is there anyone else here that actually enjoyed the second predator film as much as the first? i found myself enjoying it even more-so and i felt it was a perfect sequel to an action movie such as predator. It up'd the action, the stakes and the body count. It created a larger setting, introduced new character, weapons for the predator and even went as far as to expand on the mythos of the predator universe (with the skull rack featuring the alien skull and the flyntlock pistol at the end)
You are not the only one. I do enjoy the second film of Predator. It is rather shame that, overall, not all of people like it. I couldn't understand why, because personally, I like the action, and see how would the Predator handle himself in the urban setting instead of the jungle.
Predator 2 is very very similar to the comic that it' based on. It's more cannon than any movie bar the first as it was the same team that worked on it, and writers specifically. That flintlock pistol also has a great backstory that would make a great movie on its own. So annoying that there is an abundance of lore and stories in the comics and not one story, has been touched, bar the one P2 is based on.
I have to say the first one is the best but this one is definitely good, and such a relief after the AVP movies. This movie was a pleasant surprise, the characters were really entertaining to me, sometimes the "stereotypical personalities" are a real failure, but in this it may have been a little goofy sometimes but the dialogue was definitely entertaining. And this movie without a doubt had a good amount of artistic value. However it could have been better, I still think it was a better addition to the Predator franchise than.. Alien 3 and 4 were to the Alien franchise.
I kinda liked alien 3, the setting and characters were great, however alien resurrection, AVP requiem, and predators were all disappointments in my book (predators was OK, but only because of the setting) maybe that's because I've ALWAYS liked Xenomorphs better... (Plus, the alien films were always better)
I would love to see a predator movie that actually looks into their society. It would also be cool to see a predator or even a group of predators on earth hunting down anything they can
I thought it was good. Considering the AvP movies and the predators big game hunter mentality it made perfect sence that the predators would start hunting in a more controled enviroment. Seeing as how they almost introduced a hostile agressive invasive species onto favored hunting grounds thus destroying a prime target species (humans). And losing advanced tech to humans. Then considering the date of the original Alien movie and rate of technological development from precent to then it makes sence that humans had a little help in the power prodution dept. To advance that quickly into interstellar space travel and commerce (the Nostromo was hauling an automated ore processing plant) meaning we had been out there for a while setting up mineing stations and colonies. Imo it all made sence.
I loved the film although, when the Russian fighter was taken out in the film it made me mad because I wanted to see more of him to fight the predator. Damn it! Although the Japanese fighter was a great fighter in the film although the fight ended like the scene form an anime’s samurai fight. Wow!
the multiple races of Predator in this wasn't done for the script,.. it was cannon from comics,.. i believe there are actually 4 not just 2. the largest of which were like 14-16 feet tall. I realllly wish they would give a big budget to a TV 10-12 episode series based on The Deadliest of the Species comic line.. just to straighten out the universe cannon.
What I never understood was the Predator's criteria for their prey. Sure "Most Dangerous People in the World" is a good one, but a serial killer whose proficient in poisons and a prisoner with a reputation hardly seems like entertaining game.
my guess is the predator been observing these human "hunters" for years and selected those they feel most worthy for there hunt. A serial killer to them may be a different kind of hunter giving he blend in and stalk his victim. they had had caught him during one of his outings. actually th is movie doesn't tell us how they select there prey but it clear they are not random
A serial Killer has cunning (at least in the movies, IRL many attacks are spur of the moment, and comes down to luck that they get away with it. for so long, or take advantage of low risk targets, such as prostitutes)
Predator was my favorite movie from the series, It's suspense, brutal kills, and that attached feeling to the characters was brilliant. There has been no other like it, Predator 2 had a semi-good story, I had problems with the gang wars but liked the part with a cop stumbling on government affairs, I hated the comedic parts though, like with the old lady apartment building. AVP movies I had no problem with they just weren't the best. Predators I just didn't feel attached to the characters. 7/10
To add to this being a sequel and not a reboot, she did have a monologue about a group of high-end commandos back in the 80s who also encountered a strange creature that no one could explain that only two survived to tell the tale.
23:52 I think he's taunting Larry. (10 years late, I know, but whatever) and I think it's pretty in character for what is clearly a very egotistical man, although he's no narcissist, he probably wants to flex on this "superior" killer for all the indignation he's had to suffer throughout the movie.
The worst thing in this movie for me was the Predator interspecies conflict. They would have been long extinct like that, considering their habits. But I loved Nutty Morpheus!
