Yeah! I have a cup of tea, 2 biscuits, and a fuzzy blanket. I’m ready for a good listen. What a good way to spend Sunday afternoon. Thank you. More comment at the end. 😊
a very different, thought provoking insight to the two newlyweds - complete strangers. Thank you for allowing these characters to be kind, compassionate, generous and genteel.
I loved this ❤️ I am newly postpartum with my second and just needed something to keep me calm and happily entertained during some late night nursing sessions. This was such a wonderful listen and I can't believe it only took you 8 days to write! I'm so impressed. You are doing what you are meant to be, and it shows in your beautiful books ❤
Never disappoints, an (8) day free flow of a lovely reawakening of “Getting to Know You” to paraphrase a beautiful feeling song into an actual story of successful ends! Adored the feeling of Listen to discovery….
The class differences were so stark in the regency era, and there were so few unions like this one that its very understandable the husband and wife took so long to get close and comfortable with each other. I'm glad they did. Sometimes lifetimes go by without a bond.
Thank you Sally. Just finished. Sweet and tender. Showing that love and respect are more important than class differences. I like stories about unions like this. They're some of my favorite stories.
This was such a lovely escape from my current stresses. I enjoyed the story, thought the bits with the painting were fun, and look forward to more stories in this world.
Oh my! What a sweet and tender story of new love. Thank you for a story with no tension and lots of winter and Christmas. I am looking forward to more stories about Felicity and Tad...and Lord William. Merry Christmas to you, Sally and all your dear ones. ♥️
As usual, I loved the book, especially that everything was expressed in a “magical” way. 😊 Even the snowflakes lend their touch of magic along with the picture of the village. When Felicity noticed that the vicar was handling the box as though there was something precious inside, I immediately thought of a kitten or puppy. What a wonderful touch of cuddling warmth that you wanted to convey with this book. As soon as Felicity mentioned that they should befriend Lord William, I hoped that you would give him his own story. I’m looking forward to more at Winterway. I wish for you a wonderful Christmas and “comfort and joy”, “a warm hug”, and “hot chocolate on a snowy day.” 😊
How handsome and beautiful are Felicity and Tad! Even though I haven’t read about Penny yet. The scene is so elegant, And how fun the social tutor! I loved having faces to names, Thank you for the extra gifts. I can't wait to delve into the books! ☺
A very sweet, wonderfully developed romance. I appreciated there not being a lot of angst or conflict with prior loves, etc. This was simply a newly wed couple finding their way to love over time.
@@AuthorSallyBritton Honestly, your stories help get through the chores and daily tasks. I struggle with being easily Distracted and procrastination, also known as ADHD, and just listening to your stories really helps me stay focused on the task at hand and actually get it done. It also helps the day go by faster at work 😊
@@nataliabidunartvlog5503 I have ADHD too!!!! Late diagnosis. But it made so much sense when I finally got it. 🙂 Audiobooks and podcasts do the same thing for me.
Listening to this feels like I am nestling in a warm, soft, delicately woven (by hand!) blanket. I really appreciate that, in spite of the avowed tropes, this is well and carefully written and not merely formulaic 😊
The painting, a gift from the previous special couple of “Winter House” set our couple off to con’t their kindnesses to Community & find they too are a compassionate couple w/ Common-Ground….
It truly did. My mom finally read it two days ago. She couldn't put it down - which is actually a high compliment, event if I'm her kid. She doesn't generally like reading fiction. How she gave birth to an author is always a bit of a puzzle to her!
Dear Miss Sally, At 2am I thought to see if you have given us something new for Christmas. And you did and posted only two hours ago, I not planned on being 27:43 up all night but I will now. What a gift Sally! What hard work. Many thanks and a Happy Christmas to you and all your dear ones🥰
Sally this was so sweet. The painting is a bit creepy. I half expected her to find a toy making workshop in the attic. Making snowmen in the village was my favourite scene. Felicity is so authentic and her honesty with her husband is wonderful.
Sally, I just wanted to thank you for pointing me to Jess Heileman’s The Nabob’s Daughter via your community tab! As I have mentioned before, I have been in a real quandary finding books I enjoy listening to like yours. Jess is just the solution! I’m looking forward to listening to all her books. I know now to pay attention to your community tab. 😉
Okay. Just want you to know there are male readers out here who can enjoy romantic stories but require a little or more of intrigue in the story. A protagonist and a adversary small or great can always hold my interest and allow the emotions of romance to be appreciated. That said thanks for all of your work.
Not sure I cared for the character Tad. At first his disinterest in her made me wonder if he was gay. She always seems to be the one trying to force him into a physical relationship. Yet in Chapter 17 he observes that is her first request to have him stay in her bedroom for the night. That seems untrue. Confusing. Maybe having more description in the beginning of what brought him to marry her would make his character more solid. We don't need to know everything but a more defined character might be better way to start the story. Audiobooks are great but it's difficult to go back and recheck the facts previously revealed. Really enjoyed the narrator and the period the story is set in. The inclusion of a "magical" painting felt odd though as it wasn't woven into the storyline throughout. Maybe it could be a theme for a separate story. Thanks for sharing your novel. Looking forward to listening to other novels.
Everything you brought up IS explained in the story early on. (1) He's terrified of doing something wrong, since he's been brought up in a different class than her. This includes physical intimacy. (2) That IS the first time she asks him to stay. All the other times, she's dropping hints that he's certain he's misreading. (3) The explanation for their marriage is clearly given in the first chapters. His dad wants his son to be a gentleman, not a merchant. Much like Charles Bingley's situation in Pride and Prejudice. (5) Magical realism is a big part of the story. I hope this helped. I know audio can be difficult when you can't go back as easily to refresh your memory on details!
The story is nice but a bit too syrupy to be believeable. Your narrator maybe English and she has a nice voice but her annuciation might be so-called middle English but an excellent narrator would not say Crack-er-ling, ring-ging and other similar bad pronounciations which makes the narration go from a possible excellent to just okay.
I love that there wasn't an anxiety-stricken conflict in this sweet story. Thanks!
I agree. This time of year, there is enough anxiety in my everyday life. It's nice to just listen and relax.
That's what Ilove about Sally's stories. They are non-agitating in their sweetness, soothing without being boring!
I agree! That is one of the best things about her stories ❤
I certainly write stories WITH that sort of angst - but not at Christmas. :-)
Totally agree. My personal stress levels are always through the roof this time of year.
Sally, your narrator has a wonderful range of voices and expressions that truly bring life and magic to your story!!! An perfect partnership!
