Adding in a base acrylic paint color to the mixture before pouring into the molds will help with any chips that may happen...I use it for all my 1/35 th scale armor Diorama builds

Hi Mel, two really easy and very effective ways of coloring rock faces. But...let me make sure I have the steps correctly. For leopard spotting, no pre- wetting of the rock face. For acrylic ink, pre-wet the rock face. Yes? Thanks. See ya Thursday. Hopefully in the studio for more teddy bear fur.

Hi Mel. What kind of acrilic ink did you use? What brand? Thx.
I am doing a jungle vivarium and plaster won’t work in wet environment so I was going to use “ Woodland scenics rock molds and cast the rocks with acrylic resin. Do you have any experience casting rocks with the acrylic resin and would your painting techniques work on the acrylic resin. Would the paint stick in a wet environment. And what type of paint would you use.
Why not just varnish seal them - have you checked out lizard landscapes channel?

I must (against my better judgement) admit your use of black wash does have me re-thinking my opposition to it. I am not switching over yet. Just thankful for your insights.
Now a question. Not to long ago and old RxR buddy willed to me numerous bits and bobs for rail scenery and detailing. One part was a LARGE COLLECTION of rock molds. Some custom made. Some commerical. The commerical includes lovingly used and NEVER USED Woodland Scenics plastic molds. I have written to W-S. Their response is to buy their plaster based products. And only their plaster based products. NUTS TO W-S. I prefer to cast in Epoxy Resin due to its flexibility, ease of cutting & shaping, and light weight. (With #3 the most important due to my benchwork.)
Q.: Have you, or any of the Terrainics, had any success pouring Resin Castings in W-S rock models? Does the plastic melt from the resin? What releasing agent works best?
If a preponderance of NO's, or mold failures, let me know that too. Instead of ruining 17 almost new W-S molds I can still give them to my Train-Terrainics at my RxR club for good use.

Question. Is it possible to do the leopard spotting technique with inks ( I'm a total dunce when it comes to painting rocks an cliffs although I've done a few with not bad results ) I'm thinking you could use some weird and wonderful colours for Fantasy/Sci-fi settings?