Alexandre Martins Disagree, the "dishonest" Predators were far to little to posses a threat. But I agree on NM. He was best and most intereting part of this movie. couldn't he be a main character?
I liked this movie and thought it was a new take after the first 2 (not counting AvP stuff) but one idea I always hope for but never see happen in movies or comics...Have a story told from the Predator's point of view or at least give the Predator backstory, the title is called Predator, yet the story is always about the humans, and honestly humans are so damn boring.I get it, we're suppose to relate to the humans because that's what we are, but here we have awesome badass hunter aliens with fricken lasers and 90% of the stories are about the lame lead bullet shooting humans...I think I made my point, even if it does sound a bit crazy now that I think about it, but I still mean it damn it.
They where on a moon and the first time they looked up the planet wasn't in the sky because the moon is tidally locked to the star not the planet. Also if the rotation is such that it is either 90 degrees from the stellar plane or slow enough it could just be that they are either at a pole or it is tidally locked respectively. I highly doubt it is a brown dwarf though.
How could you tell if you liked it or not its so fucking dark... Other than that my biggest gripe is it probably has the blandest group of characters in any movie ever
The biggest problem I have with this movie is the same one I had with the first two (though less with the first one because the conflict between Predator and Dutch) is that the whole Predator infrastructure is supposed to be Warrior-based and about honorable opponents. The Predators won't bother with anyone they do not deem worthy of combat but then use high tech weaponry to get their trophy. The treatment they get is too much Hunter/prey based when they are supposed to be a Warrior caste culture with honor and courage being all important, which they reveal at the end of the second movie and is proven in AVP.
Yeah I'm actually going to be putting it in a tie with 2 for my favorite. Love the concept. Wish they took advantage of other prey species that could be on the planet. Would love to see a direct sequel.
Wait so a god damn minigun which fires 5000 rounds per a second cant beat predators which they have armor I know but 5000 bullets is more than enough to kill it in one burt since the 1 burst would have fired 100 bullets yeah any predator in front of the gun well lets just say his ass would be grass
Well, Predators doesn't directly take Predator 2 into account for it's events, but technology wise Predators was set during "present day" in 2010, whereas Predator 2 was the future of 1997, released in 1990. I'd say it makes sense that Predators would take place after Predator 2.
Oh man... we named the first predator LARRY about 6 months after the release of the first predator movie.... We find you naming the big one LARRY one hell of a coincidence . Well done late boy even though you realise our brilliance.
Predators was a missed opportunity. They didn’t have to have “Super Predators”, they could have just used the same creature. Adrien Brody (great actor) was a miscast. He even acted as if he wasn’t going to be killed. Tophet Grace shouldn’t have been in this movie, poor actor.
I loved this movie when I saw it in the theaters especially after the let downs of AVP requiem, Terminator 3, Terminator Salvation, Alien 3 basically everything after Aliens
Yes the action was solid and the characters are pretty good but this movie made the Predators look weak. I mean, the Predators here are being portrayed as some spoiled brats with cool weapons and hunting dogs, hunting in their own game preserve, being 'seeded' with game as oppose to going on safari on other planets.
LoL your kidding right? One barely survived against a samurai , the other one was blown up by a huge explosive, and the other destroyed shit..... these predators we're beast.
Heh, I remember when I was watching the sword vs. wristblade fight scene I facepalmed a lot - I used to sword fight professionally, and trust me, any kind of wrist blade/claw thingie is pathetically underpowered compared to any sword - swords have much greater manoeuvrability compared.
I love this film. It has a relentless pace like P2 and P1. When this is on tv, it literally just keeps going. Even the Noland scene doesn't slow it down because it's still very suspenseful. It's a sequel to P1 and P2 but ignores the 2 AVP flicks. There's talk of a Predators 2 Noland Prequel now. Should be awsome as welll.
+Jennifer Moriarty this movie is the shitty copy cat of predator this dont hold a candle compared to it and i was dissapointed by it the first time i saw it i mean yes the action is kinda ok but the first movie is way more belivable and better and the CGI is shit the"dogs" are horrible..
I wonder if the predator would kill a Nun. If the Nun was armed I suppose he would have to. But what about a Nun that was trying to escape. A Nun on the Run if you will.
I enjoyed your review, and don't have anything bad to say, BUT to say this movie was anywhere close to the original Predator is pure asinine. I'm willing to bet there are millions of people who agree with my assessment, as the original was quite the classic. Though naturally, you're entitled to your opinion (as is everyone).
