  • Wendy demonstrates watercolour Christmas card ideas in a tutorial using easy experimental salt techniques. One of the Christmas card ideas that is demonstrated is the use of salt sprinkled into the paint to give the effect of snow. The subject matter is a snowy cottage and background trees with a simple foreground. Wendy talks about colour mixing and the use of a limited palette of just two colours.

    A wonderful demonstration/tutorial. I've not painted in over 30 years, never felt 'good enough' even though I would receive compliments whenever I allowed my work to be seen. Now I'm 60 and with limited mobility/failing health I want to put my stamp on the world, or my world at best. Thank you for the encouragement you have given me, without even knowing you had done so.

      @WendyPowellJones  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We are all good enough.....I have to fight off that feeling too. Just paint and enjoy the creative process...paint for yourself ......you will know when you have made progress or accomplished something. That is what is important.
      Painting opens our eyes to so much ....enjoy 🙂

      My family and I have been doing lists of random words, draw or paint one most days. Don’t have to think of what to do and doesn’t have to be good or take long. But the act of drawing something nearly every day really helps with the fear and I do notice an improvement in my confidence. Less intimidating getting what’s in my head out. There are lots of lists on line of drawing prompts. Or have fun in a dictionary.

      @WendyPowellJones  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks....the timing is very important. If the paint is too dry there is no effect and if it is too wet you will have blizzard effects. It takes a bit of practise . You have to be patient and let the salt dry naturally....no hairdryer. Hope that helps.
