I don't participate in "track days", I'm a street rider first and a drag racer second. I had no hesitation being the first to order a Z H2 at my dealership and after 2 weeks of ownership I have ZERO regrets!Plus, there's that supercharger "chirp"!
You and me both Steve, no track days for me. But on the street, this bike is the best of the best. Ducati is beautiful. It has arguably top shelf kit. But if I may only use 75-80% of my Z H2, I would not even get to 50% of the Ducati. Realistically, that is meant for the track, not the street. The Z H2 is all about the street. If the Ducati only comes alive @ redline, that's 60-70mph in 1st gear. Who is going to redline 1st gear without annihilating the speed laws on anything other than the freeway on ramp? After redlining 1st gear, slam the gear shifter all the way to 6th gear and just cruise. Boring!! Give me that torque from 4k revs.
@@Onedayilbeok I've owned a few decent bikes at its surprisingly quick in sport mode. The oe slip-on weighs just under 17lbs so once that is replaced, it feels really good. I honestly can't imagine what a reflash will feel like with an additional 60-70whp and 20wtq at rev limit... My goodness
@@A_Ride_To exactly, there are some great gains on that engine, probably just like the H2SX where you can get around 240 at the wheel with just ecu stuff :-)
@@MC-Racing Come on guys, give me a brake, okay? Why do you want to have about 240 HP if the chassis is not even able to manage 150 HP? The Kawa feels like the old American Pony Cars from the 70ies. A lot of power, a lot of torque but with lausy brakes and a handling like a pregnant rattle snake. If you like to use it only on drag strips, okay, have some fun. But for regular use on even bumpy roads forget about this absolutely overpowered bunch of iron. On real roads, the Ducati is driving in circles around the Kawa.
Kawasaki have been smashing it for what 5 plus years now? Remember when all you ever heard of their bikes was "nice engine, shit suspension and ok build quality?" They've come a long way.
Got the kawasaki. Wasn't sold on the looks at first, but its growing on me. And you are right. Its just so much fun to pull out of corners in any gear.
Not for everyone, that zh2 is more impressive design than ducati, also more rare and challenging design than any other hyper naked . Iam Also a designer that's why I am saying, Kawasaki zh2 is fully different than other bikes , their design is not like same design concept of ducati , aprilia/ KTM. It's more sharp , and more air down force than that duacti. Duacti is same like the design of other hyper naked and not rare / special from other bike Companies designs
The reviewer’s argument is very good. Maybe Ducati have gone too hyper? In my opinion the hyper naked are supposed to be the ultimate B-road weapon, not a track day beast. That’s for race bikes. Those who have done any riding know that even a GS can be blistering fast on B-roads. A B-road weapon needs too tackle a lot of different conditions and surfaces. A jack of all trades and master of none, a “multistrada” tool. I have experienced this first-hand with SD 1290 and Tuono. A proper setup the KTM was more fun and faster on real world roads with different surfaces and unknown roads. The Tuono was razor sharp in good conditions but could easily get out of shape on bad surfaces. Superbikes are in real trouble on those roads. I suspect the Tuono and Ducati Streetfighter are in the same category. My guess is that the Ducati Multistrada and BMW S1000XR are the quickest on 90% of B-roads? But it seems Kawa has done a great job with this one. Have to try both 😊
Yeah it's basically, 'Naked Superbike' vs 'Hyper Naked'... Personally, I think the SF was 'relatively' cheap to develop, Ducati themselves see it as a bike for someone who wants a comfy Panigale.... If they get someone who might have gone for a 1290r (my choice) or Kawasaki etc, it's just a bonus.
Hi Dan, I bet you have tested the RR version of the Tuono or a before 2015 model of the Factory. If you would have tried the Tuono Factory from 2018 or even 2019, you would have found out that there es no more refined chassis and damping system like on the Tuono. You can really read the road without being tortured from it's bumps. And the faster you go, the better it gets, like with the Ducati. Even on third category roads, you can go with a high pace and push the bike on the Aprilia. And she stays very handy, stable and neutral. This is something, no other Power Naked was able to beat so far. Neither the KTM nor the Ducati. And I'm sure that you can even beat Multistradas or XRs on B-roads. I've tested the Kawa on bumpy mountain roads within the Alps and I can tell you that Kawa hasn't done a great job according to the handling, the chassis and the brakes. If you push the bike a little harder, it immediately starts to getting nervous and unstable and it's jumping over the bumps. And then you can feel each of the 30+ kg compared to a Tuono or a Super Duke. And because of the jumping tyres, the ABS always starts to work an you loose a lot of breaking power. Not a good feeling, I can tell you. In the end, the Kawa seems to be made for the Drag Strip or moderate speeds on a refined tarmac quality. In every case, it's not a B-road weapon, but a Power Cruiser.
People should really be able to ride their own ride. Are you saying that everybody should be riding sport touring or adventure bikes? New hypernakeds these days are set up for for the street, just look at the suspension and seating position. For people who just want to stay on pavement, a softer tire compound, light weight, and very agile bike would be a lot safer than a GS especially since new nakeds are being packed full of electronics.
