Martha Keyes Book Two: The Last Eligible Bachelor by Ashtyn Newbold Book Three: A Forgiving Heart by Kasey Stockton Book Four: A Well-Trained Lady by Jess Heileman Book Five: The Cottage by Coniston by Deborah M. Hathaway Book Six: A Haunting at Havenwood by Sally Britton Book Seven: His Disinclined Bride by Jennie Goutet
The narrator has very good voice but she is so, so terrible in doing the various voices😢. A real pity. also the delayes between sentences sometimes is super weird. I played it in 1.1 speed. A bit better that way.
I'm sorry you didn't think she did the various voices well. I thought she did an exceptional job, but we're all entitled to our opinions. As for speed, I wholeheartedly agree. I listen to most audiobooks at at least 1.25. ;)
Do you have a time stamp so I can hear it? I'd be happy to take a look. But, I will say, knowing how talented my narrator is and that she reads my books with precision, I doubt the fault is hers. If there is a mistake, it's more likely on me than her. ;)
Each book a read is my favorite.. can’t decide.. everything perfect.. the righting, narrating .. perfect 👌🏼

Especially when they are in fact human beings as opposed to A.I. readers.
One of the best books I have ever listened. Great writing and narrator was perfect. Thank you for shaing such a wonderful book. ❤️
This makes me so happy to hear! Thank you.
This was phenomenal 👏 the narrators voice added so much to it it was hard to stop listening! Def one of my top 5 favorite audiobooks here on TH-cam

People in the Regency period seemed to spend most of their time parting their lips, dropping their chins, clearing their throats, stiffening their spines, and adjusting their cravats.
Haha. Exactly! My husband likes to tease that Regency action is really just "bust action"--everything is subtle and takes place from the chest up.
The good old days.
Great book ❤ Hoping Ruth and Sarah have their own books too xXx
Yess!
I just finished The Nabob's Daughter yesterday (and LOVED it). The timing is perfect. Thank you!
I'm so glad you enjoyed The Nabob's Daughter! I hope you love this one too!

Same here! It was such a wonderful book!! Excited to listen …
I loved the Nabob's Dqughter too

So thankful for another one of your awesome books!! Thank you!!
A very captivating story. Wasn't sure it would have a happy ending with all the twists and turns but true love won! Well done!
Thank you! I have a real biased toward happy endings. I can't imagine writing a book without one. ;)
What a well-written story, and so suberbly read. Thank you.
Thank you for listening!
Yay your writing is so lovely. I am excited and am listening now!
Good listening all
Loving this and your previous release! Thank you for your generosity in sharing your gift!!

Haha. Maybe. ;) Let's just say 2020 was a rough time for doing photoshoots for covers.

I got so angry at Arabella I could spit nails! Her snooty attitude ugh! Hope she comes to her senses before book ending.
I really dislike the main character Arabella and I’m finding it hard to listen to the story
I don't know who I find the most annoying, if Arabella and her "holier than thou" attitude, or Ruth in her sheer stupidity.
Agreed. Haha. She's the absolute worst in the beginning, but I truly felt inspired to write her story. The way they speak to servants is so wrong “your betters”that’s awful
It is wrong. Historically accurate for people of Arabella's station, but wrong. ;)

There is no such word as bitted. What is wrong with the narrator?

There IS a word "bitted". It is the action of putting a bit in a horses mouth.
