It’s never the same show, right? Even two consecutive nights in the same city have different set lists. Some people just don’t know, I wish everyone could experience a show once in their life, to blow their minds and feel that energy!
The Boss. That’s all I can say.. Edit: When it comes to Springsteen live performances, his performance of the song, Thunder Road, from the Hammersmith Odeon in London, 1975, is absolutely fantastic.
oh yeah, that concert and song is him at his best i recommended it to another reaction site. his shows were three-penny opera colliding with rock 'n roll i love the Hammersmith "She's the One" too
@@kuvasz5252 Hammersmith "She's The One" is basically the purest distillation of what Rock'n'Roll is in my book. Although the cuts of the Detroit Medley and Quarter to Three from that show are pretty much doing the same thing.
I was fortunate to go to the Bruce Springsteen Born to Run Concert...it lasted three hours, and he finished the regular set with this song...I thought the 3 hour concert was the best one I had ever experienced.....until a few years later when I went to the Springsteen Born to Run concert...this started with a 2 hour set, he took a 20 minute break, then played for 3 hours more! THAT was the greatest concert I've attended in my life...amazing!
I understand from some of your other reactions that you enjoy a nice sax solo.....check out Springsteen's song "Jungle Land"...gives me goosebumps every time
The wild the innocent and the east street shuffle. An amazing album. Big part of my life. The Big Man Clarence Clemons, wow, what can I say. He gave me chills playing that sax. A true icon in music. RIP Clarence. Bruce loved him like his own blood. He was his Brother. With regards to stage presence, he has and always has had it, hands down. He controlled the crowd. I have been to his concerts and I know this to be true. He rarely played less than 3.5 hours, mostly 4-hour shows. You were worn out at the end of one of his shows. You came out of the concert feeling like you just saw something and it was worth every dime that you paid.
Amazing that 45 years after this, the only two band members from this video who are not still playing with him, Danny Federici and Clarence Clemons, are the ones who have passed away. The remainder of the band are still playing with him to this day, and Clarence's nephew Jake has taken over sax duties. These guys know how to play together.
This is my favourite live music clip, I first saw it when I was 10 years old and I thought it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen, I've been a Bruce fan ever since.
Iconic video - this is the live daddy of them all, the benchmark many had to follow. I always say about Bruce and the boys, they are so great, not the best, but top tier ...studio wise that is...but live, he really is the Boss, and together they are the greatest entertainers live you could wish to see, full stop.
Nailed it! Bruce's energy level and stage presence were unmatched... I had the pleasure of seeing him in concert twice in the early 80's--the first time I was in the 5th row and it was incredible!! His concerts lasted 3-4 hours. Thanks for this video. Brought back great memories!!
The good old days when we enjoyed concerts instead of holding up a cell phone the whole concert. I've seen him in concert at least a dozen times starting way back in the early 70"s.
Seeing Bruce Springsteen and The E Street band live is unbelievable. Concerts that go 3hrs plus. The last concert I saw him a few years ago lasted 4hrs. The energy he puts out every show is amazing and no set list is the same. Clarence Clemmons passed , but his nephew Jake plays the sax for the band now. The organ player, Danny Federici, passed as well. Some other great songs to check out: Jungleland, Thunder Road, Badlands, Spirit In The Night. There won't be a shortage of songs to choose from.
I'm from Staten Island and most of my driving trips involve at least passing through Jersey. And no trip on the Turnpike is complete with having Bruce on the radio.
Thanks for reviewing the early Bruce. Everyone starts later in his career when he was an established star. Some of his best records were his first two albums Greetings From Ashbury Park and The Wild, the Innocent, and the E Street Shuffle. Check out his live performance of “Spirit in the Night” from The Hammersmith Odeon in London.