I bought the Z1000 H2 yesterday. In Australia there is nearly a $10k difference between the Kawasaki and the Streetfighter S. To me it’s the performance bike bargain of the decade! Looks better in the metal too.
@@peppipeppi51 lmaooo.. You must be referencing people that beat the life out of their h2's not z h2 and h2 sx owners. We are tearing through tires in any way and you're obviously not speaking from first hand experience. Lastly, the Ducati will tear through tires just as fast as it runs a softer compound
Hi Mark, congrats to your new bike! But if you like to compare the Kawa with a more fitting Power Naked, you have to take the KTM 1290 SD-R. The KTM is much more suitable for every day use and if you compare the torque curves, it's even more powerful than the Kawa. What is more, you can even ride the KTM with a higher pace on bumpy roads. And her handling is easier than the Kawa's because of 30+ kg less weight. And finally the fuel consumption of the compressor motor is gigantic compared the the Big Block V2. If you keep that in mind the about 3.000 $ more for the KTM would be really worth it and the design of the KTM is even more harmonic than Kawa's ugly fish design.
Konrad Schmidt-Sibeth I’ve ridden both, still preferred the ZH2. While you are factually correct, motorcycle purchases are sometime made with your heart and not your head. The rear shock will be getting an upgrade before this summer!
Of the two bikes, I think the Ducati is the one lacking in the looks department. I really like the looks of the Kawasaki! Triggers the same emotion as an old muscle car! 😍
That's a very good comparison, Ranjan, because the Kawa is like the old muscle cars: Great torque, very powerful engine, extraodinary fuel consumption and absolutely horrible driving abilities.
Everyday, all year round use: Kawasaki, as an indulgence or extra toy to show off and to enjoy during the summer (if you can afford it) Ducati. I like them both.
The Duc is wearing Stylemas, not the old M4s like the ZH2. If I wanted a superbike, I wouldn't be looking at supernakeds... The whole point of the Streetfighter and bikes like it (Super Duke R, Tuono, S1000R, Brutale 1000) is to get most of the track performance of a superbike in a bike more usable for street use like canyons and commutes. Recommending customers "just buy the Panigale V4 instead" would be absurd even if there wasn't a several thousand dollar premium on the faired bike. The ZH2 makes it clear that it's not competing in the same category with its lower-spec brakes, suspension, and tires paired with 50-80 extra pounds of wet weight. It's much more a street bruiser in the vein of the old Suzuki B-King than it is a performance supernaked like the Streetfighter V4. You guys have been pretty off your game in these Streetfighter videos, IMHO.
Agreed. I traded my Panigale V4 + my Streetfighter 848 in for the Streetfighter V4S. There's a reason for it. The Panigale is brutally uncomfortable on the street but the platform is awesome. A more useable version is exactly what I wanted and what most of the "hypernaked" market wants. The Z H2 is a whale with far inferior components. Sounds like these guys may as well get a cruiser if all they're concerned with is low end torque on a heavy bike that won't make it to the track. Totally missing the point of this segment.
You absolutely nail it, my friend! The reason for the creation of the Power Naked category has been to translate Super Bike feeling into a much more every day use form with seat position that can be considered humane. If you ask me, the Kawa is playing within the complete wrong category. It's a relatively simple equipped Power Cruiser that can be compared to the Ducati Diavel or the new Triumph Rocket 3. It's not a Power Naked and especially not a Hyper Naked, even if it has 200 HP. From my perspective, we have two different classes of Power Naked bikes: 1. Super Nakeds these are bikes with the classical Power Naked virtues like high midrange torque, stable and light chassis, good brakes and race track abilities. Within this category, I see the Aprilia Tuono Factory, the KTM 1290 SD-R, the BMW S1000 R and the Yamaha MT-10 SP. 2. Hyper Nakeds these are race-track oriented bikes with over 200 HP and a high rpm concept. They are designed for people that are using the bikes frequently on race tracks. They don't have such a midrange power and torque and aim to absolute maximum power at highest rpm. Within the category are only two bikes now: the Ducati SF V4 and the MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RR.
both superb, the factor will always be on the preference of the buyer... love the kerb weight of the streetfighter, while the torque on the ZH2 is insane..
Excellent review, Kawasaki ZH2 as its completely made from Ground Up to be a proper Super Naked. Japanese Bikes are easy to work on for Maintenance, more Reliable Platform, & Kawasaki has a vast experience apart from Motorcycle as well & therefore Reliable & Cost effective.. I would agree if u want a Track Bike, Go for Panigale rather than Street Fighter. If u want an All Rounder, ZH2 IT IS.
Well, that might be true if you are using the Kawa as a Power Cruiser or only in the city and on roads with good tarmac quality. If you want to go to curvy roads or to the mountains and have a little bit more sports oriented pace, hands off the Kawa, even it is relatively cheap. This Z H2 consists of an interesting, powerful motor and the rest is crap. No allrounder.
