When I started collecting Warhammer miniatures as a teenager I never imagined I would ever say this, but here we go:

Your work is absolutely astonishing! This just looks so real, I need to have a go at making groundcover like this myself. I also would like to say that I really appreciate the production value of your videos . Everything is well lit, shot from angles where one can clearly see everything and also the editing is super smooth. These videos must take almost as much time as the dioramas!

I'm halfway through imitating this for something I'm working on now, and I've gotta say, if you wanted to stop after putting that first coat of raw umber over the modeling paste, it makes an amazingly muddy looking base.

I have to ask are you a chef by any chance? Another very well done meticulously done video. You voice is so calm and serene it would almost put one asleep if they weren't so interested in what the out come was going to be. Those ivy leaves really make this look fantastic so much happening make it look so realistic. LoL on the 4,736 leaves made I really like the idea of the coffee filter idea such a great idea. Makes me think what else I could use them for hmmmm.

Thanks man for your time. Im working on a Forrest Troll for Atlantis Miniatures and I needed some inspiration for base. Also made my saw dust last week out of cat litter. wuite nice texture because of bits of wood.

Paepercuts Hey. Casts are great a d I got Forrest Troll, yeti, goblin adventurer and orc fighter. I did some extra work like grinding some material so the joint with another part is hidden but models are nice and full of detail.

You have to be careful when heating/baking soil, don't you? I remember looking into it for my indoor plants and seeing some warnings about certain temps releasing fumes into the home. Gorgeous work! 😄♥

Personally I'm planning on just getting a few separate tools just for miniatures work so as to avoid any risk of contamination. Perhaps that would be a workable solution for you?

De meeste materialen zijn doorgaans wel te vinden, maar voor de bloemen kan je het beste een filiaal zoeken die ook een snijbloemen afdeling heeft ( niet alle hebben dit, staat op hun website ) Voor 1 soort die ik gebruik kan je evt. '' 1:35 scale White Flowers '' zoeken op Ebay, zijn ook meestal Nederlanders die dit verkopen. Succes!

Wat leuk om een Nederlandse youtuber te vinden die mooie diorama's maakt! Ik ben een beginner en kan nog veel leren van jouw video's. Heb je nog tips voor welke gedroogde kruiden je graag gebruikt om te malen? Ik wil graag wat groene aanslag nabootsen op wat rotsen maar met verf wordt dat lastig denk ik en met kruiden is dat echt een goed idee!
Goed om te horen! Ik zou dilletoppen nemen die worden mooi geel/oker-achtig. Voor groene kan je goed bladpeterselie of basilicum nemen. Je kan het beste geen sterk geurende nemen als rozemarijn en thijm, dit gaat er moeilijk uit en dan ruikt je diorama non-stop naar groentesoep ;-) Succes met je dio's!

This is one of the most helpful tutorials for basing I have seen. It's very impressive!
I dont know if its your style, but I feel like it could be a bit quicker. You explain what you are doing while showing footage of doing it and then linger on the shot for a while. This is helpful if the current step is tricky or not very clear, but if you are just doing something simple that added 5-10 seconds feels like I'm just waiting for you to get to the next bit. I appreciate that you are showing a more realistic idea of how long a process might take, but you could explain what you are doing, and then once you are done explaining maybe play the following footage sped up? 15:57 to 16:08 for example is just watching you gently poke away. We can see the important action pretty well and its simple so you could speed that footage up. When you add all the little pockets of time up from the video you could probably get 2 or 3 minutes of footage that could be sped up letting you improve flow and pacing without loosing the important detail.

Excellent airbrush, especially if you plan on doing close up work on miniatures. You can get a 0,15 needle / nozzle for your mini's, and a 0,2 or 0,4 for larger work such as terrain and priming ( you always need a matching nozzle size for each needle size ) It's also German made so you'll have good access to spare parts and accessories which is handy.

This one is a joy to work with, good capacity and it's so silent i thought it was broke when i got it ;-)

I've linked you from a very good airbrush store in The Netherlands to give you an idea. It's an investment, but i find with airbrushing quality is everything ( i started with the worst compressor in existence from China, when i put it on it started moving over the floor and was really loud haha ) Both the airbrush and the compressor come with 2 years warranty. I'd recommend buying a setup at a store that specializes in airbrushes, so you can ask them for advice and also go back if any problems arise.

I work in a (lackiererei is the german word) paint shop is that the correct word? Before i forgett is it hard to get used to double action? I have not touched an airbrush since my apperenticeship. And that was 20 years ago
It's really easy. All you need is a good responsive trigger on your airbrush, which the Infinity has. Some airbrush stores will let you try them out on a piece of paper so you can get a good feel for it. With your working experience i'm sure you'll pick it up in minutes. Good luck and have fun!

Beautiful work, thanks so much for making this video! Why did you choose an oil wash for this specifically on the wood as opposed to regular acrylic wash? I usually use oil wash for metallics or anything like panel lines where capillary action is important, but rarely organic things like trees, so I was just curious.
Thank you! I find oils work really well on natural wood. The colours from oils are more earthy, whereas acrylic washes tend to be a bit harsh and vibrant. I often apply 2-3 tones and remove some from the raised area with a sponge just like with panel lining ( outlines the cracks and texture of the bark ). The white spirit is slow drying and flows more even than acrylic medium and water will, downside is that they will leave a slight gloss that has to be varnished after, but i'd do that anyway. Cheers!

Love your work man! Very inspiring. I made some of the matt medium solution..mine had quite a runny sediment at the bottom but yours looked a lot harder? Used exactly the same products in the recipe except I used bottled water? Not sure if that matters? Also, I am struggling to get kopi cones..they look very useful. Tried the exact Dutch product gardening website you seem to get a lot from. Can you point me in the right direction for these cones please? I'm in the UK... don't know if they do international shipping?..thanks for any help you can offer 👍
Hi and thank you. If the solution is still runny that means it's not yet fully separated. I'd leave it untouched for at least a week, don't even lift it up to check that may cause it to mix again. As for the water that is o.k, i always recommend distilled water because in some countries tap water is not fully clean. Why do you use the various types of sand, tile glue etc. with great care if you then cover everything with the mixture of sawdust, soil and liquitex?
Wouldn't it be enough to spread the dough on a pvc glue base?
Technically you could do it without. I like to add more layers to make sure i cover everything, aswell as the mixture having a good grip on a rough surface like the sand will provide. Cheers.