Or New York City Serenade. There's a live version from Rome in 2013 that is absolutely stunning. I think he'd especially appreciate the gorgeous piano in it. ❤
Late to the party but there is no way to describe the presence of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. Not only did they play EVERY song at this level for 3 1/2 hours or longer every night but they have the ability to play 300+ songs at a moment's notice every time they go out on stage. That's right. Most nights Springsteen doesn't have a set playlist and he and the band wing it based on either the mood or fan requests. There is nothing else quite like a live Springsteen show. I once took my father to a Springsteen show and -- despite him not being a fan -- he has admitted that it was the best live concert he's ever attended. My father has seen Queen, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Alice Cooper, and many more bands that he much prefers and even he had to admit that no one delivered like Springsteen. He's even asked that, next time that he comes into town, I buy him tickets to a show.
Bruce's new stuff is just as good. His concert's are amazing. My last Concert was 2016 in Philly. Was 4 hours and 6 minutes with no breaks. He was 66. What's nice since he was famous every concert he donates 10 grand to the local food banks.
I love watching all these young reactors enjoying the great music I grew up with. But I love how you do your videos. You put the bands up on the big screen so we can enjoy them. And I can still see the pleasure on your lovely face. Keep playing that great music. ✌️

I'm a little late to the party,, but just wanted to compliment you on your great reaction video. It's amazing how after one viewing you were able to understand just about everything that makes Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band so great. Stage presence, energy, amazing musicianship, great song. Bruce is a rocker first and foremost. But he's also a great lyricist. A poet. Maybe you will discover that side of him in future reaction videos. But very good job on this one. Kudos.
Mighty Max is a rock, the Professor's fills are incredible, the entire band is as tight as a fat man's trousers after lunch, and they can do this for hours.
Scooter and The Big Man and E. ST. Band so much fun. Seen them over 20 times. Two shows went almost 5 hours. Unreal. Every song and story was a hook for more crowd energy which the band fed on for the next set. I've been to many concerts of many genres and never saw a fight at (combined) over 40 Bruce or Billy Joel concert which is so interesting. Its hard to miss a fight leaving the front door...but these guys inspired love and respect! Great review. Glad i joined you.
Only saw Bruce once, only needed to see him once. It was on the same tour from this video, the 1978 "Darkness on the Ege of Town" album tour. At the time Bruce still only had a "cult" following. I arrived at the venue, a 2500 seat capacity music hall in Omaha, Nebraska, 30 minutes before the show, and you could still purchase a ticket at the box office! While waiting on line a person sold me his ticket, at face value, $8.50, telling me it is a great seat. He wasn't lying, the seat was center from the stage, three rows back from the stage. The performance was just as captivating as this video. Bruce was no more than five feet in front of me during the show. When Bruce stepped off the stage during the song "Spirits In The Night" I walked up to him and stuck my hand out palm up. Bruce looked at me and saw my palm was out for him to slap it. He didn't just slap it lightly. He raised the palm of his hand above his shoulder and it came down and slapped my palm. I raised my arm up, the same way as Bruce had, and when he saw that, he put his palm out and I slapped his. I didn't anything to him. We just gave each other five and kept on duffing!
Bruce's lead guitarist is Steve Van Zandt, Bruce introduced him as Miami Steve but is probably better known as Little Steven. He played Silvio Dante in The Sopranos. He also starred in Lillehammer. Talented guy.
Saw Bruce and the band in the "Born in the U.S.A tour. They played for 3 hrs with a 20 min intermission. Sold out LA Coliseum 2 nights. Unbelievable concert!! So grateful I had a ticket and experienced him Live! ♥️👍💃
i will always envy my dad because he saw bruce when he used to jump on the tables of the bar he was playing ( nowhere near the fame he has in this performance) and would even jump from table to table. Also max weinberg, the drummer was the drummer/leader of conan’s band back when he was the follow up to leno on nbc.