Definitely get ZH2, as an previous owner of Ducati and Yamaha, I'd say go Japanese bike all the way, reliable and cheap to maintenance. ZH2--$17K, Streetfighter v4s(I don't think anyone will buy regular version of V4)---$24K. Huge differences in price. Extra 7k will give you tons of gears/mods to the bike, plus a lot of trackday fees.
As an owner of multiple Ducatis (including a Panigale V4) and a H2SX... "Reliable and cheap to maintain", Anything with "H2" in the model name... Pick one. The supercharged Kawis are more maintenance-intensive than the current-gen Duc superbikes and the $20k base streetfighter is a much closer comparison as it ditches the electronic ohlins for a traditional showa BPF system. They're still different bikes with different target audiences. The duc is a premium product with all the latest tech designed to give you slightly more street-friendly superbike performance. The ZH2 is a purpose-built hyper naked that goes really fast in a straight line whenever you whack the throttle open. As for track time, I would wager most people that could afford to bin a $17k bike at the track could probably afford to do so with a $20k bike as well. Unless you're obsessed with lap times (in which case, why are you tracking a naked?), you might as well just buy whichever bike puts the biggest smile on your face.
You can spare the money for the track days because the Kawa is absolutely crap on the track. I'd rather suggest the KTM 1290 Super Duke R 3.0 for you. This bike also has lots of torque, is very reliable and with about $19K not as expensive as the Ducati. And you will have a lot more fun if you are going on a sporty pace because it handles much more precise and easier than the Kawa and can be used even on bumpy roads. What is more, the KTM is not as ugly as the Kawa. But this is in the eye of the beholder.
These bikes are both stupendous. This is the golden age. But, a huge part of the ownership experience is the reliability and overall cost of ownership (not just money, but time and frustration as well). The ZH2 is the only real choice if you actually plan on riding the damn thing whenever you feel like it. Who in their right mind wants to trade road time for shop time?!
That closing statement was spot-on. Which also makes both bikes look like they make no sense for what they should be?.. a comfortable & easy to ride bike for public roads and nothing else 🤷♂️
ZH2 looks better in person, and I’ve never had more compliments on anything I’ve driven before. It feels so nimble for a heavier bike and still just getting used to it.
Btw, i would like Yamaha to make the next Mt10 in 2 various options, one naked and the second one with kind of semi-fairing, with integrated mirrors on the front fairing (hate mirrors on handlebars) And of course continued with the crossplane crankshaft. Just adore the sound of the engine.
Ducati is too expensive (not for what you get but for the normal rider's bank balance) ... and it does not take real world riding into account. Who rides red line on the roads to get to top torque? Make torque available much sooner and forget about the blistering top speeds...
Got to agree, basically the same components as a Tuono. Same suspension and brakes, V4 1100, aluminium frame and same electronics (Bosch). Tuono has a fairing for a bit of wind protection as well. Tuono is a handful at 160+mph because of wind force even with the diddy fairing and I doubt if you could hang on to the Duke at those speeds without gripping the bars too tight so what's the point of 200+ bhp? Tuono is also £14k as opposed to £21k and the Akra is £800 including flash for the Tuono and nearer £5k for the Duke and it still sounds like a dump truck. Like for like, metal for metal the Duke is terrible value.
That's the Ducati Monster, what they wanted to do here is a sport bike that could act like a street bike when needed, so you could get to destiny without annoying back and wrist soreness.
The Ducati is beautiful, no question. A race bike without fairing. I definately go for the Kawa for everyday use. Soft as a lamb, rude as Godzilla, just as you like. I would go for the Panigale when focusing on fast laps on the racetrack. As a allround naked Bike, the Kawa wins all day.
Exactly! The Z H2 wasn't designed to be a track weapon. Besides how many riders actually do track days vs riders that enjoy riding on the street? Wonder how the two compare at an official drag strip?
I don't think that the Kawa is a really the better allrounder. The Ducati has the better and more comfortable seat position, her chassis offers more riding comfort and the handling is much lighter and much more precise and stable than with the Kawa. The Ducati is even working at a faster pace and on bumpy roads, where the Kawa chassis immediately reaches it's boundaries. And you can feel the 40+ kg on the Kawa in alternating curves. If you have to rank with your feet on the bike or try to park it, you will be even happier with the Ducati. The Ducati brakes are more refined than the Kawasaki's and the ABS and the whole electronics are working better on dry and wet conditions. All these qualities do really count in every day use. So, where's the great benefit of the Kawa except from the better midrange power? Have a look at the acceleration in the 6th gear. There's no big difference between both bikes. Okay, the co-driver might be sitting more comfortable, but that's it, folks.
I got me a ZH2 as my first naked bike I am blown away. Granted you can feel it is being held back by emission. That being said another 2500 bucks is average price to delete that on any bike.