***** Well according to several fans including me, we find the Hish mythos and "Predators" movie an atrocity due to the way Robert Rodriguez impacted the entire franchise. You see, the fans I'm mentioning were very satisfied with how the original Yautja race and franchise were developed. Until the Hish mythos and "Predators" came along... When the Hish mythos was introduced to the franchise, 20th Century Fox and Dark Horse implemented aspects from the Hish mythos. Then Fox and Dark Horse cooperated and rebooted the original franchise into "Fire and Stone." As well as deciding Fire and Stone being the official canon for the AvP mythos. Meaning that everything in the original AvP mythos ranging from the comics, novels, video games, toys, movies are now non-canon. What pisses us fans off more is how there are inconsistencies within Fire and Stone which include the feats as well. Especially if you're an online debater on topics like VS and comic battles, this really hurts your argument if you are using the original AvP franchise. Also there are some AvP/Yaujta aspects that us fans preferred over the Hish mythos. Such as the society of Yautja, biology, honor code, technology, and etc.
***** But the movie is very bad, with terribly-written cliche characters and quite a silly story. The only good passages it has it ripped off the original Predador movies. Good conception, bad execution.
Ya know I’ve had time to think about the reason it seemed like there was only one guy who set up the traps, maybe he had a team with him but the other predators took them all out before they finally managed to get to him making it seem like he had set the traps all on his own
The object in the woods was a crucifix. They were Bad Bloods, criminals, and they took a normal Yautja with them and picked him as the weakest and hung him to be tortured, just as our crucifix's were meant to do(gravity affects the internal organs, basically, they fall out).

For this whole video when listening to the sound clips I was like "I'm sure that's Guru Larry's voice he is using" I was very pleased when I found out I was right. lol Top video!
Still think the first one's the best... My main problems with Predators are the simple fact that is was NOT necessary to add a "new" Predator type/species and that as you mention it has TOO many references to the other movies in the franchise... some references are ok... but not if they take more than half the movie XD.
As a fan of first two movies. I actually enjoyed this movie, and the main character kinda reminded me of Bear Grylls. He had the same haircut, and he his nose is pretty similar to Bear Grylls, and Bear Grylls does mention that he has special forces training. So basically it was like watching Bear Grylls with an American accent surviving being trapped on an alien planet, while being hunted by aliens. Which made me enjoy it even more.
The plant that Edwin identifies as “Archaefructus liaoningensis” has actually been extinct for several million years; its origin lies in the Cretaceous Period. Angiosperm fossils were found in China that are believed to be about 125 million years old, making it the world’s earliest known flowering plant. In an earlier draft of the script, Edwin highlights the plant’s origins, citing it as yet another inexplicable oddity before they finally realize where they are.
On the large part I do agree with you. In fact my biggest problem is the lack of female predators because this would have been such a good opportunity to introduce them. And I would have gotten a real fangasm from that.

You are not the only one. I do enjoy the second film of Predator. It is rather shame that, overall, not all of people like it. I couldn't understand why, because personally, I like the action, and see how would the Predator handle himself in the urban setting instead of the jungle.
I enjoyed Predator 2 as well
Predator 2 is very very similar to the comic that it' based on.
Agreed
Indeed, agreed
I wish we got a continuation of this over the trash that was "the predator"
Yeah, the idea of a predator hunting reserve is awesom!
actually this movie was quite good!
Tamás Fodor about an 8 for me, predator 1 is a 10 and predator 2 was a 7 but at the end it became an 8 or 9.
Senhor Spinelli maybe 7.8
Tamás Fodor I prefer Predator 2 over this crap.
I loved the film although, when the Russian fighter was taken out in the film it made me mad because I wanted to see more of him to fight the predator. Damn it!
Although the Japanese fighter was a great fighter in the film although the fight ended like the scene form an anime’s samurai fight. Wow!
My ratings for the Predator movies so far
Predator: 10/10, I adore this movie
Predator 2: 8/10, I loved this movie
Predators: 7/10, I like this movie
No wonder decker liked this movie, the concept of a Predator hunting reserve is awesome!
Watched this video 400+ times at least in the past 10 years I love you decker
I thought spy kids were a good set of films
Aaron Mackellar first 2 were enjoyably dumb, the rest were just dumb in my opinion
Aaron Mackellar I did too
They are MEH to be honest
It is a good series (minus 4) but I get being annoyed learning a predator movie was directed by the same guy who made Spy Kids😂
I just realized this could have been Machete Kills Again in Space. Danny Trejo should have been the main character!
despite all of its flaws, i really enjoyed the movie.
the multiple races of Predator in this wasn't done for the script,.. it was cannon from comics,.. i believe there are actually 4 not just 2. the largest of which were like 14-16 feet tall. I realllly wish they would give a big budget to a TV 10-12 episode series based on The Deadliest of the Species comic line.. just to straighten out the universe cannon.