Organ player was the late Dan Federici, which is probably where you heard "Reece." The band on stage in this performance is the same band that's been playing with Bruce from about that time until the present, minus Federici and Clemons following their deaths, and with the addition of Nil Lofgren and Bruce's wife Patti Scialfa as guitarists/vocalists, and Soozie Tyrell as a violinist. The interesting thing about the band is that they've been playing together since they were kids, some of them since literally in high school or just out of high school. They have a deep, deep love for each other, but don't particularly LIKE each other, if that makes any sense. You can tell in his most recent album that Bruce deeply misses Clarence and Dan, as well as the leader of his first band who recently passed. At the same time, though, they had difficult relationships. Bruce is demanding. He's the Boss. All of them have side/solo music and acting gigs, and Bruce has done several solo albums with one or two members of the E Street Band, as well as a couple albums with an entirely different backing band that he toured with for part of the 90s. The E Street Band was more or less broken up from about 1985 to 1995 while everyone did their own thing. They've been back together since. The most recent album, they recorded live in Bruce's home studio with minimal overdubs. At this stage in his life, Bruce was also deeply depressed, which you totally wouldn't know from his performance. He keeps that shit up for three hours. Five years or so after this performance he discovered Prozac and working out in the gym. He's still pretty ripped at 70-something years old. I wouldn't want to mess with him. In the 80s he started wearing vests or shirts with the sleeves ripped off, so everyone could admire his guns while he played. For my money, Bruce and the E Street Band are the greatest recording artists of all time. Awards, chart positions, concert attendance, and lifetime earnings compared to other acts back that up. He's top 3 or 4 all time in all those metrics, and has multiple Grammys, an Oscar, and a Tony. He recently sold his catalog to Sony for more than a half billion dollars, eclipsing Bob Dylan's catalog sale from a year or so previous. He is, simply put, the greatest living musical artist and compares favorably to The Beatles, Elvis, Michael Jackson, and Kanye in every measure of popularity. If I'm not mistaken, every song on Born in the USA charted top 40, which is a record that still stands. Love your insights into the songs from a musician's perspective!
Awesome live. Show I saw ran 1and a half hours longer than planned. He had this energy through 90% of it. Been to many concerts and his was one of the best. We crawled out of the Spectrum about 1:30 in the morning.
Been a huge fan for 41yrs and still get goosebumps every time I watch his live videos. Seen him a few times as well, no words to describe how good he is.....
Best concert I was ever at was Bruce (and I've been to a lot of concerts). Bruce has the most amazing connection to the audience. It has to be felt to be believed. It blew me away.
Thanks for reacting to Bruce. Please react to some more. I put together a set of 10 Live recordings that show Springsteen’s diversity through the nearly 50 years he has been playing. I’m a Jersey Girl. I can’t help it. I am not suggesting you react to any of them or all of them. Just watch a couple and you will be like “Wow. What have I been listening to? How did I miss this?” Springsteen fans are incredibly devoted. My 37 trips to his shows (I did 6 one year) is nothing compared to fans who have seen 150+. My first was in 1980 but by last was in 2 years ago. I need a fix. His concerts are legendary. He sells out every show in minutes and his concerts will typically last 3.5 hours with sets of 25 songs or more. Bruce makes an unexplainable, indelible, even mystical, connection with his fans every single time he steps on stage. Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band - Light of Day (Live in New York City) The Promised Land (London Calling: Live In Hyde Park, 2009) Bruce Springsteen & Tom Morello - The ghost of Tom Joad (Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, 2009) Bruce Springsteen - Jungleland (The River Tour, Tempe 1980) Drift Away - Bruce Springsteen (20-08-1984 Brendan Byrne Arena, East Rytherford,New Jersey) Rocky Ground - Springsteen - Tampa March 23, 2012 Bruce Springsteen with the Sessions Band - Pay Me My Money Down (Live In Dublin) Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band - Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out (Live in New York City) Racing in the Street (Live at The Paramount Theatre 2009) Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band - Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out (Live in New York City) And as a kicker, the largest tribute band in recorded history. Even I think this is bizarre. But I would so be there. No Surrender Festival - Bruce Springsteen tribute Official Video
He played my college town in upstate NY in spring 75' and his first two albums playing from dorm windows wherever you walked. He was quite a sensation, especially since lots of us didn't even know who he was beforehand.
Bruce comes from a time when a band, or any perfomer, had to build an audience on stage before a record label would ever consider signing them. The intro bit was part of every show, and always has been. When they hit the road again, it will most likely still be. It is rehearsed, in that a song late in the set, maybe during encores, will have a lengthy vamp where the intros. They're such a solid tight band, that 40-plus years in, they still have a bar band vibe. The best one ever!