I’d seriously look at the Kawasaki except for the looks...yuk. I’ve seen one in real life and the muffler and the front end look awful, and no matter how good the bike is, it’s got to look good in my opinion. I’ll stick with my Z900RS even though it only has half the power.
This comparison is a farce if you don't include the Tuono and SD, which arguably have been said to be better than either of these in terms of real world power, handling.
Love both of them, but the ktm 1290 super duke r seems to put a bigger smile on our faces, with that amazing 1300cc V2 engine! Can I ask you something? Do a head to head on all big adventure bikes, considering only their most tarmac oriented versions, like bmw s1000xr VS ktm 1290 super adventure s VS ducati multistrada 1260 s VS any other mighty big adventure bike out there on the market! Pretty please! Thanks in advance!
Now we need a comparison with the MV Brutale 1000RR. Also a brutal bike with 208 bhp. They don’t have traditional wheelie control where the settings determine how far up the front wheel goes, but they have front lift control where it focuses on giving you the maximum acceleration instead of wheelie height.
I felt exactly the same - why not just get Panagale instead of V4? Panagale is pretty mundane on the street for everyday ride - it only was good when we took it to Willows Springs track here in LA...ended up selling it. I truly miss Ducati 748/998 days when Ducati really made bikes that will perform on the street as well as on track.
Great video, thanks. But.... I feel that marking down the Street Fighter because of how it compares to the Panaigale has completely nothing to do with the comparison between the ZH2 and SF.
These are both remarkable motorcycles. And both overpriced lol. Of the two, the Ducati is really only for people who want a track day bolide, and it is magnificent for that. The Kawasaki is a far better all round motorcycle, and it doesn't need anything more than a smooth in line 4 with decades of proven reliability behind it, and a superhcarger to give performance 90% of riders won't even touch. I think the reviewer hit the nail on the head with his summary.
Even if the SF V4S has much less midrange power than the Z H2, she is much more fun to ride as the Kawa. I've tested both and the Ducati doesn't even feel as weak below 10.000 rpm and is much, much, much more fun to drive on every kind of road with a sporty pace. With the Ducati, you can drive in circles around the Kawa on second category or curvy roads. The Kawa is only interesting if you don't want to spend too much money for a 200 HP motorcycle that usable for power cruising. Nothing more and nothing less.
Awesome guys... My ideal test would be these 2 bikes plus the new Superduke R and the Aprilia V4 Tuono. Im in the market but looking mostly at the Tuono and V3 Beast!
On the street torque rules all day long. On the track sure the Duc will walk away but how many people ride on the track? If I was to buy a naked super bike it would be the Z H2 every day of the week.
I think it comes down to; what are you going to use the bike for, as you rightly point out. Everyday use the Kawasaki, if you are one of those people who likes track days and are able to afford a toy like the Ducati, go for that one. But why would you you go for a naked and not a sports bike if you go on track days ? I probably would because I have a bad knee and I am not a spring chicken anymore I just don't have a spare £20 grand in my bank account.
You are right, torque is one of the most important features of a Power Naked bike. But it's not all you need. What you need most if you want to have every day fun on all kinds of roads is refined and harmonic chassis with fine brakes. Which the Kawa doesn't have. I you'd like to have a real power house for every day use, there is nothing the KTM 1290 Super Duke 3.0, period. Her chassis works pretty good even on bumpy roads, her handling is much lighter and more precise and because of the more active seat position, you have a much better feeling for the front wheel. And if you push hard with the KTM the fuel consumption is about 7,0 liters/100 km and on the Kawa you have about 11 liters at the same speed.
@@kssi488 it doesnt matter, you buy what you can afford and what is best for you the ktm 1290 is a crappy bike doesnt fit the mould it is not a good allrounder, if you buy this type of bikes you dont look at fuel consumption that doesnt matter if you can afford one then you can pay for its fuel aswell if you drive like a maniac all the time then surely you are going to pay for fuel at the end you as a person buy what is more appealing to you and what you like not what another person likes not everyone is hunting down a bike that handles like a superbike around corners or one that handles great in the mountains etc.. if you want a ktm 1290 go buy yourself one and leave other people likes in bikes alone
@@hannogrove4639 I won't by a 1290 Super Duke R 3.0 because this one's a step back from the 2.0. And I've already had 3 Super Duke models. I've decided on the brand-new Triumph 1200 Street Triple RS because I'm sure that this bike is a lot better than the Kawa, the Duc AND the KTM. But a regular road bike for people who drive a little bit sportier, the KTM might be a perfect match. The Ducati takes too much fuel and the chassis of the Kawa is not refined for sporty drives on bumpy roads. But if you'd like to have something like a Power Cruiser for easy use and with a lot of force, the Z H2 might be the perfect match for you either. It all depends on your personal expectations.
With an ecu flash the Kawa will go up to 250 whp.......just like what Brock did with the H2 SX.........Ducati once again lying about their power output...dyno figues show around 182whp.....the usual bs story with Ducati
I may be one of the few people that thinks that the Streetfighter looks just as good if not better than the Panigale.... but I would love to see more low end torque from the Ducati line. I just can’t justify a ZH2 over its rival.... thanks for the video!!!
