This brings back childhood memories of sledding. We didn’t want to go home until our mittens were caked with wet snow, our toes were blocks of ice, and we ran out of sleeves to wipe our noses on! Love this little scene. And seems so simple to do. Looking forward to trying it. Thanks Ellen!
Thank you for this video, Ellen! I have been watching you for years, and I really enjoy your work! I have copied a few of your pieces and had so much fun! This one wasn't as hard as I thought it might be! I still consider myself a beginner, since I've had no formal training and lack natural skill. Thanks again!
I’m running late with my Christmas cards this year, but I know I can always count on a (relatively) quick, adorable winter scene from you, that always turns out so, so adorable. My kids are always duly impressed. I tell them to check out Ellen! Thanks again for another easy-to-follow, giftable little painting!
I like the way the two tree shadows make it look like snow shelf's, adds a lot of interest. I'll be trying this. I don't have arches but maybe if my brush is pretty dry it will work out okay
I am currently on cloud 9! For the first time ever I have been able to paint people. I followed your tutorial and while it’s not exactly like your version it’s pretty close. Thank you for explaining things clearly. Your videos are easy to follow.
These are lovely! 😊 I always try to make my own Christmas cards I find them so much fun. At the moment I'm obsessed with splattering white paint to make snow. My cards don't feel complete without it 😂
Love your work Ellen! I enjoy your free spirit, your “you can do this”attitude and your amazing teaching style. I have just tried three of your Christmas card designs and I am so thrilled with them, thank you! With so many tutorials out it’s always hard to pick who to follow but since finding your channel, I find myself constantly drawn to your content and easy to follow tutorials! Thank you again, I know how tough it is to keep things fresh, do the painting and all the editing that goes into producing these clips. ❤
Just love your videos, Ellen! Your're so real and authentic and absolutely talented! And your ability to teach...incredible! Thank you for sharing your expertise with us!
Such a beautiful card! I've been going back through your channel to see all your techniques, thank you so much for sharing. I can't wait to try this. Have a wonderful Christmas and a blessed New Year to come.
Do you ever use the 6x9” art to get printed? When I take it to the copy center to have cards made I’m told the sizing is off enough that it creates extra space on one end. Not sure how to rectify that.
I love this for my next card - can't figure out patreon even tho bee accepted - followed the prompt on my phone and msybe I need to get to computer -- 2 ads came on and not the other picture I hoped to get. Sorry to bother you Ellen - wondering if anyone else has problem!
Everything going well until I attempt the snow. It comes out like blobs. Too much water or not enough. Not sure. This is going to take practice. Good teaching video. Thank you.
Ellen, can I ask what tape you use around your paper? I used masking tape and it tore the surface of the paper so need something less sticky! And I was about to join your Patreon channel yesterday but noticed it's only for watercolour tutorials and I love your acrylics too. Do you have a channel for acrylics or just watercolour as I'd like to do both? Thank you. LOVE your work by the way. So inspiring X
Try an in person workshop. I'm autistic. I had a good teacher in high school. The paper & paint really makes a difference. Watercolor is the easiest medium because it does all the work. You just have to learn to let it do it's thing. Kristy Rice, Liz Chadwrton do good refresher basics as do the urban sketching channels. Learn from various masters if you're a beginner trying to find your groove as a beginner. Don't give up. If I can master it, anyone can. 😂 I love Ellens style. She's a great teacher & talented artist. Every teacher has a different approach & style.
You can do it. Say to yourself, I AM a great watercolourist, over and over! It will sink into your subconscious and you will become what you say I AM! The same with anything!
Please don’t give up….if you watch Ellen, she admits “oopsies”, laughs and keeps going…do simple things, first, (triangles, circles, hearts) DON’T compare your work and play with the pretty colors….and I would bet that the recipient of your cards will be very happy to have something you made just for them….good luck!
I ucked this painting up in so many ways, but used every tip I could recall from Ellen...and the painting ended up quite cute in the end!

Thanks!
I just found my Christmas card!
Could u do Hanukkah cards? I have several people in my family who celebrate and would love to give them such a beautiful card!
A Hanukkah card would be great.
So beautiful but it's not as easy as you make it look! Mine was a total catastrophe. Thanks for sharing tho - I for sure need a ton more practice.

What color and brush you are using ?

Are you using the Holbein Ultramarine blue or Ultramarine Blue Deep?
deep
Gotta admit , I’m surrendering wave the white flag 🏳️. Painting after painting I’m never close. I love your style but I apparently cannot watercolor 😢
Same!!! 😂

@@NAVYWhistleblowerAssassinWatercolor is actually the most difficult.
I wish I could "see" scenes the way you do.....
what`s that sh#t??? No, it`s worse than sh#t.
Not sure how this is suitable for all levels, I struggled so much with this one