I know you already reacted to Born to Run, but you should definitely check the live version out. Talk about commanding the stage! I've been to countless Bruce concerts and he never fails to deliver. I had my kids watch "Springsteen and Me", a movie where fans share the effect he and his music had on their lives (a great movie for anyone who wants to check it out). When it was over, I asked them "who's your Springsteen?" They both said "we don't have a Springsteen." It made me so sad.
Tom Morello played on one of the Australian tours and commented that he had to learn so many songs as Bruce would just either change the set list mod concert or pick up a song request from the crowd. The concerts are so dynamic.
The Hammond B3 is played by Danny Federici. I's been to 37 Concerts With Bruce and E Street and I am still considered a newbie. There are folks who have been to litterally hundreds of shows and they typically are over 3 hours in length. On of the Hallmarks of these concerts is people will hold up signs with song titles. Most are his tunes.. But I have seen him break into Brown-eyed Girl or Satisfaction by the Stones on the fly. And the band is right there with him. That is the musicianship you talked about. And the showmanship is till there 45 years later. The man takes his audience to Church . How about another live performance? Jungleland, Light of Day, or Tenth Avenue Freeze Out for Live in NYC in 2000. Badlands London Calling: Live In Hyde Park, 2009
Roberta, The first time I went to see Bruce was in 1978. That was the concert at the Roxy in West Hollywood. I was 17. That became a legendary concert. Bruce and the E Street Band were on fire.
I’m a little late to the party with your page, but that was awesome. The best part is this song comes at the end of a Bruce show. The amount of energy he had was insane.
I caught Bruce in Los Angeles on his Born in the USA tour ... four and half hours and the crowd still wanted more. The organist is not "Reese" but Danny Federici (RIP).
This. This is one of the most awesome live performances ever. I'm trying to think of anything as good?? Another great high energy video on here is Wilson Pickett Land of 1000 Dances. (filmed in Ghana in 1971). Wilson had stage presence!
Over the decades I've been to five of his shows. Not a lot, there's ppl out there who've done dozens of shows, but I'm not a hard-core fans and there are many other fun concerts to visit. The longest Springsteen show I've attended was 3 hours and 48 minutes. A week later he crossed the 4 hour mark somewhere in Scandinavia. I rarely put on his studio records, maybe with the exception of his debut album. They're usually good albums, but nothing ever compares with what you experience at these concerts. There are many great bands (big and small) that will give you a good live show. But I've rarely ever seen a band as consistantly energetic on stage as the hard working, stage breaking, earth shaking... E... STREET... BAND
The best live concerts I’ve been to is Bruce by far. If you ever get a chance listen to anything from his London Calling live in Hyde Park especially “Out in the Street” and “Badlands. They have great crowd interactions. If you want socially relevant listen to “Ghost of Tom Joad” live featuring Tom Morello especially live in New York and a sad one “ If I Should fall Behind” also Live in New York. Thanks.
Here are a few more wonderful Bruce songs to react to, I'd suggest studio versions of all for the pure unadulterated sound, but he's just so good live as you saw that I won't say no to a live version of them hehehe: Dancing in the Dark, My Hometown, Brilliant Disguise, Streets of Philadelphia, Blood Brothers, Secret Garden, This Hard Land, I'm On Fire
Not sure I've ever seen a harder working performer! In these years, Bruce was on top of the world! One of the highest energy shows I've ever seen, for sure!
For all the reasons I know you will appreciate, you should hear either "The Promised Land" or "Jackson Cage" from a concert recorded by professional filmmakers and in multichannel audio directly from the mixing board in Tempe, Arizona. Search for "Springsteen, The River Tour, Tempe" and there they will be. Probably any from this concert footage are phenomenal, but my favorites are the two I mentioned. Springsteen is less frantic, yet even more energetic. He pours out every ounce of energy he has. Everyone should see this film documentary. It is on DVD but it is here on TH-cam.
🤯 😁 I love this song! Reminds me of old Stone Pony days! 😒 It was always getting back to the City which caused me to miss many Bruce shows. His shows were legendary! 🐰 #ENRGYZRBunny
The incredible thing is Bruce is this intense for 3 hours or more per concert. He doesn't hop around as much as in 1978 but the energy is still there.