Had a first gen super duke, all aggressive street riding, easy wheelies, scary acceleration is what I loved that being said what would you recommend new 2020 super duke or zh2?
If u has the 1st generation duke, don t get the last one . But don t go for ducati neither . For you i guess tuono would be better. But nothing better than try
Makes no sense buying another sdr because you already own one. The tuono is an amazing bike but its track inspired like the sf v4. I'd opt for the z h2 or maybe even a well maintained/well priced used s1kr as they can be had for a great price right now
Definitely the SD-R 3.0 If you already loved the 1st generation of the Beast, you will now find it very refined almost to reference. Every fault of the 1st generation has been cured and the new one has much more power. But the greatest difference is the chassis. You can now push it hardly even on bumpy roads without getting nervous. The handling is more precise and front wheel oriented than before. And the motor is running smoother with less vibrations and you can start from lower rpm, even 2500 without being smashed by the chain. Please forget about the ugly Z H2. Compared to the Beast, this one's a Power Cruiser like the Ducati Diavel. And a gasoline guzzler compared to the KTM.
What is a "supernaked from the ground up"? Isn't a super naked by definition a "naked sportbike", aren't they traditionally made by taking bits off a sportbike and adding a more comfortable set of bars? So there's one thing that I wonder about... Ducati has active torque control limiting the shenanigans of the bike in (I believe) first through fourth gear... it's a feature that certainly will help keep the bike settled at the track but I wonder if it's removing some of the soul of the machine as most Ducati fans who've ridden both consider the 1098 SFS with 50 fewer horsepowers to be a more "crazy" supernaked than the v4 SF.
It depends what kind of rider you are. If you are not bothered by HP and speed then a 600cc is more than plenty for commuting and daily use. When you like a bit "progress" you might want a more powerful bike. I got a Z900 which is nice for the daily commute and it has enough HP to make you smile on a sunny Sunday afternoon ride.
#Visordown Motorcycle Videos i want to ask you something, i have seen some videos of streetfighter v4s, one guy goes more than 300kmh but we cant see this speed in the dashboard ? can we fix this ??
I think that you're missing the point. The Streetfighter is a Panegale for the road, it's almost as fast but so much more comfortable and the wind in your face stops you doing 'Go to jail!' speeds.
Lighter, easier too handle, better electronics . You never mentioned counter rotating crank in the Ducati for easier handling response and NOT a generic in line 4. I like your reviews but could have done better on this one. I have ridden both, Ducati hand down. IT better be for the additional money. Ride safe everyone.
Besides the fancy suspension, what electronics are better with the duc vs the ZH2? ZH2 has 4 way traction control, abs, 3 power modes, lean angle sensors, boost sensors, cruise control, blue tooth, etc.
Great comparison! And I liked that you said you could just as well get the Panigale, with some tweaks to the ecu and a new exhaust the ZH2 will also leave the Duc in the dust
I like the Kawi but I've read that with the supercharger if you have too much oil in the engine and the crankshaft aerates the oil you'll end up burning oil which causes a drop in octane and can cause catastrophic engine failure from early detonation
Bit suprised with your comment of "If you want a Supernaked for the road choose the ZH2 "with no mention of the Tuono V4 and the new Superduke. I know they werent part of this test so perhaps you would have been better to say the Kawasaki is the better road bike of the 2 on test? Im in the market for a new super naked and will be trying all 4 before i lay my money down.
Nothing to prove owned a SuperDuke and recently tested the ZH2. The Kawi in his opinion is the better bike. It matches the KTM for low down grunt [but is far smoother and more refined] but once you get to 5 grand on the tacho the ZH2 clears off.
I have a modded 17 sd GT and just bought the Z H2. Waiting for pickup on wed, but I had a test ride. My super duke feels faster except for the very top of the tach. There just seems to be more shove to the SD. That wont be the story for long once I flash the Z. What got me was how smooth the engine was. No vibes what so ever. If I had to pick between the 2020 SDR and the Z H2 it would be very tricky.....oh and I will keep my SD forever.
You failed to mention one of the main reasons behind why we choose a bike...the way its looks! The streetfighter looks like a supermodel and the ZH2 looks like a Russian shot putter! It might we cheeper, but i wouldn't sit in my garage at night with a cuppa looking at it like i do my new streetfighter!
I just don't get 200 BHP naked bikes, I mean as Clint Eastwood might have said, "At top Speed , they'll blow your head clean OFF" . 200 BHP needs a fairing, if you want to use the 200 BHP.
I am sure the Kawasaki is the better bike all round but it is Fugly. You wouldn't walk into your garage and get excited when you look at it, whereas you would with the V4. So it's down to aesthetics against practicality and price.
The ZH2 is a muscular looking bike with definite street presence and attitude. It's the "HULK" of naked bikes (especially with the green famed version). The HULK wouldn't be considered handsome, but it sure is muscular and bad ass!
