Dude this is such a RARE type of remix; so many just fall into either full electronic or like, full metal (both cool, but both oversaturated). And for one of my favorite game tracks period. hell yea
Thank you! I don't think I'm particularly good at either extreme end of that spectrum so I stay here in the middle hahah Glad to know you appreciate it!!
It's always nice to hear composers take a relatively simple track as a starting point and let their creativity run wild. 3:30 always love me some crunchy dominant 7th with a m3 in the melody.
The Unown for chord symbols is so charming, if not somewhat difficult to read haha perhaps I need to work on reading unown I definitely feel a bit of Gerudo Valley, but it definitely has its own vibe too… makes me feel like it would be the OST to a PMD and shapez hybrid, I have no idea how that’d play as a game though lmao
@@FiveNineSquared now you make me wonder what a music font based on unown could look like… the possibilities! I’d play Pokémon automation game in a heartbeat, but that may never happen. However, if people can make Pokémon but gun, why not Pokémon but factory?
I love the fact that you show the chords for the song. It makes it so much easier for me to jam to the song with my guitar. Really admire your creativity with the composition.
Damn, finally a remix that's actually a remix and not a reorchestration. And a good one at that. Even with the drastically different rhythm (even signature!) and altered harmony, this manages to keep the original feeling! I love the jazzy harmony, particularly the ascending bases you use throughout the track. That works really well in the part at 02:24 as a bridge from the source material back to the fusion-style. I'm also vibing with the glockenspiel countermelody in 3:50. Also the unown chord symbols are so cool. Do you see yourself remixing some USUM tracks? I feel your style going crazy on something like poni wilds
@@FiveNineSquared Didn't actually expect an answer on a year-old video, but I'm glad to have you considering :D. You never played USUM? I honestly think its the second best main pokemon game after BW2. One way or another, the OST really slaps IMO. It does showcase a large variety of Jazz and even ventures into some electronic stuff. I really enjoy soloing over some of the night themes!
Great Canyon has always been my favourite dungeon track in red rescue team, and this captures what I love about it in a new way,,! This is such an amazing arrangement, every part of it is fun to listen to! I really enjoy the return of pmd Content! But ofc all of your songs never fail to amaze, Just really glad to see the PMD community still bring the master piece of a series up in such an amazing way!
I always loved the chords of Great Canyon! Perfect for an acoustic arrangement for this! Sounds great! I love that you put the chord names in the Unown language 😂
Hello! I'm a big fan of PMD, and I've loved your arrangements ever since finding your Oddity Cave arrangement! This is one of my favorite arrangements from you yet! I'm admittedly a bit curious, do you have any plans to arrange anything from Gates to Infinity? It's my personal favorite PMD game! If not, though, that's ok! Just wondering.
Thanks!! My honest answer regarding GTI arrangements is that I've never played it (and Super), so I resist doing arrangements from those games cos I don't have any context to any of the music. I love the soundtrack from GTI from what I've listened to, don't get me wrong(!), but when I make arrangements I find it hard to get ideas just from the music alone, so the end result might sound a little drier/less inspired. Though once I find the time to do a run-through of the game, I'll for sure start doing GTI on the channel. I know the number of PMD3+ covers are abysmal compared to PMD1/2 and I'd love to add to the PMD3+ library.
I do have the file, though the guitar on chords doesn't have the notes written out in the midi file because it's using the vst's strumming function (youd only be able to see where the chords change)
@@FiveNineSquared ah I see, I'm not familiar with using stuff like that, but it might be good practice to learn/transcribe based on the chords used. I'm particularly interested to hear how it would sound with the PMD2 nylon guitar.
@@boonkunak hm, it might be a lot of work depending on how much you'd need to clean up the midi file, i think. I'll make a midi from the file, let's see whether it seems possible - alright i'm looking at the file and actually the chord guitar part does have the individual notes inside every chord written out but the rhythm isn't always there (the vst allows you to use its own native/internal strumming patterns or you can trigger different strumming using specific notes - i switched between both.) - so I've created a midi, the guitar is a bit tempermental. it exported the *wrong* rhythm only at the start, and in another midi channel too...
@@boonkunak sorry! i edited the comment! you'll probably have to entirely rewrite the strumming, unfortunately. the good thing is the rest of the parts stay relatively intact (the melody guitar might have some excess notes because of how the vst works) www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/y1xqe5rykn1fxqqaah8fg/greatcany-midi.mid?rlkey=gkxsxlra68ibhzkl1t5ysc54k&dl=1

This remix is legit 🔥🔥🔥

Blessed youtube suggestion, I love what you did with this
This sounds so unlike any other pmd remix I've listened to, in the best way possible! I love this!
This is ABSOLUTE BANGERS holy shit
This is so good! Great Canyon has always been a banger and you’ve made it even better! I love how you mixed in Run Away/Parting into it!
Thanks - I was actually thinking of the Farewell theme (since it does happen there) though it's the same motif!

haven't actually played rescue team but this slaps

Is it just me, or are there elements reminiscent of Ecstasy of Gold in this?
Even though I'm not familiar with that, after listening to it I can hear why! It's a canyon. Gotta have that old western flick vibe
Making it acoustic-electronic straight up turns it into a Rimworld track ngl lol
Is this how you force me to play rimworld