A Springsteen concert was an experience! The band had fun, the audience had fun. The E Street band was the best live band I ever saw!
When people ask why I've seen Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band more than 40 times, well, now you know why....
you are so blasted lucky.. I swear I have to see him before I get much sicker.

This was my first ever video exposure to Springsteen and it was (at 13) crazy to me. At my age now, it’s AMAZING!
Rosalita is an amazing song and what a powerful performance
You’re awesome for rollin this out👌🏻.. Been a minute since I listened to.. one of my favorites 💪🏻🎸🇺🇸
Bruce's lead guitarist is Steve Van Zandt, Bruce introduced him as Miami Steve but is probably better known as Little Steven. He played Silvio Dante in The Sopranos. He also starred in Lillehammer. Talented guy.
He also has a band, Little Steven and The Disciples of Soul. Awesome show they did out here a couple years ago.
I was living in Phoenix and was at this concert! It was hands down the greatest concert I have ever seen!!!
The best live band of them all.
'Downbound Train' is one my favorites from 'The Boss'. It's a little sad (lost love and all that), but the hook is amazing. :)
I know what you mean, has always been one of my favorites too.
Thanks for playing and reacting to this song.
The greatest rock performer of all times. He was still developing his sound at this early stage and he got a lot better.
I saw him play in 1985. He played 4 hours and never let up. I left the concert feeling like I had had a religious experience.
How did I miss this?”
Springsteen fans are incredibly devoted.
Bruce makes an
unexplainable, indelible, even mystical, connection with his fans every single time he steps on stage.

And as a kicker, the largest tribute band in recorded history. Even I think this is bizarre. But I would so be there.
No Surrender Festival - Bruce Springsteen tribute Official Video
My God they where so damn great and they still are. In their 70s and Bruce said the band is still going strong
Great reaction.. More Bruuuuce..
Puck yea, ive never seen the band introduction before in this song. THANK YOU that was a treat
the original studio album version of ' Jungle Land ' is amazing!
All these years later, I still say they were the greatest live act I've ever seen in my 54 years.
Great to see a reaction channel where the mini screen is the reactor and the maxi screen is the song. You picked a good one here.
Love this one thank you!.
You are extremely intuitive. Bruce's stage presence is amazing. Great job my man!
You nailed it Wilburn. A million thumbs up.
Like many great artists no performance is ever the same. Bruce is a great performer.
Badlands by the Boss is my favorite song from my favorite album by Bruce Springsteen, Darkness On The Edge Of Town 1978
this is crazy! never seen this performance before
You should definitely check out his live version of Thunder Road at Hammersmith in 1975 (and any of the other songs he sang there)...
This. This is one of the most awesome live performances ever. I'm trying to think of anything as good??
Another great high energy video on here is Wilson Pickett Land of 1000 Dances. (filmed in Ghana in 1971). Wilson had stage presence!
One of the greatest moments in........
Rock-n-Roll history.........
☆▪☆ ( The Boss ✌😎 ) ☆▪☆
id never seen this - i was blown away with the energy level
saw at Mad Sq. Garden in 79, great show
Over the decades I've been to five of his shows.
E... STREET... BAND
That’s Dan Federici on the Organ He played with Bruce from day one died of cancer in 2008
The best live concerts I’ve been to is Bruce by far. Thanks.
Do you love songs that take you their place? Listen to Bruce's 'Meeting across the River'
About time you came around to the Boss again...
The Boss
Thanks for listening to this song. Powerful video
Not sure I've ever seen a harder working performer! In these years, Bruce was on top of the world! One of the highest energy shows I've ever seen, for sure!
Seeing Bruce and the E Street Band on a good night has been a privilege.
Try Jungleland because I haven't heard it and many are asking for it.
I love how people are just discovering music I have been listening to for 40 plus years!
🤯 😁 I love this song! Reminds me of old Stone Pony days! 😒 It was always getting back to the City which caused me to miss many Bruce shows. His shows were legendary! 🐰 #ENRGYZRBunny
Last time we saw him live was in 2013-14?. He crowd surfed while singing Hungry Heart.