Guys, to be honest: Were are the benefits of the Kawa compared to the Ducati even in every day use? There is only the midrange power of the compressor motor and a more comfortable seat position for the co-pilot. And that's all. I all other categories, the Ducati wins by far. With her more active and more comfortable seat position, the Ducati offers a much better feeling for the front wheel. The brakes of the Ducati are much more refined and the ABS is working much better. All electronical systems are working more smoothly than on the Kawa. If we are talking about handling qualities, the SF V4S is worlds apart from the Z H2. She runs pretty stable, light and precise compared to the Kawa. Even at a higher pace on bumpy or very curvy roads, the Ducati can offer a good rest of comfort and high stability, where the Kawasaki immediately reaches her boundaries. Both bikes are not very economic but even here the Kawasaki has a higher fuel consumption if you are using the power frequently. The Ducati is pretty much easier to handle if you want to rank or park it. So, which one is the better allrounder for single and sports oriented drivers, which bike is absolutely more fun in every day use? Exactly: the Ducati 1100 Streetfighter V4S. If you are looking for a Power Cruiser like the Ducati Diavel or the Triumph Rocket 3, the Kawasaki Z 1000 H2 might also be taken into consideration. But in the Power Naked class, the Kawa definitely finishes on the last position because of the less worthy components, the heavy weight and the less stable chassis.
Excellent video and even more interesting review. I was going to trade in my V4S for a SF, but I test rode the KTM SUPERDUKE AND it blew me away. Also getting a SF in the UK your probably waiting till autum unless they get lots of cancellation of orders due to Global economy. For the road the Superduke is simply unbeatable, although I have not rode the Kawasaki. Be great to see a review of the superduke etc
This feels like my children fighting, and I am supposed to pick a side. Got both a Kawasaki and a Ducati in my garage. No, not these two: a Versys 1000 and a Desert Sled.
You would think Ducati would have it figured out by now since they were one of the first to produce a naked sports bike with their monster.....It is all about simplicity and user friendly which the Kawasaki has and I might add the SDR has with all of its rider modes!
Thanks for the top review, at my riding level and mostly Road at that the Kawasaki is the obvious choice based on price alone, pick it up on Tuesday and can’t wait!!!! Akrapovic pipe on order too!!!
I think the regular H2 is a fun bike but the SFV4 is much more a piece of exotica and I think that what will attract a lot of buyers (myself included), even if the price is high. However, it’s a bargain next to a Panigale being four grand less in either trim, and that will speak volumes for sales.
I don't participate in "track days", I'm a street rider first and a drag racer second. I had no hesitation being the first to order a Z H2 at my dealership and after 2 weeks of ownership I have ZERO regrets!Plus, there's that supercharger "chirp"!
How fast is it?
I rode once an H2 belong to my friend, I like it so much. I believe that Z H2 will be so exciting as well..
@@Onedayilbeok the important question.
My goodness
Kawasaki all day. torque matches a naked much more than outright power, and then the price.
And surpercarged 🤤
And if the ZH2 is anything like the H2 there is lots of power to gain via simple ECU Tuning
@@kssi488 not even close
The front end of that Kawi is so dang hideous tho... like... who signed off on that??
Yeah I somewhat agree however I reckon it would look better in the flesh.
I love it...
but then again, it is unfair to compare kawi design with ducati lmao
Kawasaki have been smashing it for what 5 plus years now? Remember when all you ever heard of their bikes was "nice engine, shit suspension and ok build quality?" They've come a long way.
Well, to be honest, it has stayed like that. Nice motor and the rest is really crap!
I think I'm warming to the looks of the Kawasaki and I know it would be cheaper to own than the Ducati, as lovely as it is.
Finally! I can decide which bike to ride in my daydreams. It's the Z H2. Thanks Visordown for featuring my comment in your video!
Good choice! Thanks for watching
Got the kawasaki. Wasn't sold on the looks at first, but its growing on me. And you are right. Its just so much fun to pull out of corners in any gear.
The Ducati is just gorgeous though.
It's a hard decision
Where in Aus did you order it? I'm struggling to find a dealer that can give me any info
Tim Goldsmith Peter Stevens Ringwood, Vic.
Beauty is in the eyes of beholder, but you’re still in minority 😊
@Ranjan Harris Agreed. Looks different from anything else out. I dig the looks of the Kawi.
That's a very good comparison, Ranjan, because the Kawa is like the old muscle cars:
Great torque, very powerful engine, extraodinary fuel consumption and absolutely horrible driving abilities.
From my perspective, we have two different classes of Power Naked bikes:
1. Super Nakeds
these are bikes with the classical Power Naked virtues like high midrange torque, stable and light chassis, good brakes and race track abilities.
Within this category, I see the Aprilia Tuono Factory, the KTM 1290 SD-R, the BMW S1000 R and the Yamaha MT-10 SP.