I believe that Laurence Fishburne's character was originally meant to be Dutch but Arnold couldn't do it.
Izzabele went to the Prometheus school of backing away from things
What I never understood was the Predator's criteria for their prey.
Sure "Most Dangerous People in the World" is a good one, but a serial killer whose proficient in poisons and a prisoner with a reputation hardly seems like entertaining game.
oh hey..been,,forever
I do wondering about that. But I just figure that it just add more bodycounts to the movie kills.
my guess is the predator been observing these human "hunters" for years and selected those they feel most worthy for there hunt. A serial killer to them may be a different kind of hunter giving he blend in and stalk his victim. they had had caught him during one of his outings. actually th is movie doesn't tell us how they select there prey but it clear they are not random
According to lore the super predators think all prey is the same.
A serial Killer has cunning (at least in the movies, IRL many attacks are spur of the moment, and comes down to luck that they get away with it. for so long, or take advantage of low risk targets, such as prostitutes)
Doom 2005 would make a great review. Comedy gold
Guys can we just recamond good movies for once?
+Preston Downey any Heisei Godzilla movie :D
ha! me too! I love this movie, and not just because Im a Rodriguez fan. Its a badass movie!
Wait...if they fell into the lake...wouldn't all their guns be water logged now so they'd be pretty screwed?
This movie was pretty great too
Predator was my favorite movie from the series, It's suspense, brutal kills, and that attached feeling to the characters was brilliant. 7/10
How do the Predators pull someone's spine and skull out like that?
Your body is attached to it, pretty firmly.
Go Decker Shado you fucking god mate, tell us of the stories of man.
To add to this being a sequel and not a reboot, she did have a monologue about a group of high-end commandos back in the 80s who also encountered a strange creature that no one could explain that only two survived to tell the tale.
Im surprised you didnt talk about how the photo Edwin shows near the end is actually Nikolai's photo.
That might be that Edwin snatched Nikolais photo offscreen as a cheap way to save his own ass, but I don't know.
+League Of Swedish Gaming Considering Edwin's character, that was how it was intended to come off.
HOLY SHIT, I actually didn't know that. That is awesome and typical considering Edwin's character
Turns out this was a better movie than The Predator.
I thought AVP Requiem was better than AVP. Does that make me a bad person? If so I don't care.
whisperienced I think they were both good. Mainly the fact that they both have cool cgi
Requiem was more of a pure slasher-action to me so was slightly more fun to me. Not better just different.
Predators was good, I dont know why they dont make a sequel, I luvd that whle Idea of the blood feud, between the different races of Predator.
Yeah I'm actually going to be putting it in a tie with 2 for my favorite. Love the concept. Wish they took advantage of other prey species that could be on the planet. Would love to see a direct sequel.
Better than the 2018 predator movie.
Larry nooooooooooooo :(
On a serious note, I love this movie, enough character development, action and suspense to make it very enjoyable to watch.
I was pleasently suprised by this movie!
Oh man... we named the first predator LARRY about 6 months after the release of the first predator movie.... We find you naming the big one LARRY one hell of a coincidence . Well done late boy even though you realise our brilliance.
I expected Clyde's name to be dead
Predators was a missed opportunity. They didn’t have to have “Super Predators”, they could have just used the same creature. Adrien Brody (great actor) was a miscast. He even acted as if he wasn’t going to be killed. Tophet Grace shouldn’t have been in this movie, poor actor.
Damn this guy really didn't like this movie ...no one tell him about the predator
Decker you deserve more subs than you have
I loved this movie when I saw it in the theaters especially after the let downs of AVP requiem, Terminator 3, Terminator Salvation, Alien 3 basically everything after Aliens
I like Larry
+tấn phu nguyễn same
Who was the voice that decker used for Larry?
Gury Lary...hes a gaming youtubr
I like the idea that there are different tribes/species of predators that don't get along. Makes since that a warlike culture wouldn't get along
W i s h m a s t e r *you're*
He says 'kill me' to get Larry to run inside the fire circle
I actually loved it more then the second one
ME TOO!!!