2. Hyper Nakeds
these are race-track oriented bikes with over 200 HP and a high rpm concept. They are designed for people that are using the bikes frequently on race tracks. They don't have such a midrange power and torque and aim to absolute maximum power at highest rpm.
Within the category are only two bikes now: the Ducati SF V4 and the MV Agusta Brutale 1000 RR.
2020 Superduke r vs. Ducati V4 Street fighter?
in a shootout between those two, the Tuono wins
The zh2 is any 6'6 mans dream bike. The only bike I could sit on and not have to fold my knees. Can't wait to afford one.
both superb, the factor will always be on the preference of the buyer... love the kerb weight of the streetfighter, while the torque on the ZH2 is insane..
Thanks for watching!
@@kssi488 sounds like you have never ridden one
Which is good ?in city drive and long drive only. Zh2 or V4s?
Agree, I think that the Ducati will turn out very delicate and might break down a bit quicker than the Kawasaki.
Super Duke R, “Come on, let’s play!”
Kawi and duc, looking in the side mirror, "did the Duke break again?"
Too many issues with KTM's.
Absolutely 100%
Boz owned the last three, zero issues
8 years with my Superduke 990, not a single issue. Guess I was just lucky.....
That closing statement was spot-on. Which also makes both bikes look like they make no sense for what they should be?.. a comfortable & easy to ride bike for public roads and nothing else 🤷♂️
Ummm H2SX
ZH2 looks better in person, and I’ve never had more compliments on anything I’ve driven before. It feels so nimble for a heavier bike and still just getting used to it.
We need Yamaha to bring out a completely new MT10 and please for God's sake Yamaha make it pretty!😫 The same goes to you BMW with the new S1000R!👍
Could be another one "transformer"
They need to fix the gas mileage on the MT10. Only con imo.
Btw, i would like Yamaha to make the next Mt10 in 2 various options, one naked and the second one with kind of semi-fairing, with integrated mirrors on the front fairing (hate mirrors on handlebars) And of course continued with the crossplane crankshaft. Just adore the sound of the engine.
the new s1000r is using f900r headlight
Steve Smith Kawa will win at the drag strip I pretty sure, for sure if you get Brock to make it have 260 who like he has done to the SX!
Very nice! This helped me decide on my next bike. I wanted the Ducati but will buy the Kawasaki once this Covid clears up.
Thanks!
Yes, that's the whole point of "these kinds" of reviews.
It looks like a frog
@@sureshadaveni7716 v4 looks like a mantis

I got me a ZH2 as my first naked bike I am blown away. Granted you can feel it is being held back by emission. That being said another 2500 bucks is average price to delete that on any bike.
I’d seriously look at the Kawasaki except for the looks...yuk. I’ve seen one in real life and the muffler and the front end look awful, and no matter how good the bike is, it’s got to look good in my opinion. I’ll stick with my Z900RS even though it only has half the power.
You can still go for the Kawa z1000. Looks a lot better than the zH2 and still plenty of bike for the road.
Totally happy with my Z900RS, road use it's all I could ever want
This comparison is a farce if you don't include the Tuono and SD, which arguably have been said to be better than either of these in terms of real world power, handling.
Zh2 all day long! I’m no track rider and don’t want Ducati servicing cost and reliability problem
ZH2 is like the heavy set woman first in line at the buffet line. The Ducati is the curvy blonde in red heels:)
Super duke R vs street fighter v4 vs z H2 ???
Thanks for the comparison! I'm looking forward to the group tests!
Hopefully soon!
2020 super duke R?
Thank you for sharing this real world perspective where it isn’t all just about fast lap times! Cheers.
Thought the Ducati has Stylemas not M4s? 🤔
It has.
He's right. Street bike h2 it's mind blowing had a ride today love it. I'm buying one.
Great video, thanks. But.... I feel that marking down the Street Fighter because of how it compares to the Panaigale has completely nothing to do with the comparison between the ZH2 and SF.
And then the zed goes to Brocks and for a couple hundred bucks comes out with 250 easy hp...
Please make a comparison video of KTM 1290 Super Duke R vs Ducati Streetfighter V4 S
noted!
Add the 2020 Tuono. All these bikes exist because of the Tuono and how good it is. It’s the king naked for a reason.
The ZH2 torque with the beauty of a Ducati would be perfect...
With an ecu flash the Kawa will go up to 250 whp.......just like what Brock did with the H2 SX.........Ducati once again lying about their power output...dyno figues show around 182whp.....the usual bs story with Ducati
I'm wondering which to buy
Tested both bikes Zh2 all day OMG what a bike love it and looks brute in person.
Do either of these machines have cruise control?
The most awaited comparison !
Somehow I expected the comparison to be a little more detailed than it actually is.
I may be one of the few people that thinks that the Streetfighter looks just as good if not better than the Panigale.... but I would love to see more low end torque from the Ducati line. I just can’t justify a ZH2 over its rival.... thanks for the video!!!
Thanks for watching!
Any idea on say 3 yr say 6k miles/year servicing and running costs?
Paused the video as soon as it started playing and jumped straight into comments.. lol
I'd opt for the z h2 or maybe even a well maintained/well priced used s1kr as they can be had for a great price right now
Definitely the SD-R 3.0
If you already loved the 1st generation of the Beast, you will now find it very refined almost to reference.
@@hnic72 1st gen 1290 has been gone for awhile don't own one at the moment.
The Z H2 is logically the better choice for sure as are most Japanese bikes in general but that Ducati looks so much better
The Ducati just has that fit and finish with style to match. The Kawi is nice but that V4 soundtrack....not much compares.
Inline four with a supercharger, and that "chirp" easily trumps a V4 sound!
The Ducati V4 doesn’t even sound like a V4. Sounds like an L-Twin

As always fantastic review. What do you recon is the best street 600cc motorbike for daily riding?
It depends what kind of rider you are. If you are not bothered by HP and speed then a 600cc is more than plenty for commuting and daily use. When you like a bit "progress" you might want a more powerful bike. I got a Z900 which is nice for the daily commute and it has enough HP to make you smile on a sunny Sunday afternoon ride.
That would be an SV650!
#Visordown Motorcycle Videos i want to ask you something, i have seen some videos of streetfighter v4s, one guy goes more than 300kmh but we cant see this speed in the dashboard ? can we fix this ??
Another great video! Can't wait for you guys to get both bikes and road test them both!

What about ktm vs ducati bs kawasaki.please make a video
Proud owner of the 2020 ZH2!
Great comparison! And I liked that you said you could just as well get the Panigale, with some tweaks to the ecu and a new exhaust the ZH2 will also leave the Duc in the dust
Thank you!
I like the Kawi but I've read that with the supercharger if you have too much oil in the engine and the crankshaft aerates the oil you'll end up burning oil which causes a drop in octane and can cause catastrophic engine failure from early detonation
Good comparison, bro. I like the Kawi more. Their bikes are hi-performance and reliable, yet affordable.
Totally agree
I want both bikes but my income 0 rupees

Good review I would really like to see the 890Duke v Street Triple RS
Good call
Kawasaki all the way! And the Duc is nice!
@@fyorbane His was a gen 1 super duke. The 2020 is quite different. On the dyno the gen 3 is producing about 15 more HP.
Great work mate. And I really liked your review about both bikes.
Love it! I want to upgrade from my z900 to the ZH2 but the insurance jump for me is like paying for a brand new Z900 hahaha
Thank you! 👽
Exactly what I thought! Great simple review
Thanks for watching!
I just don't get 200 BHP naked bikes, I mean as Clint Eastwood might have said, "At top Speed , they'll blow your head clean OFF" . 200 BHP needs a fairing, if you want to use the 200 BHP.
Except you don’t need 120 mph to use 200hp...
How about zh2 or MT 10 SP?
Guys, to be honest:
Were are the benefits of the Kawa compared to the Ducati even in every day use?
Thank you for the great video!
I prefere the Ducati 100 times......a new v4 , look stunning, different than other naked bike.
Nice review 👏👏👏👍
I don’t know about kings of the hyper naked category. New superduke or tuono top 2 easily
This feels like my children fighting, and I am supposed to pick a side. Got both a Kawasaki and a Ducati in my garage. No, not these two: a Versys 1000 and a Desert Sled.
Zh2 vs. KTM 1290 vs. Tuono
we will try!
If I'm looking for which of those I'm gonna buy, I have way too much money from the start, I'll take the Ducati, Ferrari of the Moto world all day
You would think Ducati would have it figured out by now since they were one of the first to produce a naked sports bike with their monster.....It is all about simplicity and user friendly which the Kawasaki has and I might add the SDR has with all of its rider modes!
Great vid, could you do a head to head with the cb1000r against other retro 1000cc bikes
Sure, why not! Thanks for watching
i hope you do a video on WSBK racebikes and what's their difference with their standard road going motorbike (Y)
We made a WSBK comparison video last week: th-cam.com/video/HeHCG3Fclv4/w-d-xo.html
geez, i missed that one hehe.. thanx.. ill watch it later..
Thank you!
Excellent video 👍
Thank you very much!
So basically streetfighter v4 is a streetbike that is made for tracks?
Wow that kawi is one ugly bike imo and it needs to loose some weight.
Thanks for the top review, at my riding level and mostly Road at that the Kawasaki is the obvious choice based on price alone, pick it up on Tuesday and can’t wait!!!! Akrapovic pipe on order too!!!
Excellent review, Kawasaki ZH2 as its completely made from Ground Up t be a proper Super Naked.
Waiting for a comparison including these: Super Duke, Street Triple, MT09, Brutale
We will try
I think the regular H2 is a fun bike but the SFV4 is much more a piece of exotica and I think that what will attract a lot of buyers (myself included), even if the price is high. However, it’s a bargain next to a Panigale being four grand less in either trim, and that will speak volumes for sales.
The Ducati is prettier and sounds better though! Great review