I really enjoyed this one to be fair! And really liked the friendship between Nikolai and the scientist guy
2019: it's still the 2nd best in the series!!! Haha
It's the second worst behind The Predator. A pretty awful retread imo
I love the setting, especially that every character is a difrent ''class'', the movie itself is so-so, y say 7.5/10
larry and clyde xD
"Let me answer your question with another question"
"Go fuck yourself"
(Blows him up)
I completely lost it there
is it me or dose berserker have a serious under bite
yes ima fan of the predator franchise
Nick Hendricks
Why are you replying to yourself!?
it answers questions
Nick Hendricks
Really? Cause you haven't gotten one yet.
yes
Heh, I remember when I was watching the sword vs. wristblade fight scene I facepalmed a lot - I used to sword fight professionally, and trust me, any kind of wrist blade/claw thingie is pathetically underpowered compared to any sword - swords have much greater manoeuvrability compared.
Please review Dark City
Man I would have liked to have seen a sequel to this movie rather than the farce we got in 2018 with "The Predator" man that movie sucked.
I saw this movie
ye ?
I love this film. It has a relentless pace like P2 and P1. When this is on tv, it literally just keeps going. Even the Noland scene doesn't slow it down because it's still very suspenseful. It's a sequel to P1 and P2 but ignores the 2 AVP flicks. There's talk of a Predators 2 Noland Prequel now. Should be awsome as welll.
Predators is just a flat out remake of Predator.
It's a sequel, I'm pretty sure they even mention the events of the original.
Armin Reindl Yes they mention it, but it doesn't matter. It is pretty much just a carbon copy, but with more bells and whistles.
+no hassle your a dumbass
+Jennifer Moriarty this movie is the shitty copy cat of predator
this dont hold a candle compared to it and i was dissapointed by it the first time i saw it i mean yes the action is kinda ok but the first movie is way more belivable and better
and the CGI is shit the"dogs" are horrible..
***** why reply if you dont
I wonder if the predator would kill a Nun. If the Nun was armed I suppose he would have to. But what about a Nun that was trying to escape. A Nun on the Run if you will.
I enjoyed your review, and don't have anything bad to say, BUT to say this movie was anywhere close to the original Predator is pure asinine. I'm willing to bet there are millions of people who agree with my assessment, as the original was quite the classic. Though naturally, you're entitled to your opinion (as is everyone).
Adrien Brody is NOT HOT. I can't believe they made his tiny body into a soldier.
Good Review
Predators was a great atrocity to the entire original Yautja race and franchise.
Then Fox and Dark Horse cooperated and rebooted the original franchise into "Fire and Stone."
As well as deciding Fire and Stone being the official canon for the AvP mythos.
Yautjam Predatoe bla bla you are a historian... If old shit was history.
koolz 765 Umm... Am I supposed to be offended?
No dont be offended im just giving you shit lol
Ya know I’ve had time to think about the reason it seemed like there was only one guy who set up the traps, maybe he had a team with him but the other predators took them all out before they finally managed to get to him making it seem like he had set the traps all on his own
The object in the woods was a crucifix. They were Bad Bloods, criminals, and they took a normal Yautja with them and picked him as the weakest and hung him to be tortured, just as our crucifix's were meant to do(gravity affects the internal organs, basically, they fall out).
BRO I SAW THIS WHEN YOU FIRST RELEASED THIS AND IM JUST COMING BACK TO IT I MISSED YOU DECKER SHADO
I am going to be quite busy with Prometheus, but unfortunately I work tonight so I won't be able to make a midnight showing - my plans are a matinee tomorrow, with a reaction video the hopefully will upload by evening and soon after, participation in the Something Cinematic podcast on Prometheus. Oh, and I'm moving soon - and working on the next review.. so many things to do! >_< Thank you for the invitation, though.
For this whole video when listening to the sound clips I was like "I'm sure that's Guru Larry's voice he is using"
I was very pleased when I found out I was right. lol
Top video!
I came to the future to be able to binge more of your videos.
You are really good at these.
Decker from the future sent me here something about a TH-cam algo👍👍
Hey remember Adrian was in the king kong remake which was a very good movie.
They should have made a sequel to this instead of shane black's abomination.
On the large part I do agree with you. In fact my biggest problem is the lack of female predators because this would have been such a good opportunity to introduce them. And I would have gotten a real fangasm from that.
+MsDjessa Imagine Mr. and Mrs. Predator getting it on in the AM, face to face with morning breath. Yikes! And I thought I was the sick one for liking how girls smell after they've been in a moshpit.
Royce rocking that AA12 was just soooo badass
i love the first avp movie. lex was a great character and the team up of human and pred against xeno was fun.
